      Rubicon actually does not manufacture at least some of the models they sell. These are imported from China and are known as model 1 and model 2. They are sold by other companies in the US as well including Culver Mobility and Maritsa. They sell them under different names but they are all the same chair. I notice there are a number of chairs with minor variations but the same weight and frame so I suspect they are all Chinese imports too. None of them is going up your hill without some assistance.

      @@madmark1957 Its manufactured in China by Bangeran. I show this at the end of this video. Its funny because i have some commenters claiming the chairs they bought would make it up for sure and others saying none of this style will. I think the Ranger Quattro Ultra will and a couple other. We had a gathering and a 200lb woman easily made it up with an $800 mobility scooter and she said this was the weaker of the two she owned. I simply fell for the lies in the advertisement. They made it sound like it was a similar build to the Ranger Quattro but its not even close.I put the actual description from the chair i bought in a comment above as well as in my description. Take a look at their description and you will see why im upset. This was the first power chair we bought so i had no clue what to expect. I took their word for it.

    Until I watched your video I planned to buy one after 27 years in a total of just 3 pride jazzy chairs (all were the 2000 series). I worked the hell out of my chairs. I'm a big gal but there's no mountain trail I can't safely climb or descend. Almost any long steep incline benefits from a running start at it. Also, slowing or stopping before reaching the top can be dangerous so is to be avoided.
    My first concern as you unpacked the rubicon was its single battery. That means minimal power, period. Motors may be what is claimed but without adequate power to them, it doesn't matter. Each motor needs its own 24v to achieve combined power and speed. That explains the flimsy charger too. Also, a powerchair or scooter should never be plugged into an extension cord. At $300 per battery, I can't afford elec surges and drops ruining them, or the chair's entire electronic system. Use wall outlets only, or solar panel.
    Secondly, it blew my mind when the rubicon failed to stop going downhill. Those brakes are intended to immediately stop it. Fast momentum may add a fraction of an inch forward but no way should it keep rolling. I can't imagine any thing more dangerous - it becomes an out-of-control death trap. Even more so if you're going uphill and stop for whatever reason. Normal gravity will pull that chair backwards until brakes set, if they set at all. That is scary. Going downhill in mine, I do pause slightly every 1-2 ft because I programmed my chair at 100% power & top speed, so must strictly control my descent.
    Thanks for all the details you shared. They totally turned me off to the brand. It's far from all-terrain but I don't expect it can get me down a gravel drive to my mailbox despite some nifty features.

    Sir I really really hope this chair works out for you I myself am purchasing a airhawk and I'm waiting for it to come because I myself amputation myself and I need something to be able to go through water and hills and over the mountains we go I'm a traveler like traveling but I like to also have it lightweight so that people like me can get in and out of a vehicle without causing any problems according to my chair it's 41 lb and with the batteries I think it making me 50 so I'm hoping that I too can use these new foldable chairs on my travels and Journeys and you're right for some reason Insurance just will not pay for these chairs because they simply say that they are more like outdoor chairs but they want you to get around in them but basically the joke is on us we had the front the bill if we want something that's going to be more mobile for us they simply are just saying hey this chair you have to stay in a nursing home or in your home you're not supposed to go to the store with you know you're not really supposed to travel with it and that's a bunch of bull so to me the wording of how the insurance said they'll pay for Mobility wheelchairs is a crock of Lies We are the ones who buy the chairs and we can't even get reimbursed or even use as a tax write off it just basically ours and we even have to pay for it to be fixed if anything goes wrong because insurance will not pay for it so good luck I hope that your son with this chair helps him get around more easier if not you may have to build a incline rap further on to the yard to make it easy for him to get around I hope that it's not too steep for him where it could cause a problem good luck sir in your challenge to make this chair a part of your family

