- These three DIY sensory toys are quick, easy, and cheap. Perfect for autism, SPD (sensory processing disorder), or just general sensory play. DIY fidget toys are fun to make and can save you a heap of money. Autism sensory toys are expensive. With a little crafting you can make your own inexpensive DIY sensory toys.
In this video I will show you how to make three sensory toys that won't break the bank and you can throw together in just a few minutes.

Hi qena
Hi 👋 mass
hes making toys for his kids hes such a good dad.
He is an amazing father! I definitely agree
My dad doesn't even have time for me it's always time for his job.
Same :(
@@ananerak8003 Don't worry at least he loves you

I love making DIY sensory/stim toys. Online or in shops, as soon as you add the word 'sensory' or 'autism' or 'special needs', the prices are tripled!
Morgana Wolfe - Autistic Artist so true I have a large pencil case filled with homemade fidget toys to all of my classes for my ADHD,OCD,anxiety, and social anxiety.
Homemade is pretty cool if you have the right stuff! Stress balls are pretty easy to make for example. Also you can buy tangles in 'regular' shops and they will be normal priced! I have a few different styles. I'd love a chewy tube or similar but prices are insane! I like to have just the tip of something thin in my mouth so normal chew toys don't work, and pens are pretty icky!
Hailey Is Happy I have ADD OCD and anxiety no one would ever think that I would
True!
For real you could type in silicon brush for skincare and it will be 2 dollars but as soon as you type sensory its suddenly $30
This guy's voice makes me wanna hug someone idk why omg lol
+BRAID BAE Well thank you...I think. Lol
FatheringAutism Lol I'm still laughing about what I said (I mean it nice btw no hate if that's what ur thinking and +1 sub)
BRAID BAE I mean, if my huggable voice gets me a sub then cool! Lol, I'm laughing along with you. +1 for odd comment of the week! Lol
FatheringAutism Omg hahaha I'm dying lol that part when you get the hair gel on you and u just put it in ur hair I just dyed laughing lol
this is awesome my cousins have autism and their birthday is coming up this week they love anything that's shiny and makes noise can't wait to make these for them!
Jaymes Martin Very cool. Thanks for watching!
I have a kid in Sunday school that has medium functioning autism he is a sweet heart. So precious I love working with him and teaching him. The other preschoolers are precious too.
+Melanie Barksdale i am also here to make sm toys for my brother for his birthday...he loves music and i think he will like these
'This is paint...not blood...Paint' hahahaha
I just found your channel and i'm in love! such creative ideas
Cool! So glad you found us!
You are the definition of an amazing dad
I personally don't have autism but love your vids they inspire me to help kids with it
Well, that is our goal. To spread awareness, compassion, and understanding. Thank you for watching. If you haven't already, be sure to subscribe and click on the notification bell and UA-cam will notify you when we upload the next video.
That gel bag looks absolutely amazing! I'm a teenager with SPD, I just discovered your channel, your DIYs have been so helpful!! I'm definitely gonna make like... 100 gel bags.
Thank you! As a special education teacher I'm so excited to have found your channel :). I just made sensory bottles with my students (and a tutorial for my ~first ever~ youtube video) and they LOVED the process and the bottles so I was looking for more options for us. Teachers spend so, so much out of pocket, so things like this are really helpful for reducing cost and meeting student needs.
Actually...I have a bunch of that exact same dollar tree gel left over from the bottles, so I should go ahead and do the bags--are the thicker ones a specific brand, or just a freezer-type bag? Thanks again :).
Been watching these videos for years and now have a new job working with adults with autism and other learning disabilities through art. You guys were definitely an inspiration
That gel bag is a great idea. I need to try it out, thanks for the tutorial and I love your channel
You're welcome and thank you for watching.
Ilse L. I love to do this with hair gel too :)
The gel bag is like the gel ice packs they give you in school. When I used to get hurt they would put it on there, and once it thaws out a bit it's fun to play with if the pain is gone.
Fun! You make some of the same things we do. My girls love the gel bags, with blue gel and fish/sea creatures! Also, if you save parmesean cheese containers you can make great sensory bottles (but you do need to super glue them shut. Fun things to make!
Our Sunday school books call things like that ocean in a bag.
Even better- Voss water bottles! (Sorry I know your comment is from a year ago but just wanted to share!)
I love some of the ideas here. I have autism, adhd, OCD, anxiety, and compulsive skin picking related to my OCD and this honestly has given me some ideas. Also you're very funny, too!
I have some ocd and i have anxiety also i skin pick to. If you want a figet to stop picking or to help anxiety, adhd is a tangle. I really like it myslelf. I suggest it
I find it extremely satisfying watching Abby playing with them...
