My brother and sister were evacuated to Yatton during the war. I went there a few days ago on holiday and took a walk along the strawberry line. Enjoyed it. Been going to Somerset since I was two. I'm an old git now and still loving it!
It is sometimes the films made by amateurs, never intended for public view that really capture something of the time when they were made. I'm sure Gordon, who took this film would be very pleased that so many people are now enjoying his work after all these years
Fantastic video but so sad to think it was all coming to an end. We also lost our railway which was the Gloucester to Ledbury the Daffodil line it ran through Newent where my Grand dad was the last Station Master. Great memories.
Unfortunately it leaves a big gap around Wells without a railway.

Really enjoyed that. The sad thing is that most people featured in that film will no longer be with us.......
Happens to us all in the end. Life's a terminal illness for which, so far at least, no cure has been discovered. Get used to it.
Wonderful archive so important it is in good hands, nicely edited and a credit to the photographer. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it
I live in Axbridge. So wonderful to see this film and dwell on what we thought would never change. Thankyou.

Absolutely loving this❤️
Strawberrytastic! Something very sentimental seeing this family enjoying such a simple pleasure - and one currently denied all of us.
Thank you so much for being there with your camera, Gordon.
Someone with foresight
This was filmed by my dad. He would of loved to of seen this on here. ❤
I am gradually digitising some of the films and will put some on DVD for your Mum
@@DaveEldergillCineFilm thank you so much.
It's nice to see this. I used to cycle round the Mendips, Wells, Cheddar Gorge and over to Glastonbury and Street. I had some very good times there.
I am maintaining the tradition.

no more jobs for life .why would a government that cares for its people do this ??
This is a question that is never answered.
Exactly the same reason why as now: power and "filthy lucre".
