Yeah, Colosseum and Gale of Darkness were the only reliable access you had to Ho-oh and Lugia in Gen 3 if you missed out on the Navel Rock event tickets.
Never in my life have I felt such a strong need to go back in time and be part of smant's chat during this steam just so I can fight him on his time take. It's such a maddening "solution" to timezones and absolutely fixes NOTHING. i wish this was the part of the vod that i usually tune out as background noise. instead this is exactly what i hone in on lmao
1:03:30 nice to know I'm not the only one who does that humming and whistling. 2:33:00 people like to mention farmers regarding daylight savings, but it literally exists (at least still) because some politician didn't like the idea of kids waiting outside in the dark for the bus during the winter.
Bruh but the tirade about the timezones tho XD how can one be so confidently wrong? And the worst thing is he is confident BECAUSE he is pretty smart, I would not say otherwise lol. But ouch, it always hurts to watch someone say something and make fun of others while being the fool
I never touched either Colosseum or Gale of Darkness until I did a Ribbon Master run, game felt pretty cool. Double battles all the time was super cool
Communication is precisely where the single-timezone plan falls apart. With our current system we have to remember that each region is +/-X amount of hours ahead/ behind. There is admittedly potential for confusion there, but with a single timezone you instead have to learn the different standard working hours for every single location on earth. Ant (and a large chunk of the chat) is only focusing on keeping track of your own time. Like sure- you could get used to 6 o'clock being the new "midnight" where you live, but every time you communicated with someone from another country and tried to schedule something, you'd have to be like "Okay so what are your daylight/ working hours?" for each region. That's definitely more to keep track of than just saying "4pm GMT" or something, it would only lead to more confusion, it's a very short-sighted and ill thought-through plan.
This game has been firmly in my number one spot of all games since I first played it as a child, as dumb as a kid as I was I sold it along with my gamecube when my brother and I decided we wanted a playstation. I’m more than ecstatic to see the “weirdest pokémon” game being uploaded by the weirdest pokémon streamer 😂 Let’s goooo
That timezone talk is the most dumbest I've heard in awhile. While having everyone on the same time seems good, it doesn't help when you won't know what time they're sleeping or at work. Let's talk at 4 (like he said), you have no basis on what the actual morning, night or when they're sleeping. 4am or 4pm could be when they're sleeping or working. Oh you could tell them, I work or sleep from this time. Now instead of calculating the time zone, you now have to learn and remember what time frame of reference night time or morning time is depending on what is "normal" time. Where 12am will be noon and noon will be 12am. Ant literally just made more work than it already is. And I love how he completely doesn't understand the fact if you travel and aren't in one area for the rest of your life, you'll have to learn that noon will be changing in this new time that Ant has created, which is retarded.
What you are describing are problems with how our current time-zone system works as well, the only difference is that, in your last example, it actually works *better* because jet-lag is much easier to understand since your body would be used to falling asleep at the same time, which wouldn't change if everyone used the same absolute time
@@imaginaryboy2000 it's more that we already understand time zones and adding and subtracting hours is easier cause we're used to it. Trying to understand that East Coast noon (12pm) and Asia noon are completely different times of the day but somehow the exact same time now 🤣. The complications that you would have to do to learn what is morning, night etc seems like a nightmare
thank you! god, the time zone bit was actually an insane take and i cant believe chat got told off for it as if having to coordinate what time to talk to eachother across different countries is a bigger issue than the ones timezones solve. theres also absolutely no way you could just implement something like this nowadays and fairly decide who gets to stay in the rhythm theyve literally always known. just put different timezones on your clock app instead and the problem is already solved lol.
getting older one might fear the younger generation to edge one out, but reading twitch chat... no problem... the next generation is just so much dumber
1:48:51 Total L take. If the day ever comes that people are forced to share their identity on the internet, then everybody will constantly be swatted by people who never actually say anything on the internet.
The reason for the "XD" in the title is that Lugia for the longest time didn't have a name and was called "Pokemon X" and they added the "D" for Darkness
Time zone talk makes no sense. If a news station reports a on a crime that happened at 12PM, then it doesn't matter where on this planet you live you'll know it happened in the middle of the day at that specific time zone. But with global time you'd have to look up that country's/state's/continent's entire time schedule just to even know if the crime happened during the day or night.
The fact that this a game that goes under people radar is unfortunate. As someone who has played pretty much every pokemon game ever, I can say with confidence that Coliseum/XD are among the, of not the, very best in the series.
