Hello there ❤ I'm glad you enjoyed the captured views. It was a great, if not tiring day in the hills. Thank you so much for watching. Hope you have a great evening 👍🙂Paul
Beautiful area, Paul and we enjoyed coming along with you. Always love the stone walls/fences found over there. Stunning mountain area with some lovely views. Congrats on the summits. We'd love the Lake District! Thanks for bringing us along with you. Never see it otherwise.
Hi Dave n Kathy, I'm glad you enjoyed the captured views from the hike and there are plenty of stone walls around for sure. It was a pretty big day for the summit conquering so a big meal and a pint were in order that evening. I'm very sure you would love the Lake District. Thank you very much for coming along 🙂👍Paul
Wow, What an incredible video showcasing the epic journey to Mellbreak Wainwright Circular Walk. The visuals were breathtaking, capturing the essence of the park beautifully. Thanks for sharing beautiful trail
I did Mellbreak and Hen Comb last Tuesday and wondered why nobody ever walked from Buttermere to do this walk - I now know! Cracking day for it mind, glorious weather, well, until it started to rain that is! I need to do Gavel Fell, Blake Fell And Burnbank Fell, so I will be parking at Maggie's Bridge, lesson learnt, cheers Alan
Hi Alan, I'm not sure there are too many easy ways up Mellbreak and I found Hen Comb even worse! Then again I did do it route one 🙂 Gavel Fell, Blake Fell and Burnbank are a doddle in comparison. At least you now know how much parking is at Maggie's Bridge. Thanks for watching 🙂👍Paul
Hi Paul, the hike was so picturesque right from the very start at the quaint little village. It was a great workout with all those steep hills to climb! Some parts looked rather scary to me. We love the Lake District, the views are so incredible. It was a shame the rain didn't hold off for a bit longer. The pint and the meal at the pub were certainly well deserved! Thank you for taking us along with you 😊😊
Hi Julie n Lucy, it was great to be back out in the Lake District and a super day for views. This one sure was a good workout but should hopefully stand me in good stead for those bigger hills in Scotland. There was one or 2 places you needed to concentrate on the way down but for the most part it wasn't scary. The rain came and went, came and went but I didn't get wet with the waterproofs on. I did enjoy a big meal at the Wheatsheaf that evening. I'm glad you enjoyed the captured views. Thank you very much for watching 👍🙂Paul
Wow..breathtaking views indeed! It looked a little steep in some places 6:22 :-) Steep landscapes, gorgeous views, lake, rain, rainbow, a pint of beer; sounds like you're in your element Joking Hermit! Thanks for another great share! 😍
Hi Tracy, this one had quite the views and a clear top day to take them all in. The scree slope up first fell was pretty steep but the grassy bank up the second fell I found harder. Both fells were like 45% gradient in places. That rainbow sure was pretty cool. I was tempted to see if there was a pot of gold at the end of it. Then again the hike was gold. I'm glad you enjoyed the captured views from the hike. A big meal and a pint was in order that evening. Thank you very much for watching 👍🙂 The Joking Hermit

Hi Andy, yeah what a numpty I was! Anyway at least I can go do it again to bag it properly. Then I can take in Scale Force waterfall and walk down the side of Crummock Water. Most of the round was pretty boggy but the Mosedale valley was probably worst and then after coming off Hen Comb. I'm only classing this one as 4 Wainwrights cos I didn't officially bag Mellbreak. Thank you very much for watching 🙂👍Paul

Wonderful walk Paul...i love those Loweswater fells...always nice to finish with a pint of Loweswater gold in the Kirkstile...Mellbreak was my last wainwright all those years ago.
It certainly was a great clear day for doing them if not a tad windy on the tops. I've pencilled in Great End for my last Wainwright, if I ever complete them. I thought it was a fitting name.
