    Wow! The outcome is amazing. I've acquired an interest in jewelry making so I'm totally fascinated by this process! I've read Rhodium prices are more expensive than gold and that Rhodium isn't used to make jewelry but instead used only to plate jewelry because it's too brittle when it's thick (and very expensive). When you mentioned the color was dull battleship grey instead of shiny silver when left in the Rhodium bath solution too long, was it also more brittle or just more unattractive? Or both? Thanks for an interesting video! 👍

    One more thing... can a Sterling chain be successfully Rhodium plated? I love Sterling but every time I wear any of my 925 Sterling chains, they turn black and it becomes a real chore to restore it to its once beautiful luster. Thanks!

      Walmart and other stores sell this silver polish in a jar,like a creamy kind for about $4.. Your sterling shouldn't turn black RIGHT away but depending on the creams,perfumes,chemicals etc..on your skin that it touches and the way you store it patina will occur naturally over time. I've made it a habit to polish my silver every 3-4 months..it feels almost therapeutic lol and keeps it looking great..
      I totally agree though ,this is SUCH a fascinating process! I wish I would have taken more of an interest in chemistry in my youth lol

    Iv always been facinated well quiet literally driven crazy buy rhodium but very beautiful I lost old pictures of a piece I had in it's hay day. A smaller piece was damaged during moveing and weather still plyable like coper with a shell hard to explain. I do believe it binds better to certain metals but I'm just guessing very little of anything to do with bearly gold was from a skilled man in cini

    Hello sir! I have bought a 24 K necklace and I cleaned it with the mix of dishwashing detergent, lemon, and water. I put the mixture into a milk can
    and boiled the gold necklace about 10minutes then I could see my necklace turn into white colour. It’s a fake gold or real one?

    If you have a small pendant with some stones it the plating will not effect the stones correct?

    • @GoldPlatingServices
      @GoldPlatingServices  7 років тому +1

      The only stones we know of that are affected are Turquoise. All precious gems such as Diamonds, emeralds, rubies, etc. and also cubic zirconium and glass type gems are not affected whatsoever. There may be some that are but in 28 years of plating jewelry we've only had turquoise be affected.

    You mentioned that Rhodium is about as hard as Chrome, with this being the case is it possible to remove rhodium using the same process as used to remove chrome with the Jewel Master chrome edition?

      That's a great thought but unfortunately, no. We don't know of any way to strip rhodium chemically.

    Will it stick do stones? Do I have to disassemble my ring to do this?

    • @thejanssen6030
      @thejanssen6030 3 роки тому +3

      It will not stick to stone. It's an electroplating process, so it will not plate non-conductive materials such as stones or the container that it is in.

      No, it'll contaminate the rhodium.

    Hi I have a question I'm hoping someone will kindly answer. I'm looking into making jewelry as a means of business but I want to only offer my customers non-tarnishing pieces and I'm wondering if I can purchase simple non expensive pieces like just silver toned pieces and plate them so they are longer lasting or completely non tarnish. Or would it be cheaper and quicker to buy the pieces that have already been treated?
    Any ideas? Please let me know and if it's best I do some non tarnish coating at home myself where can I purchase this machine that you are showing and around how much is the cost of the liquids etc and how much use can I get out of them? Can the liquids be used more than once or must they be discarded after each use?

    Ok then, can you rhodium plate over stainless steel?

    • @GoldPlatingServices
      @GoldPlatingServices  6 років тому

      You sure can as long as you prep the piece using the correct preparation chemicals. We have another video that shows how to plate onto stainless steel using the JewelMaster. You would follow those same steps and then Rhodium plate it. Electroclean, Strike, Gold plate, Rhodium plate. Rhodium is best plated on top of gold but is not always strictly a necessary procedure.

    • @GoldPlatingServices
      @GoldPlatingServices  6 років тому

      Also, Rhodium wouldn't be very dramatically different in color than stainless steel, therefore we have never had this inquiry. That doesn't mean there is no need for it at all, however.

    Can these machines chrome plate?

    • @GoldPlatingServices
      @GoldPlatingServices  6 років тому

      Because of the extensive environmental regulations involving hexavalant chromium, we have chosen not to offer Chrome Plating Solutions. The kit will funciton with Chrome Plating Solutions, if all other solution needs are met, however we do not support this.
