Great three-part feature of the Battle of Monocacy. The dubbing could use some improvement but overall the series is improving greatly. Here are glimpses of the horror of wounds, the compassion felt by the combatants in spite of the fury of battle and the tragedy and terror of close range fighting.
Nathan Rodriguez , i agree with you this is a powerful glimps into combat. I think they need to make war films as accurate and brutal as possible so people will think twice befor sending young men into combat.

As an ex soldier I watch this and simply see brave and simple men die for a cause brought about by absentee politicians perhaps because it reminds me of more recent times😥

Many of the men who stood up against Early's assault were green, led by a young lieutenant. For both sides, courage beyond measure. I like this video a lot. It really gives a feel for CW combat (as well as we can possibly understand and present it) instead of the usual reenactors (no knock!) standing around shooting in the air at an enemy 40 yards away without hitting more than 1 or 2.

In command of a detachment guarding two bridges, Davis led his men and withstood repeated assaults @8:20 Is probably based on Corporal Alexander Scott, also of Company D, 10th Vermont. During the retreat the color bearer of the regiment's national colors collapsed from the heat. Corporal Scott, also about to collapse from heat stroke and bearing the regimental colors, went back and retrieved the fallen national colors and carried them to safety. Both men earned the Medal of Honor for their actions at Monocacy.
Please, do not forget the 10.000 italians who volunteered, fought and died for the Confederacy. The militia of Louisiana had an italian guards battalion, later renamed 6th Regiment European Brigade, and other companies within regiments from Alabama, Virginia, Tennessee and Louisiana. General William Booth Taliaferro served in the Confederate Army as well as the commanders of the 6th Regiment European Brigade, Lt.Della Valle, Captain Marzoni, Captain Santini, First Lieutenant Marinoni and Second Lieutenant Baselli. The LionHeart Films are so much more realistic and accurate. Maybe with the exception of the portrayal of Chamberlain in the movie "Gettysburg", LionHart films make "Gettysburg" look lilke a HS senior play.
These movies are going from strength to strength. I thought that they caught the flow of battle and the pounding back and forward of each side. My only suggestion is that some of the over dubbing sounds out of place and fake. There are really strong actors that are beginning to stand out in these Clips. Good Job!

Good work. The re-enactor's eye for detail is evident. The actor looks a lot like Jubal Early. You have the re-loading and artillery drill down. Minor quibbles. Like all movies where you have to use blanks, the guns don't recoil realistically. Maybe the film-maker's art will address this someday. Also, the music is too loud. It washes out the narrative and the dialogue. But overall this was very good work.
Well, you could putacableon each gun trsilwith a pneumatic cylinderriggedto jerk the gun back when it's fired! They do that for men hit by cannon fire allthetine!
I was Private Gwinette in this movie, the one who holds several Federal soldiers at the point of a bayonet and then told by an officer to to let them go. I tell them to git and don't stop gitting. I'm in several other scenes. Be sure, the director constantly reminded us to act as if the guns were recoiling upon firing. Most of us remembered, some didn't. So this was addressed early and often, but that's the way it goes when you are dealing with several hundred reenactors.
well of course proper reenactors recreate and wear the uniforms exactly how they were at this time learn the tactics and drill to the T. And are using muskets that are specifically built to look, shot, function, and fell exactly how they did back then

This is wonderful wow such realism I’m astonished this is exactly how it was modern weaponry combined with linear tactics and ALOT of casualties along with the two sides never closing in with bayonets or swords like some movies imply when I believe melee weapons caused 1 in a 1000 deaths or a similar figure during this brutish conflict
Yeah the european military observers were shocked and disgusted by the lack of melee combat. A bayonet charge almost always routed the enemy before melee was even closed in, just the psychological effect was enough to make most men retreat. Instead both sides just sat there and shot, pure war of attrition.

possibly the script writer was trying to make the South look bad. Then possibly the Southern men were cursing the people who invaded their home. We will not know except from letters written home at the time. Those letters do not show the men talking like that.

Wouldn’t have been effective with the weaponry. You couldn’t hit the broad side of the barn with one of those. Let alone a corn stock of a man. And when they did get rifled muskets instead of retraining an entire army with light infantry tactics in the middle of a intense war, they just continued using those old tactics
They could have and very likely did, but the problem is, the other side is maneuvering too to counter flanking actions and try and outflank the enemy. You can't move around the enemy forever, you have to face him and break him.

The not calling hits wreck it all for me, if there is a firing line of 50 men, then you should realistically foresee 35+ men falling when fired upon.

Didn’t anyone ever conceive of spreading out and flanking the enemy instead of marching up the middle in a crowd of soldiers.
