This song isn't getting enough attention. It conveys a beautiful message and everyone should listen to it. And it's not even just this song, all of Fletcher's works should be more known and get more credit for they are all beautiful and deep pieces of art.
I'm not a hard affected survivor, i've hardly suffered the trauma the way many of you beautiful and strong women have, but I'll still stand with you and I'll still listen to you, because I believe you. And it's important that more people step forward to be a shoulder to cry on, so anyone who needs a hand i've got you
The stupid thing is that I feel the need to ask myself before I go out for the day if my outfit could provoke something. Even asking that didn't stop the harrassment.
As a kid, I was sexually abused by a family member. Teachers were so “professional” they talked about it to other kids parents etc. After word spread the whole school knew. Thats when I got bullied for “making it up” by other kids. This song made a knot on my throat.
I'm so sorry to hear about that. I'm also a survivor of CSA and it really fucked up my brain. Large parts of childhood are just... absent. I barley remember anything but the bad times. Sending love and strength

It's been 3 years since this song has been released and I currently still have it on repeat everyday. It's such an inspiring and amazing song. Fletcher did an AMAZING job on this song. It's helped so many people find the courage to speak up about their assault, and it also reminded survivors that what happened to them wasn't their fault and that it doesn't redefine who they are in anyway.

Statistics show that innocent convicts rarely ever face charges. Yes, there are some unfortunate cases but overall, most rapists don’t even get convicted.
Studies have also shown that half of all false accusations are inflicted by someone other than the victim.
That being said.
Only 100 out of 1000 rapists are reported. That of which only 30 face trial and lastly only 10 are jailed.
The statistic of imprisoning any rapist is extremely low.
The movement was encouragement for women to speak out and connect due to most women are afraid of the consequences of speaking the truth.

@@nkrwrites3894 The thing is I want told my mother about a sexual assault that happened to me I had nothing to do with the story above because of where my family grew up police wasn’t people you can trust so things were done in house I didn’t have to see them for almost a decade but They never got a formal punishment so I don’t really trust my family to know but since this comment I have talking to people who I do trust in an out of my family even though by law there is nothing that can be done anymore

God dam this song is amazing. Hits so hard really makes ya feel for the people going through this. The lyrics themselves how they incorporated saying me to so subtly not in a big flashy way it's just there and works perfectly. And then the verse at the end is so uplifting I love when artists are able to change the last chorus to show that what was struggled with in the first part is eventually overcome to some degree. Incredible song and love the music, vocals as well, sad I hadn't heard it till now hope it gets more attention

Thank you for such a powerful song and message that's bringing survivors together. Support is the most important factor and too often things are hard to talk openly about with people that haven't had those types of experiences because their lack of insight breeds responses that they may honestly believe are innocuous (and sometimes they just don't think about how to respond empathically) but are devasting to the survivor... And that only begets more walls being built by the survivor making it harder to find the necessary support to get through

So many men and woman do not report sexual assault, harassment and abuse and suffer in silence. To many men get told they can't be raped, or that they are a man, they wanted it. To many women are assaulted and raped because someone wants to take advantage.

I Get emotional all the time while listening to it…
i wish someone told me "i believe you" when i told them what was happening to me.a few years ago i told this one teacher and she said she would look into it, however, after she met the person who was ab*sing me, she said that they were "so nice" and that she believes them instead of me. i mean, thats what many ab*sers do they manipulate people, around others they acted so nice but when we're alone? that's a whole different story. it wasn't the only time someone didn't believe me when i asked them for help but that incident is stuck in my mind and i didn't tell anyone for a few more years cause i was so afraid that someone else would act the same way. however, i did end up getting out of that situation. i just wished that people had believed me so i would have gotten away sooner. i still deal with the trauma everyday and it makes me so sad that i'm definitely not the only one who has been thru situations like this

I wish they made a music video for this. Sexual harassment and rape is such a huge issue in this world. My friend got touched by our supervisor at work and I seriously thought it was gonna happen to me too and I wish me and her would have got that supervisor before that happened to her cause we knew he might be capable of that kind of thing that’s why I always carried pepper spray with me. Thank god he’s fired now. I believed her when she told me what happen to her and me and her went to the managers office to tell him what happened to her and the stuff he had said to me and he got fired.
A couple years ago I went through a really rough time, I tried talking to people about it and not a single person believed me. I wad told to "get over it" and that i was being dramatic. This was the one song that managed to keep me going, becasue it was the first time during the whole thing I heard someone say "I believe you"
Same, I was assualted at 5 and then 12. Not one person supported me, one person listened and then hurt my feelings. This song and my therapist really helped but anyways- this isn't about me.
