Wow, great camera footage! I can only imagine what it must have sounded like being there. Thought the heritage formation was touching, seeing the best of WWII flying a long side in tribute from the best of today. I bet they had to do a lot of planning to keep the P-51 out of the jet wash of the F22 Raptor.
7:09 - does this vapor cone indicate that he's edging towards being supersonic? Oh and where did you film this? It looks like maybe Marina Green / Chrissy Field?
Filmed it from the Aquatic Cove. The Vapor is more likely to form at higher speeds (as you noted) or higher wing loads (during the tight turns etc) as the aircraft forms localized areas of lower pressure.. During the high speed pass the jet was probably at ~0.8-0.9 Mach. It will never exceed the sound barrier as that would ruin everyone's day ( and ear drums .. and windows ;) )
@CiaranRegan thanks! Yeah, I'd love to hear one bit at a safe distance. There's a old video of the Concorde breaking the barrier but an extremely high altitude, you can tell how loud it would be up close. Thanks for posting this awesome video.
F-22 was designed for air superiority whereas the F-35 was designed as a multi-role fighter. In a 1v1 situation the F-22 would likely come out on top given it's overall much more performant, more maneuverable and has a smaller radar cross section. A team of F-35's working together perhaps evens the odds ;)
That was a WWII era P-51 Mustang. The USAF demos will often end with a Heritage flight contrasting the old with the modern. That’s what this section was intended to demonstrate
My 2 favorite fighters flying together, whats not to like 👍
That’s the most beautiful fighter jet! Period!
Breathtaking! Fantastic footage, thanks for the capture and share!
Glad you enjoyed it
Beautiful.

Ok now THIS IS SICK
I took my dad to SF to watch this and he yelled "HOLY SHIT" at this exact moment lol
Thank you so much USA
Great camera work.
Thank you very much!
Awesome vid! I was at the Friday show and it was amazing - thanks for letting me enjoy it again!!!
What a Monster! The break @10:25 was so gangster. 🥲
The capability of the jet is remarkable! One badass fighter jet!
the flat spin and weapons bay door was so cool
Always impressive!
Thanks a bunch for posting this one! Good stuff brother! I really enjoyed watching this video.
Cheers!

What a beauty!
Great footage! I was there on Sunday and indeed it was a vaporfest!
Perfect conditions for a lot of vapor! Cheers!
I can fly...I'm a pilot. That plane is unreal!
Air Superiority
God Bless America 🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍

Good clear and stable footage. Thanks!

Always better live. I can tell you were in the stone bleachers next to the Maritime Museum.
Cuz I was there too. =)
Awesome footage Ciaran. Well Done 👍
Cheers!
Welcome back
Cheers ;)
Wow so cool
Fucking awesome!

@@CiaranRegan And there are *LOTS* of windows in downtown SF. 😅

Thank Gosh the weapons bay was empty XD
🤣
Lmao
Whoops! 😂
7:12 damn, too bad you lost the focus, that was the money shot
I know 😢 Couldn’t believe it when it lost focus. Maybe I should have thrown ‘stealth’ into the segment name 🙃
I was out there
Nice, did you enjoy the show?
@CiaranRegan yes it was in front of ghradeli square on the bleachers
Curious, how much -more- aerobatic is the f22 vs f35?
Of course the F-22, no competition in that regards.

@@CiaranRegan In a BVR fight it might be more competitive between the two 😉
Nice, What was the purpose of that small prop plane flying with the Raptor?
That was a WWII era P-51 Mustang. The USAF demos will often end with a Heritage flight contrasting the old with the modern. That’s what this section was intended to demonstrate
@@CiaranRegan i kind of thought that. Thanks for the confirmation. I'm sure that pilot had a blast flying that plane over the SF Bay.
The best fighter in WWII (p-51) and the best fighter in the world now (f-22). Both legends in their era.
Definitely makes you realize how much bigger modern fighters are.
Tax dollar at work right there. Wow
this plane i s a fucking killer
Don’t mean to brag but those are my tax dollars. I personally think we should triple the defense budget.
