I bought a pair of Samson studio monitors at a thrift store that ended up having a dead woofer. Leads were good checked continuity from the tinsleleads to the wirenend. All good just had a dead coil. It wasn't scratchy or smelly. Just dead somehow.. Replaced with new woofers and they sound great!
Yeah that happens a lot. Most likely was there a Aluminum VC and due to heat, it got a break in the Aluminum. Thats why i prefer copper VC. Aluminum should be banned as a conductive material in audio use. (Except for speaker baskets)
Hi ,great instructional videos, you're probably the only person who can help me ,I have a Pair vintage cerwin vega 18in, I'm trying to find the correct air volume for a vented enclosure, can you help me?
I have a pair of Realistic Nova 8s that have one woofer that measured in the kilo-ohms, which puzzled me. I'll definitely have to try cleaning the terminals.