    Do not do business with Rubicon Mobile Scooters. The MS society purchase one for me through a grant. A friend of mine decided to change the back tires , due to they where getting worn out and even shredding. This is a Rubicon Mobile FX-03 and i have not even had it for a year. Anyway, found out the rear tires where the motor is. The tires where easy to take off due to the wear on them. I then too it to a profession and they could not even get the axel off. I called the Rubicon Business due to i have a warranty on it ( yes i know it does not cover wear and tear). So even if i replace the moter and tire it would do me know good , since you cant. They did send me a text back to tell me how much the part is and have a nice day. Seriously, sarcasm? totally unethical business and there is much more but I care not to vent my anger. If you are thinking about getting a Rubicon, pretend you are already a customer and make a bogus complaint. Then let there reaction guide you.

    Can you get your money back from the chair how long have you kept it usually if you're ever return the chair within 15 days or 30 days they'll take it back unfortunately you may have to pay for shipping and handling and if you borrowed on Amazon Prime they shouldn't have no problem taking it back as long as you send it back shipping and handling or label long as you didn't go over the 30 day or 15-day warranty of the chair

    • @PapaPR3232
      @PapaPR3232  9 місяців тому

      Hi, yes i bought from Amazon i could have gotten a refund but the chair does well enough for what we need it for. Sometimes we have to help it turn or go up hills but we are always with him. I demonstrated what it can and cannot do with a larger person in it so people that truly need to depend on the chair will understand its limits. It is NOT an all terrain chair as advertised but with our help it gets my grandson around our yard which has many different types of hills. We decided to keep it for that reason. Better chairs would have cost us much more

    How has your experience been with it so far? I am 3'11" and it is hard to find a wheelchair or scooter of my size. Been thinking about getting one of these since they are within my range but i am not sure of its longevity.

      My Grandson is 70lbs and around 4` the chair is a little large for him but he is growing. Its frame is solid. Our only complaint is it does not do well on our hills but for most users it will be fine. Level ground it does fine. Its holding up pretty good. I would not recommend this chair for anyone over 200lbs.

    So sad to see what just happened to you
    When you were on the hill downward ! I’m kind of worried now as I was considering one that only cost $1300. Was your chair made in China?

    • @PapaPR3232
      @PapaPR3232  Рік тому +1

      Yes this chair is made in China and sold by a USA company. If you need something that will climb hills with an adult in the chair this is not the best chair. These type chairs are ok for indoors and level paved ground but if you need to go outdoors and in tougher terrain mobility scooters work better and most cost less. We bought this chair because it claimed it can go in all terrain and we wanted something we can fold and put in a car easily.

    Yeah I bought an Air Hawk and the original price was like 2,000 something dollars but I got lucky and gas for 1300 cuz it was refurbished you may want to send that one back and see if Air Hawk has some that are refurbished perhaps the other thing I just want a mission to you if you think it's hard now wait till it's raining or snowy or muddy that's going to be virtually impossible you might have to well it might cost you more money but look like you may have to eat either add on ramps or pads rubber pads even out the ground you may even have to have somebody come in and level out the ground better because I even see that dangerous even for an adult if you're trying to walk up something wet and grassy I can see you slipping yourself so you may have to redo the Landscaping so that your grandson can use the backyard good luck I am so sorry to chill did not work out as said yes a lot of our chairs are going over to China and Americans are doing it but they want way too much for it I understand no one wants to work American factories no more and you got other companies will take up the slack no matter what but thank you for your review this really made me realize I hope the decision I made with the Air Hawk is a little bit better again if you get this message check out the air hog refurbish