Hi Paul! You had a wonderful hike in this area. Enchanting shots of this landscape, especially the wonderful view towards the lake from the top!! Nice climb despite the wind at the top!! I really enjoy watching this, like 38. 👏
hi Sretana and Zac, I'm glad you enjoyed the captured views from this hike. It was great to be back hiking in the Lake District National Park. Hi Christine, this was a super day out with the weather on my side for the most part. I'm glad you enjoyed the views I captured from the hike. Thank you very much for watching 🙂👍Paul
Nice one Paul, five Wainwrights, you're not mucking about are ya! Typical English weather there, rain, sun, wind and all the rest. Superb views there mate all the way down to the coast. *Wooooshhh woooshhhh* not sure if you can hear the wind 😅 just a tad mate 😉 but could still hear you over the top of it which is the main thing. Not easy on those boggy surfaces. Ahh nice to get a rainbow, with all that sun and rain it's not surprising. Hope you enjoyed your pint and rest after the big walk 🍻
Hi Matt, I don't do things by halves so got to bag as many as you can. Having said that I was pretty knackered at one point. Even tho the weather came in and out I's say overall I got pretty lucky. The wind was pretty vicious on some of the summits. My microphone had a dead cat on it but the wind was so fierce it wasn't enough by the sound of it. The bogs weren't too bad in comparison to part of a walk I did on the Isle of Arran. The beers went down well that evening. The place I was staying at had a fridge too to chill them. Rest and go again the next day 🙂 Thanks for watching. Have a great week ahead 🙂👍
That's a spectacular place Paul and looks so peaceful and quiet apart from a few others ! The mountains are lovely and steep :) Shame about the bogs and the rain and how you missed your turning but good like you said that the views were amazing and what a big day. Really lovely ~ Anna 👍
Hi Anna, this round of Wainwrights certainly was hermit friendly. I had all the summits to myself. It was a tad boggy on most of the round but I didn't sink too much so my feet kept dry. The rain wasn't too persistent and I was in full waterproofs so all good. Missing my turning means I will have to go do Mellbreak again all on its own to bag the official top. Nevermind that will mean also taking in the Scale Force waterfall and doing a lovely walk down by the shores of Crummock Water when I do, do it. Thank you very much for watching 👍🙂Paul
Wonderful mate. I remember that climb up to Mellbreak. Steep and slippery but brilliant views from the top. The rest of them I havent done but looks brilliant views out to the Isle of Man and the Solway. Definitely one of the least populated areas in the Lakes and some of the best fells by the look of it. That Loweswater bench is great! What a cool rainbow at the end! 😍
Hi Dave, the climb up Mellbreak was pretty steep but not as hard as I expected. I found the climb up the grassy bank up to Hen Comb worse. It was a super day for views with it being very clear. I might be climbing one of those hills you can see across the Solway First next month 🙂 The Loweswater Fells probably don't garner as much attention as some of the others which makes it better for me. I hate busy summits. The bench overlooking Loweswater was a nice find. I may chill out on that bench at sunset with some beers one day. The rainbow sure was pretty cool. Thank you very much for watching 🙂👍Paul
Hello Paul, the views were amazing, your camera footage is so cinematic. Loved the walks around the Lake District. Beautiful sunshine, shame it started to rain. Hello Julie n Tony, for me this was a great way to spend Good Friday. The weather turned out to be a lot better than forecast. The rain was only in fits and starts but I had full waterproofs on so no big deal. I enjoyed a big meal and a couple of pints that evening. I'm glad you enjoyed the views from the hike. Thank you very much for watching 👍🙂Paul
That is some pretty great hiking for sure!! Those views are always so breathtaking...must give one a real feeling of accomplishment! Such an awesome day!!
