I've got an Iron Man list together that really leans into the Artifact Birthing Pod route, with a ton of artifact recursion, finishing out a curve at Darksteel Forge and Portal to Phyrexia. Notable inclusion: very cheap card Spine of Ish Sah, since you can essentially start playing it every turn by saccing it to iron man and then re-playing it. I appreciate this prof I've been struggling since last week to build wolverine as every card I add to the deck takes hours of contemplating and seeing how it functions with the other cards in the 99 so I was lost on this one I think you helped point me in some kind of direction.

Personally, the direction I like for a Black Panther list is land creatures. You can skip the hassle of needing to transfer the counters to use them, and if your land creature is going to die, you just move the counters to another land creature (allowing you to keep repeating the process) Power Depot and Llanowar Reborn are sneaky good inclusions, because they already come with +1/+1 counters, and Crawling Barrens can be a mana sink that generates more counters on a land. Notably, Llanowar Reborn lets you immediately distribute the counters you place on it with your commander, thanks to the graft ability Earthen Arms and Planar Outburst have the Awaken mechanic, which also gives you land creatures with +1/+1 counters on them. Nissa, Who Shakes the World does the same with her +1. Blossoming Tortoise, Embodiment of Insight, and Sylvan Advocate all buff your land creatures Dryad Arbor is naturally a land creature, and both Awaken the Woods and Staff of Titania generate lots of Dryad Arbor tokens. Ashaya, Soul of the Wild is another bypass for the transfer hoop, because all your creatures are now lands Doubling Season, Innkeeper’s Talent, and Vorinclex, Monstrous Raider all double your +1/+1 counter placements regardless of where you’re placing them, unlike Primal Vigor aka Bast’s Blessing from the secret lair. Nesting Grounds, Resourceful Defense, and The Ozolith are all extra ways to back up your counters, by moving them around and preserving them when your creatures die You also obviously want lands that can become creatures on their own. Blinkmoth Nexus and Inkmoth Nexus are cheap evasive threats, with the latter able to kill incredibly quickly. Restless Prairie and Stirring Wildwood also add both your colors of mana. Other cheap attackers include Treetop Village, Mutavault, Nantuko Monastery, and Mishra’s Factory/Foundry, with Lair of the Hydra serving as a big inevitable finisher. Karn’s Bastion aka Wakandan Skyscraper is another good land inclusion for the proliferate ability. With all these mana costs on lands, Sunken Citadel is a must-have to ease the burden on your mana. Lands that come with self-protection abilities like Darksteel Citadel, Valgavoth’s Lair, Cascading Cataracts, and Thornglint Bridge are also good places to stockpile counters Emergent Sequence and Llanowar Loamspeaker are ramp that also gives you land creatures. Nissa, Vital Force and Nissa, Worldwaker animate your lands as well, the latter permanently. Awakening of Vitu-Ghazi, Roaring Earth, Spike Tiller, and Waker of the Wilds all give you land creatures with counters on them Secure the Wastes (also in the secret lair) and similar cards that produce a lot of creatures will in turn produce a lot of counters from your commander. There’s many options, but Grand Crescendo, March of the Multitudes, Jacked Rabbit, Termagant Swarm, and Tervigon are among my top picks. The latter three all have strong +1/+1 counter synergies on top of their token production, and can replace themselves thanks to the ravenous mechanic With all your lands becoming creatures, You’ll also want ways to protect them or replay them when they die. Heroic Intervention (also in the secret lair), Silkguard, Terra Eternal, and Guardian of Faith do the former, and Crucible/Conduit of Worlds, Aftermath Analyst, and Walk-In Closet//Forgotten Cellar do the latter (Note that unlike Prof I haven’t checked these cards for pricing to create a coherent strategy for 100 bucks or less, and in fact I’m fairly certain that a bunch of these cards are pushing even this flyover view of important game plans and synergies past that mark)
Hey prof. Love the videos. I don't even play Magic but I like to listen to you explain how decks work. However, sometimes when you're doing this explaining, the level of the background music can be distracting to understanding what it is the actions are. Thanks as always! I'll listen offline.
You have no idea what you're talking about and that's how currency exchanges work my brother. Our dollar in Canada is not the same as the states, you should know this. They're $50-$60 dollars at launch, maybe a bit higher end at $70 if the deck is in demand. Please do no use Wal-Mart prices, they're obviously higher because they're not a dedicated card store and can get away with selling them for whatever they want without knowing the market.
Black Panther manlands is on my to-do list. Assuming that I can get in line to buy his secret lair in time. Or that printer ink prices don't have a sudden unexpected drop.
Don’t forget nanogene conversion, irenicus’s vile duplication, last night together, and overpowering attack for the storm deck. What could be better than attacking with 12 storms and getting 30 additional combats?
TBF, i think that these are pre-Foundations prices? Wolverine hovers at $200 (minus Wolverine), which wrecked my argument that i was binging "about a $100 deck/ precon-level" to my tables.
And the Wolverine deck is getting more powerful on the 15th of November, when the combat damage rules are changing. Doubling his damage gets a lot more useful for clearing away blockers!
Im so excited to give Storm Double Strike in what could be basically an Izzit spellsinger deck with ramp, and honestly what i like about her so much is how she can flex. Depending on what you need, you have fantastic access to cheap ramp, draw, and damage. Options for Land Destruction, extra turns, mill victories from nowhere, token generators, or game winning damage to face as splashable 1 off effects is really cool
Double strike would only matter if you have instants to cast between the first strike damage and the regular combat damage. "The next spell" doesn't stack.
