    GREAT video. However, the restore dates only go back one week. I need a restore date of at least 10 days. (I clicked the box to 'show more' and no additional dates were shown). I remember in the past (before '7') I would be presented with a calendar I could choose a date that way. Thanks!

    • @EasyPcRepairs
      @EasyPcRepairs  9 років тому +1

      +Steve Wojciechowski Unfortunately Windows 7 won't give you the opportunity to restore your computer back to anything other than the dates shown to you. If there isn't a date that you want to restore back to, there is no other options using system restore.

    THat's fine if your computer can boot. If you can't boot the computer you need to press f8 and then start in safe mode with command prompt then type rstrui into command prompt. This will allow you to system restore to when windows was able to boot up.

      In that situation it's best to use a Windows recovery disk. That will allow you to use system restore even when Windows isn't working properly. Or you could use the Windows recovery disk to repair Windows instead.

    • @EasyPcRepairs

      An easy way to get a network adapter is to update Windows. That works very often, but not every time. If that doesn't work for you, find which network card you have, then download a driver from the network card manufacturer's website.

    Thanks in advance for your help!

    • @EasyPcRepairs
      @EasyPcRepairs  7 років тому

      As you go through the system restore wizard, choose 'show more system restore points'. If there's still no restore points before you had a problem, system restore cannot help. Whilst Windows will automatically create restore points, it's best to create one yourself when your computer is running well. That way you can go back to it if a problem occurs.

    can i change my date and time settings and create a restore point? so that i can revert my computer's state to that earlier time??

    • @EasyPcRepairs
      @EasyPcRepairs  6 років тому

      Windows will create its own restore points. The options it gives you are the options that you have. If you want to create your own restore point, it will time/date stamp it for today. If you change the time/date and then create a restore point, it will revert back to how your computer was when you created the restore point, not how it was when you set the time/date. Hope that makes sense. I guess the simple answer to your question is... no.

    Hey so when i click on system restore it brings this up: No restore points have been created on your computer's system drive. to create a restore point open system protection. I run on windows 7 and recently i have done something that makes my chrome very slow and my computer as a whole im assuming a virus of some sort.

    • @EasyPcRepairs
      @EasyPcRepairs  10 років тому

      If you have no restore points then you'll have no choice but to tackle the problem in a different way. Some things you could try are uninstalling any recently installed programs, use an anti-spyware program and run Windows checkdisk. I'm assuming you've already tried running an anti-virus. I'm just throwing some general ideas your way as I don't know the specific details of the problem. Hope that helps.

    At 1:40 in your video, mine shows 'no restore points have been created on your computer's system drive' and the Next button is not clickable. Is there any other way? I need to system restore because it started after I removed a certain file or software, which is detected to have a 'bad reputation' by my computer, I cannot browse on any internet browser, I cannot even download an update for windows. I'm fully connected to the internet via wifi and it said 'internet access'. All other gadgets are able to browse the internet except for that one. Need help please??????

    • @EasyPcRepairs
      @EasyPcRepairs  9 років тому

      mikelpaulo15 This may be stating the obvious but did you try clicking on 'Show more restore points' when you reached the window that read something like 'you have no restore points'?

    • @mikelpaulo15
      @mikelpaulo15 9 років тому

      EasyPcRepairs there's no "Show more restore points" on the window. the only clickable items were Cancel and Create Restore point. Before this, I was able to do a system restore early this year. Maybe the option for automatically creating a restore point was turned off(accidentally) after I performed the last system restore.

    • @EasyPcRepairs
      @EasyPcRepairs  9 років тому

      mikelpaulo15 I think you could be right, system restore might be turned off. As one last attempt I would try going into Windows in 'Safe Mode' then try system restore again. It may or may not work but it's worth a go. It won't do your computer any harm trying this.

