I doubt humanity could respond to an actual alien invation so well but the story and the A I reading were good enough for an upvote.

True, but that would be so funny and cool though.

Nice upbeat story. Doubt that humanity would actually be able to live up to this IRL lol. But still an enjoyable story that hopefully inspires a few of us to try to live up to the Godlike, Righteously Divine Nature! Of not only standing up against Evil, but giving open arms to those who need it and compassion enough to turn an Evil enemy into a repentant righteous friend!

This is one of the better HFY stories I have heard, so many of them I cant even finish. It still has big problems with pacing and time tables, and plot holes. What happened to the 17 prior attacks on Earth before this war started? Did we wait all the way to the 18th attack before we decided to learn anything?
Anyway, unfortunately humans tend to not be so altruistic. It why I find star trek, as much as I like it, flawed. People are greedy, secretive, small minded and power hungry. Many people that have their strong morals on display are doing it just for show or to ease their guilty conscious. Their morals are not rigid oaks but like wheat. They will bend them out of the way to take advantage of a situation then move them back and pretend it never happened, but only if they can do it unobserved to anyone they know.
I am in my 50s I have seen people do horrible things then later tell stories where they were the innocent party in the situation. They just edit the truth they don't want to feel guilty about. Or just forget it happened entirely.
There is nothing like catching up with friends you haven't seen in 20 years and they start rehashing a story you were present for, only to hear them remove themselves from the bad guy perspective to the innocent guy or add to the story that changes them to the good guy.
I am a big believer in owning your past. It is what happened, you either live with the guilt, go apologize and don't expect forgiveness, go make amends or do a self imposed penance where you work off the guilt. But accept the past and learn from it, become better.
Dont be that person who does something shady then asks their deity for forgiveness and move on like your a good person. If you have to ask a "god" for forgiveness for your action you need to fix it here not in the heavens.
    Sorry for the rant.

You know what's interesting about this type of story is that it's kind of fulfilling a prophecy. If that actually happens. We always tell stories about what could and what would. Now imagine if it happened we may have our differences. We may be fighting each other and all that but if we get all together it ain't going to be a good time for them. Aliens

the proposed railguns are designed for tungsten instead of lead because tungstesn is 1.7 times as dense as lead. Of the few elements more dense than tungsten, half are radioctive.

Personally, I would like to see more frequent references to laundry detergent in this story. I mean, c’mon guys.

And here I thought I’d actually hear a sci fi story without Sarah Chen in it. Lawdy that girl do get around and has a life span greater than Methoulsa! That was probably misspelled!
