Appreciate the honest review. The key message to me is that you have power in abundance that you will never use. My old 08 Road King with Stage 2 makes 99 ft lbs and 94 HP. That is already plenty of power. So from that point of view I have no real incentive to get a new bike. The new M8 run much smoother than the twin came I admit that. However, I like my bike and still look over my shoulder when I walk away from it and love what I see😃 and to get a new bike to the configuration my current one has with pipes, customized seat with gel / memory foam inserts and 14" handlebars just to name a few things, I have to drop another 5 - 7 k on it. Just doesn't add up for me😉 ride safe!
I totally understand your logic. I believe it's important to love your bike no matter what you ride. Glad you still "look over your shoulder". That's all good to me!! Thank you for watching.
My son is a HD Master Tech and last November he did a 131" Stage 4 build on my 2017 SGS. Lemme tell ya...im glad I've got a rider backrest on my bike. Rolling kn the throttle is like a rocket launch. Did I need all that power? No, but I sure do like it!!
You know...I gotta be honest with you. I did some research by reading some articles and watching other videos. I sure hope my info is right. I tried to double-check it, but I'm an IT guy, what do I know? 😀
I have a 22 SG ST with the 117 and I routinely get 220-230 per tank. I have a 21 SG Special with a built 114 and it isn't nearly as economical but it is also much more powerful than my 117.
HD colors and paints are unbelievable... Your CVO is a looker 😎. When it comes to the engine... you'll be upgrading soon enough, you may even believe you're not right now, but you will 😉
My 2011 street bob has the screaming eagle 110 tire shredder kit making 106hp and 122tq. I'm like you where I generally use about 65% of it but when I do give er man hold on tight lol 😁🤘
Hi Miguel! I found some mirrors that I really liked so that's the reason I changed those. I went with 10 inch KST handlebars and they are fantastic for me since I have some should injuries that ache from time to time. Thanks for watching and have a great day!!
@@TyFromTennessee yeah if it was mine that's all I would do to it to, changing out the exhaust is one of the first things I always do to any new bike lol, enjoy it Brother, just watch out for the crazies that are out there 💯
Wouldn't it be better if Harley gave you the full power capabilities of the motor without you having to spend so much staging the bike. They could have it set in such a way that it is full staged with 4 settings offering the 4 power setting via the ecu. I know it's not all about power, it is a beautiful bike but I would hate to think I had spent my hard earned on a bike that wasn't as powerful as it could be straight out the box. Nice review, thanks for sharing.
Hey Zed! Ya know what? That is actually a very good idea and I like it! I don't know what it would take to engineer that, but I'm sure some H-D genius could figure it out. Thank you very much for watching!
@@TyFromTennessee No worries man, it's actually very simple to have multiple power maps on your ecu. Super bikes have it now where you have race mode ( full power) road mode ( a little less aggressive) rain mode ( softer throttle response as well as less power) All changed at the flick of a switch so to speak.
Great video Ty. The CVO is very impressive but I am just the opposite I would have to twist it to the stop just to see. Be safe and thanks for sharing.

I'm about 5'11" and with the hwy pegs that breather still doesn't get in my way. I think one must be 6' or more for that to be an issue. I've found that my 117 delivers its power in a much different manner than my 114 SG's. The 114 seems more impressive in the lower RPM range and the 117 comes alive at 3200-3700 and up. I'm disappointed Harley doesn't offer a torque cam stage 2 upgrade for the 117. That's what I would go for if they offered it.
Hey Stephen. That same breather is also on my Low Rider ST and it doesn't get in my way at all. The 117 is such and impressive engine. Thanks for watching. I appreciate your time tonight!
I thought you had a badass spider decal on your tank, opposite your fuel filler cap. Then you panned out and it was a reflection of you phone mount 😅 during the intro
Hey Ty good review, Also that's a nice looking ride. Man nothing like passing power. Both Kake and I are aggressive riders (not Reckless) and we would love this bike. I am quick shifter and would eat that power up. I got real excited when you ripped it.
"Aggressive, not Reckless". That's a great distinction for sure. I'm glad to hear you liked that last bit of the video. Thank you very much for watching!
Sharp bike man. I love the fit and finish on the cvo models. That motor has potential but an aftermarket cam like a woods 22xe, a tune and a good exhaust and it would be a new machine 👌
Hey Joe! You're not the first person I've heard say that and I'm seriously starting to think about your idea. I think it just might be time for a Stage 2 on the CVO. Thanks for your feedback and thank you for watching!
That cam would put you 135 torque 120 hp look it up man. Just have the right shop do it. I use j&b performance cycles in wast tn Brandon is the man on a harley
Hi Ty. Like the video and the bike :-) If you did all the upgrades on a regular street glide that came stock on your CVO, would that be considered a stage 3? or 4?
Hey James! I'm not an expert here, but I believe it might be closer to a Stage 3. If others have more information please let us know. Thanks for watching sir!
Great video! I agree there is definitely plenty of power on the 117. All I’ve done to mine is installed Harley headers, Harley tuner, and Khromewerks 4.5” exhaust and it definitely woke the bike up a bit more. Do I need anymore, heck no! Do I want more, heck yes! 😂 I’ve been contemplating the 131 upgrade since I can still keep my warranty but not a bit skeptical based on some reviews I’ve seen out there. You ever make it to New Jersey, let’s ride! 🤙
Do you like the Khromewerks? I'm in the process of shopping around to get away from the stock exhaust. I sure do appreciate the comments and support for the channel!

Awesome bike! I just bought a Great White Pearl CVO a couple weeks ago and I’m like you, I want to switch the pipes but keep the bronze heat shields, and also keep the kahuna tips on. I’m contemplating the Tab 4” pipe with 2.5 louvered baffles. I figured the zombie baffles would be too loud. Do you think I’ll need a tune? I figured since we have the big air cleaner that it wouldn’t be necessary?? Any input would be appreciated.
I put 4.5 Rhineharts on my bike. No tune needed and I was able to keep the bronze heat shields. I really the Black/White Pearl CVO. It was a tough choice for me between that one and the Bronze Armor. Here is a link to my Rhinehart video --> ua-cam.com/video/okXSj7zVC1U/v-deo.html