It was a great day out and great to be back hiking in the Lake District. It was such a clear day if not a bit windy. I'm glad you enjoyed the views I managed to capture. Thank you very much for watching 👍🙂Paul

I'm glad you enjoyed the captured views from the hike. It was a great few hours out. Thank you very much for taking time to watch. Have a great week ahead 🙂👍
those were some big climbs paul! nice seeing you back on a proper hermity hike! don't kick yourself in the head. you'll bag it proper. i'm glad the rain wasn't on ya the whole time. , sorry ya lost the race to beat the storm post burnbank. you mentioned such a full and exciting meal. 😉 my mom made my siblings and i eat a banana every day for breakfast whether, unripe, ripe, or rotten (cut around it she'd say). it scarred the 4 of us. i'm the only one to this day who can eat a banana. 🤣 gotta eat the granola, keep the energy up. apparently i'm really focused on your snacks this episode. 😂 how much longer until the grasses green up? happy hiking, my friend! 🛴❤
Hi Anne, it was good to be back hiking proper. I will be in Scotland next month hopefully doing more of the same up the bigger hills. I'm not sure how I missed the official top of Mellbreak. Never mind I get to do it again and doing it on its own I can walk down the side of Crummock Water and take in a big waterfall so not all bad. Bananas are good for energy and on the go. I don't eat loads of them myself but I can imagine why you wouldn't be keen on them now. The granola biscuits I take have fruit and seeds in them. They sure give an energy boost when needed tho. I'm sure the Lake District will be starting to look green now. This walk was done on Good Friday. Thank you very much for taking time to watch and your continued support 👍🙂Paul
Couldn't wait to see this as the views from the fells around Crummock Water & Buttermere are some of my favourites, though I've got a few haha Love those wonderful vistas right from the start, accross the fields to Melbreak. A mighty hike to take on after such an absence Paul but great you could walk from the door of your B&B That scree definitely isn't a favourite of mine & you did well to negotiate it. Don't beat yourself up about missing the top it's easily done especially if distracted by the absolutely amazing views from up there and after all ...... the north top is a Birkett!🤣😂 The slog up Hencomb looked worth it for more fabulous views .... and what's this ? Only a one course meal ? 🤣😃🤣 The clouds were ever changing making for dramatic sky though looked like you didn't suffer too much. I love to see when you can see it raining in the distance ... but not heading your way haha. If you're really lucky you can see Ospreys fishing on Cogra Moss ... never seen one yet ... it's on my bucket list 😊 Nice to finish the hike off with the rainbow & hopefully well deserved refreshments at the Wheatsheaf. Excellent video Paul, well done on both the production and a tough day 😊
I actually survived and recovered pretty well considering I'd not been hiking for a long time. This was a tough hike but done tougher of course. It was handy being able to walk from my B&B which was a really great place to stay. I hope to stay again there some time. It's run by a retired couple. I'm still not sure how I missed the actual top of Mellbreak but at least I can do it again and take in Scale Force with a walk down Crummock Water. It turned out to be a very good day for clear views even if it rained a bit from time to time. It made that fabulous rainbow tho. I had a big meal that evening. I'm glad you enjoyed the round. Thank you very much for watching 🙂👍Paul
Another incredible hiking adventure on your channel today. Good job tackling the screes, it looks challenging but rewarding. The sweeping views are incredible. Lots of wind up there, but nice blue skies. Good captioning and mentioning every place in detail. What a lot of nice hiking opportunities you have there. That bench way up there and a full rainbow is pretty cool. Enjoyed 👍👍⛰🌄
This was quite a challenging and long walk but a super few hours out all the same. It was pretty windy on the top but pretty clear views which is a bonus. It was great to back in the Lake District National Park. I may go back to that bench one day around sunset time with a couple of beers to just soak up that view whilst chilling out. I'm glad you enjoyed the captured views from the hike. Thank you very much for watching. Have a great weekend 👍🙂Paul
Can’t believe we almost missed this one! Another area we haven’t covered and it looks incredible! The weather more realistic in this one 🤣 compared to you next video! That’s a smashing pew with a view! Another very enjoyable hike with you Paul! Gosh we miss the Lakes ❤👍
