The old expression, "All Things Being Equal" does not apply to me here. At my age, with my eyes needing reading glasses, any camera without a proper viewfinder is a non-starter. I can't really use my phone for any serious photography because of my inability to see good enough to compose accurately, and any bright sun induced glare makes things worse. So the Ricoh does not enter my choices for a camera.
I've been loving my Voightlander 27mm. Manual focusing is not even a constraint anymore after using the lens for thousands of images.
Yes, with GR3, you can preset the focus distance, let's say to 5 meter, and jump to it with a click. But what happens if now you want to change the preset to 3 meter? You have to go into menu and menu ...
In Fuji camera, there is a manual focus distance indicator and you can preset the focus distance you like by using the indicator, even if there is no marking on the lens. And this is much faster then in GR3 in a way, because with Fuji camera you dont need to go into any menu, you just turn the focus ring by refering to manual focus distance indicator, and you can preset any focus distance you want. That's it!
Yes, if you accidently turn the focus ring, then the preset focus distance is gone, but that's your fault, it's not the Fuji camera's fault. This will happen to GR3 as well.
On GR3 you press up arrow plus the turn the up dial key and you don't have to go into the menu. It's faster than any focus by wire like Fujifilm lenses. It's as fast as true manual focus lenses.
The Ricoh gives you the results and the pocketability, but the Fuji gives you the experience and pleasure of using a real camera
LOL at the Ricoh not being a "real camera!"