You are not only a loving father and mother....You are professional. Your doughter is blessed with parents so helpfull with making toys and things to help her feel better!! A.
I don't have any disorder but I love sensory stuff
Same here devongachagirl
I have high functioning autism and I don’t consider it a disorder I think it makes me stronger as a person
Me too I just want something to squish when I’m in class
Same
I'm digging your videos. As a special education teacher, I appreciate sensory tool tips. Keep up the excellent work!
tip: if you or your kid is a little more bitey use pectin or gelatin instead of hair gel
Katelyn burgess That's a very good tip. Thank you!
Or maybe glucose? Corn syrup?
coconut oil works better in my experience also makes for brighter color when you add the food coloring than it does with clearer stuff, but if you use clear, some edible types of flower petals (don't mix too many colors of course) can be quite interesting to play with through the bag
added bonus, if the child can't see everything hidden in the bag right away, they can squish it around to find stuff, which many kids find calming.
Anwen Roberts yeah corn syrup
I’ve did gel bags with my Sunday School class before mine just had gel and food coloring. We did a sensory bin today and the kid’s loved it.
Yes yes yes yes!! I love the gel sack and the sensory tube!! My favorites have always been stuff filled with water and like beads and glitter... I wonder if that would work with the tube...?
Also if your sensory child loves to put things in their mouth you can use clear tape like packing tape etc to reinforce the bag so it isnt so easily punctured.
Amazing things you come up with for Abbie using many items already in the home, or easily purchased at a hobby/craft store for minimal cost! I'm sure a lot of these ideas help out a quite a few other parents also!🥰
As a student on a budget, I have to make a pecs binder and sensory tools for a project. Thank you very much for your ideas; I think i'm settling for the gel pack.
This video is great my brother in law who just turned 5 a few days ago has angle mans syndrome and he really likes sensory toys thank you so much
I love your humour you're hilarious 😂
I made a sensory tube and I love it! I added water so when I tip it the glitter looks really cool.
BTW you can still
Hear the sounds in the tube
Love it.
I spent like AU$30 on one of those Find It! tubes. My students love it, but I know I could make one with rice or using your jug of beans or beads or similar if I tried.
You can also make your own snow globes by gluing things inside the lid of a clear container, then sealing it shut. Or those "calm down bottles" which have glitter and glue and are nice and swirly, then settle after time.
Cee Kay I make them out of plastic bottles lol
I love these fidget toys I don’t have any plastic bags for the third one but my mom said that when we go to the store she will buy some bags
"This is paint... not blood ..." 😂
You are awesome! Thanks for this video! I was looking for some sensory toys for my kiddo 👍
you are an amazing dad, my brother has autism so i wanted to give his mother ( my stepmom) some ideas
this is so pure thank you so much for making this
Campbell :V Thank you for watching!
Hello! I’m not sure if those kidney beans were raw, but if they were, you should change the beans because kidney beans are toxic when raw and 3 or so raw kidney beans could be lethal if ingested.
I’m making these fidgets for myself and they are soo useful thank you so much for this video it really helped
That's neat we did jell bags for Sunday school one day it was suggested in one of the books.
I have spd and i absolutely loved the gel pad
All of the fidgets are so cool and helpful 🙂
I'm 14 with ADHD and a Tic disorder. I have a few figet spinners but the don't do it for me! These are great!
This is great for calming ADHD :)
I might try them then
Im 22 and I'm going to make myself a gel bag to help with my anxiety. I also make a lot of toys for my little cousin who has autism and I really love the ones you make. Ill make sure to send you pictures when I make them 😊
The sensory tube is awesome . What is the name of that transparent tube? Is it a water tubing ? Never seen one so i dont know where to buy it. Thanks and great video . ❤
Those are so great Wish I had known about stuff like this when my son was little Oh well, my foster kids will love them
Awesome toy ideas!!
I'm definitely going to try these. Sensory toys are so expensive, you're right. Cheapest ones I could find were on StimTastic, and even they seemed overpriced
+Elizabeth_958 Yeah, they love to jack the price of sensory toys.
Is anything you can feel, look at or hear a sensory toy?
If you are not in a DIY mode, look at the one pound stores. They have some cheap toys that work as sensory toys. Like smal paterned lights, glitter tubes, rubber ducks and those small games, a plastic thingy with water and balls/hoops in them that you have to get in the right spot. Good luck.
Melanie Barksdale Basically anything that stimulates the scenses. You can chose what ever works for you.