Ah this was Good Friday and a big day in the hills. The weather was a bit mixed but didn't spoil the day and still got some awesome views. One day I may go back to that pew around sunset with a couple of beers to chill out and take in that view. It sure was great to be back in the Lakes bagging some more Wainwrights. Thanks for watching 🙂👍Paul
Hello IJ, I do try and not fall off the fells. I don't want to break my camera or me for that matter 😂 Would you miss me if I did? Ah Google came in handy. We have some weird names for big hills here 🙂At least the rain didn't get me good and proper with the sun coming out. Thank you very much for watching 🙂👍Paul
The approach to Mellbreak wasn’t the easiest, but the views were well worth it. Even though you had some rain you were still fortunate to get some amazing clear skies. Looked a lovely route 👌❤️
Hi Phil, the screes on Mellbreak are somewhat infamous. I didn't find them too bad. I found the climb up the grassy bank to summit Hen Comb harder. Then again I had the scree climb up Mellbreak in my legs by then. The rain didn't persist much and the weather was better than forecast to give some super views. I'm glad you enjoyed those views I managed to capture. Thank you very much for watching 🙂👍Paul
Hi Paul, Oh Paul weather is back...The color of the sky is as blue as it can be. OMGoodness, no kidding..is that trail full of loose rocks??? 4:32 hen Comb seems quite steep from any direction 11:47 Panoramic views at each summit are remarkable...although the gusty winds try drowning your voice 12: 56, 18:0320:21 .... Hmm...Pile of rocks for Burnbank Fell marker? 23:00 oh...the winds knocked it down..hhahha kidding oh..no...start raining....At least, you completed your destinations... The rainbow over the lake is phenomenon !!! 26:45 Was it cold rain? Brrrr Stay warm, Paul. Thank you for your gorgeous trek. You must be exhausted, but earned a magnificent triumph over this trek. You deserve a pint. ciao
Hi Ms Kayak, I was lucky all weekend with the weather as it turned out better than forecast. And yeah that's scree you have to climb up to get to the summit if you go that way. That means lots of loose rocks. I like to go the more interesting routes 🙂 I found climbing up Hen Comb a lot harder tho. There's probably an easier route up Hen Comb but would mean crossing the stream which was quite high with water or walking further. I do have a new microphone which I was hoping would do better than it did with the wind but it was incredibly windy especially on Blake Fell. I could barely hear myself over the wind. A bit of rain came in but I was in full waterproofs and it didn't last too long. It was fits and starts. It was a surprisingly warm day but I always take lots of layers with me up the mountains/hills even in Summer! I was a little tired at the end but a big meal and a pint helped. I go running and hiking again the next day. No rest for the wicked 😂 Thank you very much for taking time to watch. Have a great week 🙂👍Paul
@@ms.kayak7seas I hiked the day before this too, hiked and ran the day after this and then hiked again the day after that. So 4 days hiking in a row and a 5k run in between 😁

Epic round Paul good mix of weather 🌦️ and some super views 🤠🙏🏼🏔️ Never been this way (my loss 😢) Hope you got a good meal and a pint as a reward mate 13 miles and 4000 foot plus is a a big day 🥵 ATB Simon 👍🤠🏔️
Hi Simon, a big round considering I'd not been hiking properly for a bit but well worth it. I'm trying to get around all the Wainwrights so it's an excuse to see parts you normally might not go. I had a big meal and a couple of pints that evening. Thank you very much for watching 🙂👍Paul
The pint and big meal went down well that evening. It was a long tiring round but the views more than made up for it. Thank you very much for coming along 🙂
@TheHikingHermit your route up was certainly more interesting than the one at the other end although there is about two 50m sections going down where you can slide on your backside on smooth grassy slope.
@@crispyshaw9204 I will probably go up that route again when I do it properly and drop down the other side to walk down the side of Crummock Water. Going down those steep grassy slopes always adds a bit of "fun" to the outing.

The rain was only in fits and starts but I had full waterproofs on so no big deal. I enjoyed a big meal and a couple of pints that evening. I'm glad you enjoyed the views from the hike. Thank you very much for watching 👍🙂Paul
That was brilliant paul and the views were spectacular
I'm so glad you enjoyed it Simon. Thank you very much for watching 🙂👍

Your video making is really good. I really enjoy this video.
What beautiful scenery from the start till the top my eyes not even blink to enjoy the video you sharing. I feel like want to jump there😊.... thanks for it
I'm glad you enjoyed the captured views from the hike. It was a great few hours out. Thank you very much for taking time to watch. Have a great week ahead 🙂👍
Incredible views 😁
I'm glad you enjoyed them 👍🙂
This looks like a scene out of a fantasy story!