    Hi sorry in advance for a dumb question. I seem have some sort of virus, I'm seeing 2 random files, an internet Shortcut and a TExt file, they are both saved as Decryption Instruction. When I tried to open the Shortcut MS Security Essentials Blocks it and the Text gives me a pop up saying I don't have access.
    They two files are littered throughout my Folders. It looks MS Excel is corrupted or at least where these files are showing up.
    The Creation DAtes seems to be the same throughout, so I'm assuming that is when I got infected. I think I have everything backed up on Google Drive and a external Hard Drive So I"m too worried about losing anything super important.
    My question, finally, if I follow your instructions and go back to a restore point before the creation date listed will those bad files go away? Or another way to ask the same questions will System Restore far enough back get ride of my issues?
    Thanks for your help, great site, very clear guidance. I appreciate it and will definitely keep you in mind if there is any business I can refer to you. .

If instead, your problem is a corrupted file or files, try this video instead... ua-cam.com/video/sRsLPnzDDEA/v-deo.html . The other video I've recommended will show how to automatically resolve any corrupted files and will work with any Windows version.

    Janu 2015 update. The sound effect did go when i used "restore". Importantly I went at different times before i thought Systemcare erased no luck. Oddly inspite this a message saying it wasn't restored successfully and something like - l120.bpl file was missing, that's why it wasn't successful.
    As i said it went to the selected time in the past.

    Some one deleted files from my work computer. Could system restore bring those files back? It was two weeks ago. Thank you for the help

      System Restore won't bring back your deleted files. There are programs out there on the Internet that can potentially bring back deleted files though.

      nickygoddard One of your programs is hanging (it's got stuck). Go to 'Task Manager' and select the 'Processes' tab. One of those programs will most likely be the culprit. You can shut down the programs individually. When you close a program and your pc is back to normal, you'll know that that is the problem program (don't close 'Explorer.exe'). They will all start again when you restart your pc but at least you'll know the offending program.

    i have a problem.
    whenever i start my pc it always shows the 2002 year like time to me.
    i have tried many things,but couldn't fix this problem.
    what should i do?

    • @EasyPcRepairs
      @EasyPcRepairs  9 років тому

      mehul patel This is because the battery on your motherboard needs replacing. The motherboard battery holds certain information whilst your pc is off (such as the time). Replace the battery then set up the correct time in the bios. Then all will be back to normal.

      EasyPcRepairs But i have desktop system so there is no issue related to battery right?

    • @EasyPcRepairs
      @EasyPcRepairs  9 років тому

      mehul patel There's a battery on the motherboard in desktop PCs. This is the only way manufacturers can make the computer keep the correct time as the PC will have no other power when it's turned off. It's a small round battery that should be quite easy to spot and replace.

      It doesn't take too long but will vary from one pc to the next. Most pcs will complete a system restore in about 5 minutes.

    Tried it and restore points are all up to 1 week back max. Cannot see before that? Is there a maximum time frame for the restore points to stay or something? If they last so little will not be of much help. Will just have to use others that are not from Microsoft like Rollback Rx unless this can be solved.

    • @EasyPcRepairs
      @EasyPcRepairs  8 років тому

      +Cooper Bennett System restore isn't as good on Windows 7 as it was on XP (as in, you often cannot restore back as far). So unfortunately, if the right restore points are not showing up for you, system restore won't be of any help. System restore is great at resolving fairly recent problems, but I guess that doesn't help your particular problem though.

    so say i unistalled steam games and all of the sudden my desktop icons and such were deleted and i used system restore. will they come back? because i don't know if they were deleted or just removed from the desktop

    • @EasyPcRepairs
      @EasyPcRepairs  10 років тому

      Icecreamday Catlin You can use system restore and then if it doesn't do what you wanted it to do you can use it again to change it back (that is back to how it was before you used system restore, back to where you started).

      For that you'll need a third party app that will undelete your deleted files.

    my windows 7 don't make system restore points or delete them. Even if I make manually restore point it's just disappear!!! What to do ?

    • @EasyPcRepairs
      @EasyPcRepairs  9 років тому

      +Petar Rafailov It may be that your system restore is turned off. Try turning it on by clicking on Start, right click Computer and select Properties, click on System Protection, click on your C: drive then select Configure. To turn on System Restore, click on 'Restore system settings and previous versions of files'. Then select OK, then select OK again.

      GAPvids Most likely system restore would bring those programs back. It won't hurt to try as a system restore can be undone as well if needed.
