The Crow Salvation film wasn't too bad. Eric Mabius was a decent Crow. The car chase with the helicopters and the Rob Zombie music was my favorite scene.
Nothing beats the original. I love the concept of all the movies, but Brandon Lee is of course my fav and I’ve even got a tattoo of him on the back of my leg ❤
Ironically, this was the first Crow movie I ever saw, and it’s definitely an underrated flick. I like that it takes influence from The Crow but still has its own unique feel and original story.
As a crow fan in general I actually enjoyed this film. The visuals, cinematography, acting, and story... right down to the uniqueness of him getting his crow look. Underrated to me for sure!
I enjoyed not only this one but the one with Edward Furlong, Tara Reid and David Boreanaz in it but the OG Crow is still top dog to me. It can't rain all the time.
@IkeamarcosGarnado-gd7xi it really doesn't feel like a crow story to me... even though it's based on the original crow. Even more so because of that. The other films at least gave the environment an ethereal feel with the world. The Reboot feels like every action film since John Wick. I'm sure it'll have amazing action but it doesn't feel like a crow film to me.
@@RedSplinter36 personally i think the majority of action scenes from the trailer are just from the final chapter it looks like. some opera house. they definitley got the gore right if they took inspiration from the comic xD. salvation was ok. it just looked cheap at times. one scene i never get out of my head is how his hair cut changes in the scene where he jumps off the prison roof lol but i didnt mind the overall movie. atleast they didnt repeat "kill the bird to sever his link to the afterlife" a third time in this one.
I know nothing about acting and everything else I kinda like this version with crow sequels is different version of crow same As crow comics with female crow and japan yakuza crow with tattoos that’s how I look at crow sequels there bad but good better than remake this year
Mabius is kinda how i imagined Skarsgård would look pre photo reveals. I imagined the shortish hair (Bill’s regular), the light make up (not using the burns, but just a more subdued look), very mild martial arts usage, but man was i wrong
3 hours? I doubt it would need to be that long. I just wish Tim Pope wasn't so terminally turned off from his film because, as an artist, I'd personally love a chance to right a creative wrong and to present my vision as intended. CoA would just need the right editing finesse. 3 hours is too long. Kinda like how I wish Fincher was able to go back to the assembly cut of Alien 3 and give a cut that resembles his vision the most, despite the fact that he was never given the opportunity to make the film he wanted. Close to spot on is better than being way off imo.
I like the visual of the protagonist in this movie, it's very authentic. I like the short hair, the scars instead of makeup and the prison uniform, especially the overall getting more and more messed and dirty in a way that reminds to the original. Too bad they tried to play safe with the plot... at least the second movie went with the father/son theme.
I like his look. And I gotta disagree with them saying he doesn’t look young enough. He definitely passes for a tv show teeneager. Especially after first seeing him in resident evil.
city of angels is right up there with the og imo. great change to a love story. Yeah, a different kind of love, but what father wouldn't revenge his child's death? I never saw this one tried to watch Edward's dumb ass crow movie. never cared about the horrible TV show. I might check it out one day, but I'm not sure about the remake.
Regardless of how closely it adheres to the formula of the original, Salvation deserves a bit of praise for the originality of the setup. Having the main character not straight up murdered, but instead framed is an interesting angle for sure.
The Crow: Salvation was passable. I enjoyed it for the most part. I liked it far better than City Of Angels. And I never saw whatever the Ed Furlong one was called. The original Crow, however, is among my top five favorite films of all time. I watch it every year on Devil's Night in Detroit after attending Twiztid's Fright Fest concert. 🎃
The Crow is a sequel booby trap. Alex Proyas’ vision and style and Brandon Lee’s performance are so good that it’s near impossible to do a film better than that.
The Crow: Salvation actually was the first movie I saw of the series when I was growing up. I really liked it, and without it, I may have never seen the first Crow movie. Or at least it would have taken me longer to watch.
I like Salvation, but one of my biggest criticisms was the casting of Mabius. He’s a good actor, but unlike the previous two leads, he’s not the least bit intimidating. Sometimes even looking like a goth Ronald McDonald.
This is just another example of me really enjoying a movie, but remembering that I've only seen it once when it came out on video. I may have really only rented it because I was already a huge fan of Kirsten Dunst at the time, but I didn't regret it. And yeah, regarding the ages? There are nine years between my baby sister and I and we're a lot closer than my siblings that I'm closer in age to.