    Hiya
    (My comments are based on actual user use of this chair)
    Having watched your video today -
    this chair because of the brushless motor system etc take a bit of getting used too re hand controller if for example going down a hill your speed has to be at zero and it’s very light movement on the hand controller as will pull to a degree in opposition direction.
    I’m a adult I’ve been using my chair for the past 7 years I’ve had for 8 but in the last year I be had issues so was time to get a new model which has arrived today-
    These chairs are brilliant the turning radius is super… I’ve had like I said mine for 7 years of no issues- this like anything takes time to get used to using a new applianceto and how it feels while using it….
    On grass the traction is limited plus the motors work differently for accommodating , so a bit harder to use again this takes time and experience …
    These chairs need the exact charging stipulated in the manual… and what it says please do otherwise you will do damage to this great chair…
    Take the time to get used to using this machine as all chairs are different and the folding electric chairs are nothing like conventional electric-
    Children & Adults alike will take time to get used to this chair and once sorted all good-
    People of all ages with Additional needs will require extra help in using….
    Personally a actual conventional electric or power chair is the better option as an easier straightforward option for using…
    Thanks 😊

      WE are actual users and have spent all summer trying to make this chair work for us. No there is no technique that would have stopped this chair with me in it going down the hill, It is actually very dangerous with adult my size 250lbs on declines. It will not stop. It absolutely cannot even come close to moving me up our hill and barely gets my ten year old grandson up the hill. We have to help the chair down the hill with it at an angle due to the fact that the motors are not strong enough to compensate for the angle with him in it. It comes close but cannot. I always have the chair fully charged using this extremely cheaply built charger that gets too hot to touch. I was a network administrator and worked with electrical equipment including solar panels and lithium batteries. I know what im doing with this chair but it simply cannot perform the task we need it for. If you are going to use it for in house or level ground it will work fine for most people but i would not be claiming this chair will work for a 330lb person.
      Thanks
      P.S. Do you really want to talk about the remote control that comes with this chair???

  • @madmark1957
    @madmark1957 Рік тому

    You're not gonna like this but none of the chairs of that type of design will run much on grass except where the grass is very short and the ground under the grass is very smooth. It isn't just that one it's all of them. The problem isn't the power in the motors it doesn't have tires that are designed for that, look at the difference between the tires on your 12v car and the tires on the chair. Now you might say that if the motors had the power the tires would spin but the way the whole thing is designed even the 2000w ones don't spin the tires.
    I have a Rubicon although a different model and it stops just fine going downhill. I weigh about 180lbs but my chair is rated only to 220lbs. I bought it a few months ago and am happy with it. The charger on mine is perfect and I have used it on 2 continents at different voltages and it has never got more than vaguely warm. The chair runs great and has a good range, it turns well but you need to watch those front wheels if the ground isn't fairly smooth. It doesn't run at all really on gravel or grass unless it is very short or the gravel very smooth and small pieces. If you want a chair to run him up and down that hill you will have to buy an all terrain or 4x4 in all probability. It will most likely cost 15k or more (you can get cheapies for a lot less but hard to find videos on them so could be a bit of a gamble). There are middle wheel drive chairs that might do the job although personally I doubt it. One of those would cost 4 or 5k and can go way up from there. Thing is if you can't find a video of a particular chair going up a hill it's cause it doesn't do it well enough for them to want you to see.

      It’s not about liking or not liking your comment. I was not out to hurt Rubicon but I did want to show people that if the company claims the chair can run in all terrain and up steep inclines like they claim 12 degree hills is what they say in rain, snow or mud then I want people to see the truth. I didn’t make claims I showed people what the chair can and cannot do. It has uses for us. I showed those but it definitely cannot do what the company claims and there is no other user as far as I have seen in 2 years showing the chair attempting the things that the company claims it can do with a 330lb person in the chair and I am nowhere near that and it cannot climb small inclines in the grass. If your happy with your chair I am happy for you. We on the other hand are not happy with ours but it does allow us to go outdoors easier so we kept it. My point is for Rubicon and others who sell these just tell the truth to those buying these things because false information effects those in need of these chairs. I had to pay for mine not insurance so many are in the same situation as me. I want to save those people a couple thousand dollars on something that won’t work outdoors.
      Now I personally also saw an $800 electric mobility scooter get a 200lb woman up our hills easily so you don’t have to spend $6000 on an all terrain chair. I wish I new this information ahead of time. That’s the purpose of my video. Also the difference with the kids 12v ride on car really?? have you ever seen those? they look cool but ride on a tread thats less then an old ten speed bike. The tread is for looks only but it still made it up the hill.

