To pull the hooked target closer to the gun, it is a nice trick, more dmg, and you can turn to your teammates side as well

​@@nguyentraninh8762 that isn't why. he does it because unless you manually guide the hook trajectory around the object, sometimes the target will get stuck on the map geometry and it'll mess up your hook.
