A friend told me awhile ago that old kpop is better than now and I thought how could that be possible now that I watched this... Damn Kpop back then was freaking revolutionary.
Yeah there was a lot more experimenting back then and trying out new concepts. I feel like once the agencies figured out which concepts make more money, they decided to stick to those tropes instead of trying out new things like they used to. For example, most of the groups nowadays have the formulaic group members main rapper, vocalist, main dancer, etc. But back then you could find group members with a larger variety of roles and talents, with a lot of the roles overlapping. This meant just about everyone in the group was capable of doing other roles, and could therefore experiment with more styles, compositions, and choreographies. A lot of group images/personalities have also become more standard in the industry nowadays, like the "bad boy/girl group" or the "sweet boy/girl group", etc. Don't get me wrong, sometimes you can see them breaking their own styles and trying other stuff for one or two songs. But my point is that old kpop groups *looooved* being bipolar with their songs and images, so you could expect all kinds of styles and concepts from a group. Lmao sorry for the history lesson, I just really appreciated older kpop. 😭
Honestly though. As someone who got to know kpop thanks to DBSK back in 2008, if only people knew how HUGE DBSK was back then, not only in western countries but also in Asia too. No one was at their level, it wasn't like today, there was DBSK then everyone else :D Even though there are other groups who also deserve credit for it, the biggest credit really has to go to DBSK for making Kpop go global.
One of my classmates that doesnt like kpop found this song in their recommendations and after he listened to it he texted the group chat about it and we the kpop stans freaked out so much. He said this is the first kpop group that he enjoys listening to!!! He wont become a kpop stan but at least he likes the one and only legends TVXQ. That is enough for me to respect him as a person!
I don't think so because lately KPop becomes like "pop-hiphop" oriented? Not all of them are hiphop but obviously most of them use "hiphop concepts & looks". Not a dance kind of songs like this anymore. Enter the top charts is yes but I don't think it'll be such a hit the top charts. Btw, I love TVXQ. Personally I think TVXQ has the biggest chances to be the most popular back then but I think the problem about member and something happens in another way for them. But we can't denied how great they are. Aaah I forget about the facts about how important the idols to makes an appearance on a show in Korea, esp varshow. And personally I think I can't found TVXQ often on the like usual SM's member group. So yeah, a bit uneasy for TVXQ promote themselves. Love and Peace..

TVXQ are one of the last in a dying breed of K-pop. I saw them live in 2012 and they are flawless performers. Intense choreography, perfect almost studio quality vocals and insane songs. There are no groups in K-pop who come close to being as influential and as perfect as them.
Elli they're certainly better at getting off on marijuana charges but I've seen the two groups live and TVXQ is much better. Big Bang is far too electronic in their music nowadays. There were better at debut.
Shinhwa is strong af too, I love them and their union, always together no matter what... sadly they promote only in Korea/Asia. TVXQ, even with the separation of JYJ and etc, brought the kpop out of Asia and this is a conquer that nobody can steal from them =]

This song was not even in K-Pop Ballad Electropop genre. This song has eurodance as its base. Every year has its own version of glory. There's no any better genre one another. As long as they're likeable and marketed for the certain segment and people enjoy it, music will evolve. =)

TVXQ have always been so raw and authentic since the beginning but at the same time trying different types of concepts , today's k-pop groups can never ever do what TVXQ did and is still doing.

I came here Because my school played this on the last day of school. the onLY TIME I WAS THANKFUL TO SCHOOL.
Its pretty amazing how these two are still carrying the name of TVXQ with so much grace and class! And even performing their previous songs. I mean, most bands would have ended up disbanding.
For those who came from The Fine Bros, If you want to listen to more of TVXQ!'s songs, I'd recommend, Keep Your Head Down, Before U Go, Humanoids, Something, Spellbound, etc. If you are wondering why there's only 2 members. It's because 3 of the members left the company because of "slave" contracts and unfair treatment. (Jaejoong, Yoochun, and Junsu). The 3 members are now known as JYJ (a group). JYJ has some amazing songs too. I'd recommend, Get Out, Found You, In Heaven, Back Seat, etc. The group when it had 5 members has had a lot of very beautiful songs as well. Such as: Mirotic, Rising Sun, O-Jung. Ban. Hap., Purple Line, The Way U Are, Hug, etc. For ballads, it's Love in the Ice, Bolero, Why Did I Fall in Love with You, Wasurenaide, Forever Love, and many more. Very beautiful. Enjoy listening to these songs. The group is known for their harmony while singing, live singing while dancing. Truly a legend, I tell you. And please. Don't start fanwars (to everyone). They'd get us no where. Ignore haters and trolls (they exist everywhere).

A lot of newbies are saying how come TVXQ became the top artist of SM to the fact that their music videos views are not as big as the other artists. It is because TVXQ's MV views are nothing compared to their ALBUM SALES ! And SM gains money through these sales and itune downloads rather than through this mv =__=
There's also the fact that within Korea there are alternate ways for streaming video and music than UA-cam, SM, and all Korean companies within the music industry, have alternate avenues to iTunes and UA-cam which the western K-pop audience simply forget exist. While an act may be unpopular on UA-cam, that says nothing about the recognition in Korea, their homeland, or Japan, another strong source of revenue for Korean music companies. UA-cam views are extra revenue, a "nothing to lose" situation for these companies, and allow Korea to expand outside of Asia depending on how recognised outside of Asia they are. Korean companies don't need to do this for us at all. K-pop could be removed from UA-cam tomorrow and it wouldn't matter to the companies at all as Korea is so connected within its own entertainment industry from TV to advertisements that they have no problems sustaining themselves just fine.

It is because TVXQ's MV views are nothing compared to their ALBUM SALES ! And SM gains money through these sales and itune downloads rather than through this mv =__=

There's also the fact that within Korea there are alternate ways for streaming video and music than UA-cam, SM, and all Korean companies within the music industry, have alternate avenues to iTunes and UA-cam which the western K-pop audience simply forget exist.
While an act may be unpopular on UA-cam, that says nothing about the recognition in Korea, their homeland, or Japan, another strong source of revenue for Korean music companies. UA-cam views are extra revenue, a "nothing to lose" situation for these companies, and allow Korea to expand outside of Asia depending on how recognised outside of Asia they are.
Korean companies don't need to do this for us at all. K-pop could be removed from UA-cam tomorrow and it wouldn't matter to the companies at all as Korea is so connected within its own entertainment industry from TV to advertisements that they have no problems sustaining themselves just fine.