18:37 Sadly if you put the shield back on afterwards (such as with Catch) your other red and white stuff will fall off. They really should've made Sword of Feast and Famine the base card for the shield.
I have exactly one problem with this video. At 9:26, the sound effects for Wolverine's claws should have been *snikt* or *schlikt*. Otherwise, everything in this video is fantastic and I 100% agree that they should have made precons for these Marvel commanders
I’m definitely getting the Storm and Captain America secret lairs! Captain America is just asking for me to slap a grafted Exoskeleton on him and flinging poison counter shields at people. And Storm.. I’ve got a ton of ideas I wanna try.
Ya know how it's darn near impossible to make werewolves actually work, in Commander? Wolverine's gonna fix that, bub. It may not work twice, but once is good enough.
Personal favorite would to to cast cast a few spells get storm through, giver her double strike right before damage, between first strike and regular damage storm wild growth one shotting somebody with commander damage, then getting another storm trigger for 2nd main phase.
Same things i thought about Assassins Creed, some times during production they must had the decision to turn it into a mini booster from distinct commander decks.

Heroic Intervention (also in the secret lair), Silkguard, Terra Eternal, and Guardian of Faith do the former, and Crucible/Conduit of Worlds, Aftermath Analyst, and Walk-In Closet//Forgotten Cellar do the latter
(Note that unlike Prof I haven’t checked these cards for pricing to create a coherent strategy for 100 bucks or less, and in fact I’m fairly certain that a bunch of these cards are pushing even this flyover view of important game plans and synergies past that mark)
Hey prof. Love the videos. I don't even play Magic but I like to listen to you explain how decks work. However, sometimes when you're doing this explaining, the level of the background music can be distracting to understanding what it is the actions are. Thanks as always! I'll listen offline.
love this channel, thanks for the great videos!
Glad you enjoyed them!
I need to buy this!
thank you Prof!!
0:56 40-50$!?! I wish; up here in Canada you’d be lucky if your LGS sold em for 80$. Walmarts have them pop up sometimes and they’re never under 90$!!
Proxy bro
You have no idea what you're talking about and that's how currency exchanges work my brother. Our dollar in Canada is not the same as the states, you should know this. They're $50-$60 dollars at launch, maybe a bit higher end at $70 if the deck is in demand. Please do no use Wal-Mart prices, they're obviously higher because they're not a dedicated card store and can get away with selling them for whatever they want without knowing the market.
Every time I make a diy precon I'm like this is the last time. Then you go and post this X-D
Black Panther manlands is on my to-do list. Assuming that I can get in line to buy his secret lair in time. Or that printer ink prices don't have a sudden unexpected drop.
Excited for the other two decks
i would unironically love a borderlands set for magic
Don’t forget nanogene conversion, irenicus’s vile duplication, last night together, and overpowering attack for the storm deck.
What could be better than attacking with 12 storms and getting 30 additional combats?
I just realized I need an alter of return of the wildspeaker that's Wolverine when his outfit burst off during the climax of Deadpool & Wolverine.
@@RENEG4DE4NGEL This isn’t true, see the rulings for Sloppity Bilepiper and 702.40b (multiple instances of storm stack)
Wizards of the coast would charge us a monthly subscription fee to play MTG with our friends if they could.
That Futurama reference was gold XD
These are sweet. Woulda liked to see a Black Panther deck too. Probably the least powerful of the 5 drops, but I love weird jank.
18:37 Sadly if you put the shield back on afterwards (such as with Catch) your other red and white stuff will fall off. They really should've made Sword of Feast and Famine the base card for the shield.
Shield of Feast and Famine just doesn't have the same ring to it.
I really hope you can make decks for the remaining two in the future
I have exactly one problem with this video. At 9:26, the sound effects for Wolverine's claws should have been *snikt* or *schlikt*. Otherwise, everything in this video is fantastic and I 100% agree that they should have made precons for these Marvel commanders
Giving storm double strike triggers storm x2 for double storm on next card?
Yes.
I love the Captain America deck. And that's the one I really want the most
I’m definitely getting the Storm and Captain America secret lairs!
Same things i thought about Assassins Creed, some times during production they must had the decision to turn it into a mini booster from distinct commander decks.
i think giving cap deathtouch to instagib creatures with his throw ability is super cool
I would have to put savage punch into the wolverine deck. Its my favorite card cause of how flavorful it is and it works well here
0:50 Don’t worry, Prof, we’ll get plenty of Marvel Commander decks next year.
Maybe the year after as well.
"Teemur Manner"
For some reason that made me chuckle
Harmonize needs an art with Wolverine holding hands with Deadpool, since they had a movie together
Run Away Together, but it's DP slowdancing with Logan's skeleton
Yeaaahhh they seem to miss multiple opportunities with this cross over.
Honestly the Storm deck would be insane with cards that already have storm. Grapeshot with 2 instances of storm is going to end games if done right
I got my Storm and Wolverine and while they don’t sync super well together, I had to put them in the same deck for an X-men theme
How about a modular deck for The Iron RDJ??
The Wolverine deck is the best precon there is
If you re-attach the shield, pretty sure the relevant colored equipment will just fall off - isn't that the "E" in DEBT - enchanted or equipped?
You should definitely do the other two Prof.
trying to make the storm deck has me second guessing what sorcery and instant cards I wanna play, alot of good options
Should add Fling to Logan. Fast ball special feels like a flavor win.
Prof, you guys should do a Marvel vs Capcom commander episode. That would be so cool.
