As wonderful as it is to listen to this piece, it is a thousand times more transcendent and spiritual to play it for oneself...and what an experience it is.
I'd say it's rather easy to play, especially since you can play it really slow. What makes this piece rather difficult is the emotional basis, that's something not everyone can master.
I have to play it ( i play the piano,so....) and the right hand is playable after 2 hours of training and the left hand repetes the whole time. I still think it isnt that easy to play because there are very very very many little and big crescendos etc. and you have to be very emotional...
Читая комментарии , всегда удивляюсь , как люди чувствуют все нюансы в игре того или иного музыканта , я не музыкант и улавливаю только красоту мелодии .
An extremely well performance. Each individual note is done justice. Emphasis is never to strong, the romantic thought is present and enlightens the audience.
I'd like to think they recorded him in the practicing Before the show, and not During (the chairs are empty). Beautiful playing, the trills, the sustain and the time (y)
Very well played! The pianist captured the essence of the song, at least for me. That's how this is meant to be, lots of other players played it too... linear? Without feeling? Something like that.
I rejoice with this performance in an empty hall. Look at the bright side...no audience to cough, sneeze, and hack their way through the playing. Pure music, just like God intended. Wouldn't change a thing.
Which exam were you preparing ? How long had your been playing piano at this time ? You must be very talented 8 years later 😊 I'm working on this right now ☺️
Think of Mendelssohn in Venice, hearing a woman singing in a gondola a bit further off about her love affair.... the thrill and ecstasy....the let down after it all ended.......
I don't know if it's him and the fact that outern people are less likely to understand a stranger kind of music by a lack of tradition, or the sound quality, but he gives me no sensation, I'm pianist and I play it, but (of course, it is and advantage) I've been born and grown in Europe... This song was meant to give a sensation of flowing water by the ternarious style, and the melody at the right hand is voice and every movement the Gondellier makes... Hear at Baremboim, that is the softness.
@PUGutierrez The interpretation by Mr. Nagai is simply superlative. PUGutierrez, I bet if you were blindfolded you couldn't even tell the difference between a piano and a guitar. Why don't YOU upload a video and show us how it is done?
It's not hard... You just need to practice! It has some "jumps" on the left hand but with some time practicing them you can do it! (Sorry for my English but I'm portuguese...)
@atchicago1 Give me 3 months, i'm getting on piano again, runned out of pianos from some months ago and couldn't study even 3 hours per day, but no worries, i'm fixing it, and I haven't lost my touch ;D (I don't like to talk nonsense, what I've said about this rachmaninoff piece it's because I've played it, but words won't make as acts will do, I know it.) ( I won't say a thing about the guitar and piano comment, Im not in high degree ABRSM to feel attacked by such stupidity.)
(I woud be pathetic at playing Asian music, or at least, I would play it with real mediocrity, it's totally understandable, it's all about tradition, it's hard to feel something you haven't born with, or more likely, it's easier to feel the style what you've born with, but at the same time, it closes doors to others styles, if you're not lucky enough to have at your reach the music of all the world, by saying ''lucky'' I'm talking about country, political situation, parents...)
@stevenwins2012 You surely know nothing about the music understandings, when you've grown up with a background music of your culture, it gets in blood to ones as it can't get in theory to others, that's why i refered to Asian as I would suck to it. Anyway, as said ahead, I will demonstrate about what I said about the piece, a piece that I've been playing for a while, not racist a bit, when you get to play this sort of things, you'll see what its to talk about concertist level.
+Alexander Müller Ich finde, es klingt etwas langweilig. Die Dynamik, Phrasierung könnte stärker sein und es wirkt nicht sehr leidenschaftlich. Natürlich trotzdem sehr gut, aber ich habe mehr erwartet.
It's really a beautiful interpretation... full of emotion, thank you SO much for sharing it with us.With admiration and gratitude.
Lovely played. I especially like his frills - brilliant and relaxed.
Trills I meant!
As wonderful as it is to listen to this piece, it is a thousand times more transcendent and spiritual to play it for oneself...and what an experience it is.
Excellent, so clear. I can hear almost every note seperately. Best performance of this song, ever

Music tells stories - men of this age have a lot of them.

he notado q la técnica de los pianistas de origen asiático es impecable. se nota q sus escuelas de música trabajan mucho ese punto. excelente
I'd like to think they recorded him in the practicing Before the show, and not During (the chairs are empty). Beautiful playing, the trills, the sustain and the time (y)

I know.I played it once in the Jubilee and won a scholarship
really great! but i was wandering ... is this considered a hard song to play? i am deciding weather or not to play it.
Preciosa, estoy tocándola también y da gusto; preciosa.
It's not hard... You just need to practice! It has some "jumps" on the left hand but with some time practicing them you can do it! (Sorry for my English but I'm portuguese...)
Its not that hard... i learned it in 3-4 weeks. (bear in mind ive played piano for 10 years) but im sure you can do it :) good luck

小s
A little loud
I think I played this better at age 14.
+Noemi V What did you find bad?
sorry if i'm boasting , but i can play better than him
He is pretty good why don't you just enjoy the music
Then upload a video of you playing it
Better in which way? There are the notes, which he plays perfectly, and the interpretation...
Yes
...😰👎
Why?