      I was not attacking you I was just trying to point out that no chair in this class will get up your hill. Mine goes uphill quite poorly and cannot be used for one of the purposes I bought it for so it too is relegated to situational use only. What model of mobility scooter was it that got up the hill? I am asking as I have a use for something with that kind of capability.@@PapaPR3232

      I didnt pay attention to the model she had but when she got here we told her how steep it was and she didnt even blink an eye. I think any of the mobility scooters with the steering in front will make it as did our kids 12v ride on car. Its this style with the rear tank style steering in the back that have troubles due to the angle of the hill. We went this route because we wanted to easily put it in a vehicle without modifications. I had my doubts but the advertisement convinced me. We still use the chair to get up the hill but have to help him steer it. Also i knew i was buying it for a 70lb boy and figured it could easily get him up it. I showed how the chair cannot do almost any of the things they claim with me in it to save adults with disabilities from making a mistake and buying this chair for a similar purpose.

      I hope you can find a good one. I uploaded this video to save people from making the same horrible mistake we did. we needed one so bad but wasted $1700 on this and will take us a year at least to recover from this purchase. If your not going to use it on hills and if your under 250lbs it would probably be ok. The charger is junk, the remote is extremely difficult to use and it doesnt work well with angles. home use is ok. It looks good and welds are good.

      I'm very happy with my Rubicon It takes me up hills and had an anti flip feature You are a bit deceptive. I bought a higher grade, though.

      @@deborahlandau3275 Im glad your happy with your different model chair. How exactly am i deceptive while showing on video what the chair can and cannot do? Deceptive is telling your customers this chair can take up to 330lb person in all terrain. In mud and rain and snow up 12 degree grades. That is what this company claims. I showed actual footage of what the chair can and cannot do. Nobody has done this. All you find is sellers showing the chair going through a park with super low grass and eventually up a very small incline with a 150lb or so person. I originally planned to show how good the chair does in these condition because nobody does but instead i found out why nobody shows it. My backyard is difficult. Alot of peoples real life situations will be similar. I showed how the chair truthfully performs. It has some good uses but it will not perform according to the companies claims and can very well harm someone.

    you have to get a off road model,, or cut a ramp into the side hill and install pavers,, other chairs are the same in grass,,

      Take a moment and read the advertisement for this chair. PLEASE READ THEIR CLAIMS IN THIS FOLLOW UP VIDEO ua-cam.com/video/3HJqTSvMxCc/v-deo.html AT 2:44 They claim it is designed for all terrain and can carry a person 330lb in it. I bought a powered chair that claims to be able to do these things so i wouldnt have to spend several thousands to build a ramp down the hill. Also im sure you know the cost of off road model wheelchairs, very expensive plus would need mods to my vehicle and cant take most of them in tight indoor situation. I needed a foldable chair that can also go up some inclines. A scooter easily makes it up this hill but he cant drive them in his condition.

    all due respect, you are asking for a lot, and there are a lot of reviews of chairs that show how they do in grass,, if the grass is not in golf coarse condition then that is what you can expect from the folding chairs

      Im not asking more then what the company is advertising the chair can do. PLEASE READ THEIR CLAIMS IN THIS FOLLOW UP VIDEO ua-cam.com/video/3HJqTSvMxCc/v-deo.html AT 2:44 . If what your saying is true then that is how the chair needs to be advertised. They claim it can carry a 330lb person in all terrain conditions. In rain,snow and mud and up steep inclines. I bought the chair to get a 70lb boy up our hill but the way they advertised the chair it should easily carry me up it. Yes there are many advertisements showing the chairs in grass but it’s short cut level grass very small inclines. I showed what real life people will go through if they choose to go into the outdoors. Uneven normal height grass and ground