What everyone should do is just do a one time conversion of their local times into UTC and keep/advertise it as needed. Then if anyone wants to coordinate you just look at your UTC daily schedule and see when would be best. I.e. "I wake up at 1400, I work from 1600-2400, my lunch is at 2000, I eat dinner around 0300 and I'm in bed by 0700" Now you still live your day to day life by your local time and can reference that so universally everybody knows if it is late or early in the day. But when you need to coordinate both people can suggest time in UTC that work with their individual schedules by this reference. "We should call again at 1400. No that's too early, but my lunch is at 2000, would that work for you?" This way you're avoiding the conversion for every conversation but don't lose the ability to just tell someone "yeah its almost 2100 here, I should start getting ready for bed." If we got rid of all time zones, you would have to establish what "late" and "early" is for your area every time you communicate with someone. There is merit for both universal and local times, but when where and how to use the universal time should be more widely practiced and taught to make communication and coordination using it more practical.
aside of the game, I loved the whole timezone conversation. Ant went from being a genious to a dumb-as-brick in 0.1 seconds. Never in my life have I seen a man fall that fast from a pedestal.
the singular timezone would make storytelling hell. Easier to communicate and plan ahead, but listening to a story when people explain what they did at 8 am and that's midnight for you would require you to always know what timezone the person you were communicating with in order to understand the context of the story.
Smant coming up with the absolute time metric and having to realize that people look at their clocks more than the giant ball of plasma that's been there almost fourteen billions years, Twitch chat is amazing but sometimes, just sometimes, they miss bad
The thing is, we already have an absolute time but it is very rarely used. In the military we call it Zulu time and its whatever time it is in London where the prime meridian is. It's still confusing because you'll be looking at a satellite image of a random country and in the data for that image you'll have the Zulu time for when it was captured but then you still have to translate that into local time to have situational awareness about what's going on there at that time. You can say "Oh this was taken at 1634Z" but then nobody inherently understands what that translates to for Iraq, North Korea, Colombia, etc. when they need to know if it makes sense for X to be occurring in the image at that time so they have to translate it to local time anyways. Also like they alluded to with travel, it makes sense for everyone in an area to be on the same page with things like when school/business/work is going to be open. We all operate on a schedule that makes sense to our time zone but with there being no time zone you're gonna have schools and businesses and whatnot just opening and closing at arbitrary times that conflict with one another and make getting errands done more difficult. If one school starts at 1400Z and another 50 miles West starts at 1600Z and they're trying to do some kind of after school activity with one another like a football game the kids at the first school are gonna have to wait an extra two hours just to play in the game all because both schools are operating at semi-arbitrary times. Doesn't seem like a big deal until you realize the kids at the first school are then going to need to do homework before the game and the kids at the second school are going to have to rush to get ready. Now imagine the same thing going on but you have a kid to pick up at school 1 and work doesn't start until 1800Z and also the grocery store closes an hour before you get off and you won't have time to go to the post office after work because they open 4 hours before you go into work and close before you leave. Everybody can schedule their lives better when they operate in a band of the globe where for the most part things start around 9 and end around 5 (or base their hours of operation off of that like a bar opening at 5 and closing at 2 in the morning or whatever). Trust me, if this could improve things the military would already be looking into doing it if not adopted it already.

2:35:22 literally no one would change, because why do YOU get to have noon as 12, but our noon is 3am?? Because whoever got to keep their time would be considered the superior country and everyone would be fighting. I think the best thing would be to have 2 time systems. 1 as the normal time, what we have now. And a new 24hour time that everyone uses, call it WST (world standard time) or something. There would still be fighting about who gets to have their time be the matching one, but less so And after awhile, the newer generations would get sick of the 2 time system, prioritize their internet connection time, and start to drop the old time. While yes, in a globalized world such as we live in right now we can keep one universal time, that's not how we think about the day... time zones are not that confusing, in fact they simplify our lives immensely. I was taken a little aback by how fucking condescending you were, how confidently wrong when you explain to chat how much easier it would be if we were no longer able to relate information about the time of the day by telling the time. If I say to my Malaysian pen pal it is 3 am here, she understands without any explanation(or knowledge of my location for that matter) that I am probably sleepy or whatever cuz it is 3am. And 3am, no matter where you grow up or how much you know about other countries is 3am. Globalization has given us the ability to have more accurate time zones but no one that thinks about it objectively would get rid of them. And I do understand what you are saying, I do. It is just that your reasoning is flawed , so you arrived at a reasonable conclusion sure, but you are misunderstanding the question. Telling time is not just about setting meetings and everyone being there at the same time, telling time has from its very conception been a way to tell where the sun is in the sky, for the area. You are incorrect because you were looking for reasons to bolster your own position without for a second taking the time to think about yourself critically. So drunken in self-righteousness that you made fun of people that were not incorrect in their gripes, just not effective at conveying what their concerns actually were. No big lesson to learn here I expect you may not ever see this but if you do, I hope you just learn the importance of understanding not just what we use time for, but what it tells us. Big fan, will keep watching. I am not angry, I feel I should say that hahahah, no cancelling here. Just feedback

You just can't explain something so basic to a retard who plays Pokemon games, instead of having a real job.
Bold of you to assume I've played any Pokémon games.