It's like a big playground for me and great to be back in the Lake District hiking 🙂
Wonderful hike in a beautiful nature, mountain and landscape. Splendid views. Have a great day. Greetings Amie🇳🇿
Hi Amie, I'm glad you enjoyed the captured views. It was a great day out. Thank you very much for watching 🙂👍Paul
@@TheHikingHermit My pleasure. See you again soon.
Hen Comb is an interesting name for a landmark! Good views too 😊
Ah the fells in the Lake District, England have many weird and wonderful names 🙂
those were some big climbs paul! nice seeing you back on a proper hermity hike! don't kick yourself in the head. you'll bag it proper. i'm glad the rain wasn't on ya the whole time. , sorry ya lost the race to beat the storm post burnbank. you mentioned such a full and exciting meal.
I have an easy hike through your lens with a beer on hand. 😄Thanks for bringing me there. Your support from the USA. like #32.
I'm glad you enjoyed the hike. Thank you very for coming along and the support. Have a great week ahead 🙂👍
Hi Paul, be careful not to fall down the Fell😂 and break your camera. I had to google what is a Fell! Spitting rain can make the work tricky for sure!
Catching up
Hi Paul,
Oh Paul weather is back...The color of the sky is as blue as it can be.
OMGoodness, no kidding..is that trail full of loose rocks??? 4:32
hen Comb seems quite steep from any direction 11:47
Panoramic views at each summit are remarkable...although the gusty winds try drowning your voice 12: 56, 18:03 20:21 ....
Hmm...Pile of rocks for Burnbank Fell marker? 23:00 oh...the winds knocked it down..hhahha kidding
oh..no...start raining....At least, you completed your destinations...
The rainbow over the lake is phenomenon !!! 26:45
Was it cold rain?
@@TheHikingHermit OMGoodness, you went out running very next day. You could be in triathlon!!! ha hah Your hike was beyond my level hahah.
@@ms.kayak7seas I hiked the day before this too, hiked and ran the day after this and then hiked again the day after that. So 4 days hiking in a row and a 5k run in between 😁
Hi Paul
Amazing views 😊
Nice to some sunshine
Some great footage
Shame it rained.
We really need to spend some time in the Lakes
Have a lovely Sunday 😊
It was a great few hours out bagging some Wainwrights. It didn't rain much or for long. I was in full waterproofs anyway. Thanks for watching. Have a great week ahead 👍🙂Paul
Epic round Paul good mix of weather 🌦️ and some super views 🤠🙏🏼🏔️
Never been this way (my loss 😢)
Hope you got a good meal and a pint as a reward mate 13 miles and 4000 foot plus is a a big day 🥵
ATB Simon 👍🤠🏔️
Hi Simon, a big round considering I'd not been hiking properly for a bit but well worth it. I'm trying to get around all the Wainwrights so it's an excuse to see parts you normally might not go. I had a big meal and a couple of pints that evening. Thank you very much for watching 🙂👍Paul
Yeah you deserve a Pint after that long walk, lovely views specially by the Loweswater :-). Thanks for the tour :-)
The pint and big meal went down well that evening. It was a long tiring round but the views more than made up for it. Thank you very much for coming along 🙂
@@TheHikingHermit :-)
Very windy but very beautiful. The rainbow was awesome.
A tad windy across the summits but very clear views. The rainbow certainly was an awesome bonus when dropping off the fells. Thanks for watching 👍
I think the other summit (south top) at the other end of Mell break is the summit 512m.
You are indeed correct and I note this in the video. I've been kicking myself ever since. Anyway a good excuse to go back to do it properly one day 🙂
@TheHikingHermit your route up was certainly more interesting than the one at the other end although there is about two 50m sections going down where you can slide on your backside on smooth grassy slope.
@@crispyshaw9204 I will probably go up that route again when I do it properly and drop down the other side to walk down the side of Crummock Water. Going down those steep grassy slopes always adds a bit of "fun" to the outing.