Love the gel bag my son would love that the only problem is he likes to pull tape off of things
you can use an iron and baking paper to seal the edges
It's a little messy but you can but in a balloon or Ziploc bag get baking soda and conditioner mix and put in balloon or Ziploc bag and boom
The gel bag one is the best fidget to me
Thank you, I have pdd nos!
these are great ideas! love it.
Very funny and useful! Thank you!
Great idea.thanks
Awesome ideas, these toys are seriously cool!!!! 😊😁😀❤💙💜
Great ideas!
I love the sensory tube best!!!
Love your DIY. Sensory toys ASA.
Congratulations!!! I love a idea.
Love these ideas Thanks for sharing
Thank you, my grandson has Austin, he's a special boy, I want to spoil him as I do all my grand, and great grandchildren, but I worry that my ignorance of this ailment, could hurt him, I'm trying to learn more.
Thank You for sharing ❤️
I like this video. I'm not sure exactly why sensory toys are so expensive either. Maybe parents should be encouraged to design and make their own sensory toys for their ASD kids. 👩👍
For the gel bag you can also melt the top with an iron to seal it instead of duck tape
You are a awesome dad I may make one of these for my brother he has adhd and autism he's 2 so I'll wait till maybe he's four
Love the tube
That's awesome.
Sorry for q what knife is it?
@FatheringAutism does the gel bag make squish noises? I like to physically squish things like slime but not crazy about the squish noise.
+Fathering Autism You can also use Different color Hair gel inside the bag. What brand / Type of Plastic zip sandwich bag are you using in this Video ?
I make pomspoms etc and teddys all homemade. I'm autistic myself, it helps me a lot, I want to try something like this and donate to my old SEN school :)
The best dad
THE SAW😂😂 NOT BLOOD, PAINT!😂😂😂😂

Sensory Processing Disorder
FatheringAutism o ok thank you
I have autism and I'll definitely be making those gel bags
I have ADHD and I'm making these for myself so thanks for da vid 😎
I loved your video. You’re funny
You seem like a great dad
I know this video is old but I really want to try the sensory gel bag. I'm bad at making things like that and have nobody that can make for me. If I was to buy one where can I find it?
+Sweet 'N Sour I'm not sure but you'd think that someone would sell them.
FatheringAutism Okay thanks :)
We did gell bags in Sunday school before with the kids. We also painted before in bags. We can do anything and they like it 5 and under is not that hard to please.
I make these for the kids I take care of :) they love this stuff :)
you could put the gel and beads into a balloon as well so it would not pop. I might try that myself. :D
You couldn't see it though in a balloon the isea is to see and fill it.
where can you get those industrial thickness zip lock bags?
I have found them on Amazon.
@@fatheringautism I tried looking but I was having a hard time finding them. wasn't sure what exactly to type in the search?
KatieVelazquez Search for “4 mil zipper bags”. I think eBay May have a better selection. You can use regular ziploc bags as long as your kiddo isn’t too destructive.
@@fatheringautism my little.guy is 22 months and VeRy destructive. thank you sooo much. I love your family's. we are just now starting OT and speech therapy. your channel has put my mind at ease in alot of ways. I have banged watched you for days at a time trying to watch all your videos. I love how patient and caring you guys are not just with Abbi but also with everyone you come in contact with! love you guys!
I love Asa's dry dead pan humour.
Thank you for all the great videos with your family. My little one is autistic and your videos have been really helpful
Amazing father
+Penguini Princess Thank you!
I was searching up how to make veggie toys and I saw your video and when I read like the channel name fathering autism and I realized I remembered that my brother has autism so yeah
This is cool! But I made my tube one with rainbow colored beads and water.
can you use soap?
great ideas ! where can I find those zip loc bags?
Urooj Aslam eBay and Amazon are going to be your best bet. You want at least 4 mil but preferably 6 mil thick bags. The size I used were 6"x6"
Urooj Aslam Here's a link to some on eBay. www.ebay.com/itm/221525076626
Thank u so much!
Urooj Aslam No problem. Thanks for watching! If you haven't already, be sure to subscribe.
The winter material has me making ocean in a bottle and starry jars and things like that for them. Why they started putting sign language in there I don't know all my kids in Sunday school can hear.
An idea for autism is make spaghetti and put it in one of those big bowl jug things that you make soup in on the stove... Anyways
put wet spaghetti in it and hide some mini toy cars and little plastic dinosaurs inside of it (or other things) and they have to find them all and sometimes i put pictures of them on a checklist and when they find them they check them off. (Sorry for bad English I'm French)
A rock a smooth one a jagged one there great
What are peanut butter pretzels?
Does it work for ADD?
Your daughter is pretty
try filling balloons with shaving cream or soap, works great!
