red velvet have two sides: the red : fun, upbeat songs (dumb dumb, ice cream cake, russian roulette, red flavor, ecc..) the velvet : more mature, r&b songs (automatic, be natural, bad boy, psycho, ecc..) they also have a special side which brings the red and velvet sides together (zimzalabim, rrb, ecc..) red velvet are mostly known to have one of the best discography in kpop in fact i suggest you to listen to their bsides where they flex their voices!! red velvet always brings something knew on the table and that's what reveluvs (their fandom) love about them ^^

Since you love Seulgi so much, I would like to suggest for you to watch (and maybe react to) the entire group sitting down to react to 28 Reasons. Even if you don't actually record your reaction to that video, please do yourself a favor and watch it anyway. The group made their own reaction video to this MV. Some members have done that in the past but only for a couple of their solo debut songs, not for every MV they have made. This was the first time the entire group did a reaction video for one song. Wendy, of course, had only the highest of praise for her bestie, saying something like 'I have never seen anything like this before'. And Wendy should know all of K-Pop because she works at a radio station when she is not working with the group. Her show is awesome.
some people have theorized that there's a storyline going on in sm where taeyon is like a goddess and seulgi's a demon, or something similar to that anyway. And I mean, Taeyon did have athena vibes on invu and Seulgi, well... you can say she brought the BD in SM. I don't think anyone but Seulgi could have pulled this off. You can check their sm rookies (pre debut) videos. And their direction is more about performance (known as SMP, you also can googled it) or dance performance rather than vocal performance. So no vocal challenging on their song they replace it with great choreography instead. Aseul is part of dance line in RV. If you just listen the song maybe not quiet easy listening. It's the song you enjoy it by watching the performance. And about wendy, she is already set be the first soloist from RV. About the timeline of when, many believe the I&S first then wendy solo after that just like what happen. Same as their senior group, unit first and then soloist. And this unit have same theme as their latest album at that time. So Aseul album is definitely a follow up from group album. So no one is who replace who. And NO, before aseul sub unit, Seulgi already have so many project & collaboration, you can search in yt. She is one of Idol, for me, who actually can shine without overshadowed her team or patners or vice versa. She make the performance as one whole good performance instead a competition. I think that's why she is great as a soloist but still great as a team partner and many people wanna have collab with her. Sorry for gramatical error.
Omg, i am so late but i had a lot of stuff going on past few days. BUT RV IS THE GEM OF THE KPOP INDUSTRY. I still cant belive SM have so many talents signed with them. The discography is untouchable, the talent is unmeasurable and the gayness is overflowing.😂 Definitely a group that deserves a lot of respect and recognition for their work.
Please let me try to give you some perspective. No disrespect meant when I fill you in on this stuff, no hate intended. And this is a long read. Take all the time you want. Irene and Seulgi were the very first sub-unit of Red Velvet and Monster was their very first release. Neither of them was used to doing things without the rest of the group (Irene had done things pre-debut on her own but that was years before this, so she got used to the group dynamics. Seulgi had never done anything but dance covers and vocal covers of some songs, but never any original stuff). So, for a FIRST TRY at the sub-unit thing for both of them, I think this was a GREAT start! These two were used to having the other three ladies around them to help boost the songs. Wendy is normally the High Belter of the group so she would handle the key-change going up near the end of a song (where people might expect things like that to happen). But this release happened after Wendy was hurt VERY BADLY and was in the hospital for several months. She took more than a year to come back because of the severity of her injuries but the rest of the group needed to put out some kind of content while Wendy was healing. That was part of the idea behind this sub-unit. I can't really blame you for feeling a little under-whelmed for the second half of the song since you are used to what the entire group sounds like. But I think you really had to be there and already be a fan when Wendy got hurt, before you could really understand the gravity of the entire situation. Both Irene and Seulgi were hurting for their friend but they still had to keep performing and creating without her (Wendy and Seulgi are best friends so it is my guess that this was even more difficult for Seulgi than it was for Leader Irene). There was legal stuff going on around the group because of Wendy's injuries, which basically forced the group to do things without Wendy there. That means there was lots of pressure all the way around. As AWESOME as both of these ladies are as performers and as much as I love them both, they are just not Wendy so they could not do things that Wendy can do. If Wendy had been part of the sub-unit instead, YOU BET this song could have been better vocally (and maybe even instrumentally because Wendy is basically MADE OF MUSIC). I think, if the sub-unit was only ever going to include two members, then Wendy would have been in Irene's place. Wendy is Red Velvet's Main Vocalist and Seulgi is their Main Dancer...just WOW, what a sub-unit to have! Both of them are at least VERY NEAR the top of the industry in their fields, if not THE VERY BEST. As you can see from 28 Reasons, Seulgi is no joke. EVERYBODY in K-Pop respects her dancing abilities and she is a really terrific vocalist, too (possibly a perk of being best friends with Wendy...). I hope you read my long ass post, and if so, I hope you now have at least a little better perspective. :)