The storyline of Salvation is similar to the first one, but I like the music better in Salvation than the other Crow movies. The first will always be my favorite though, Brandon was brilliant, he will always be a legend in my heart.
I actually enjoy The Crow: Salvation. Its not perfect, but there are a few gems within the movie. Like when Alex was going after the second cop I love the interaction when the cop, Vincent goes, "You're the guy who killed Dutton." Alex - "Vincent...I want you to think of me as the guy who killed you." Beats the hell out of the interaction in City of Angels, "Do you know how to fight?" "Do you know how to die?"
This movie has some great moments. I never put it together that Alex was supposed to be 19. I always saw him as young/mid 20s. There are some absolute cringe moments, but most could have been corrected with some decent editing. There are quite a few scenes that could be eliminated entirely that would greatly improve the film. I give it a solid second place in the franchise, as of today.
I actually really love all the Crow movies. I know not all of them are great. I know Wicked Prayer isnt a good movie by any means but I still find it charming and its also the meeting of two incredibla actors we never got to see work together again.
I actually liked this sequel. Honestly I enjoyed the first 3 flicks. Never bothered with Wicked Prayer, but also never got to watch the TV show Crow Stairway to Heaven (unfortunately). This one is the "least worst of" in the series, but I love the cast of mostly genre/character actors and the changed that were made to tweak it away from being a carbon copy of the original I didn't mind. They fit for the time period for me. You want to watch a Crow movie that you can riff on without looking like a jerk? Check this one out with some friends and potent potables/mind altering substances and have a good time!
What I saw of Wicked Prayer wasn't good so you didn't miss much. Stairway to heaven featured Mark Dacascos who was perfectly cast as Eric Draven but wasn't well received only lasting one season.
It’s definitely better than the Edward Furlong one. Salvation is still solid on its own and still has the trademark killer soundtrack with a bit for everyone.
I was always under the impression it was based on one of the latter novels based on the Crow, just like Wicked Prayer. Just like Wicked Prayer, they strayed too far away from the content in order to stay safe.
I remember seeing this movie back in the day and not hating it. Maybe not as good as the first movie but still decent, great compared to the other sequels. It felt different enough to not feel like a 1 to 1 retread of the first movie but not too different to feel like an unrelated movie someone slapped the Crow label on like some of the later Hellraiser movies.
i loved the city of angels. t was so fun and i loved that it was a different story. plus having the ADA from Law & Order as the villain was kush. Iggy Pop was a great character and the soundtrack kicked ass too. so people that didnt like it should've been proud of this one, because they took no risks
this was the best of the sequels, the acting was a little much, but the story, music and action was good enough to make me like it, the fact that it was dirty cops and not just thugs made the story interesting
The movie jumped the shark as soon as they put the face makeup on. Draven painted his face like the tragedy mask in his apartment. Sarah painted Ashe's face to look like Draven...more or less. But once you lose the connection to the first film, there's no fucking reason to have that makeup. Yeah, I realize they're scars in this movie, but c'mon...
I actually enjoyed this one. Granted I've only seen it once and that's when it first came out but it always stuck with me. After watching this I gotta get it on DVD now.
I actully liked this film no where near as good as the first film but still worth a watch i actually feel what lets alot of films down of this era was that they naughties movies which lost alot of that 90 grunge its makes them feel like tv shows rather then blockbuster movies.
I'm so glad you mentioned the soundtrack. I never saw this movie and I won't willingly do so. I may have seen the second one once many years ago. But I love the soundtracks to both of the sequels. There is nothing better than a compilation of b-sides and obscure bands. I like that you all mention the soundtracks in your WTF series it's turned me on to a couple. Maybe you should do a series on soundtracks of movies? Great tunes from terrible movies. (Your can have that title lololol). But from my limited research, music trivia is a bit more locked down than movies, so it would be a hellova b*tch to figure.
I hated it the first time I watched but I rewatched it a few years later (also after I had seen city of angels) & really liked it. It's in my top three crow's after The Crow and The crow stairway to heaven series
I didn't mind this one. There was just certain stuff that I wish they did better. Some of the special effects looked a little wonky compared to what we got in the very 1st movie
Kinda late to the party here lol, but IMO this is a decent movie that kinda fell victim to a time in film making (kinda like the child's play series when it became ......... Of Chucky) when the soundtrack was almost more important than the film itself. With that said, this was an awesome soundtrack!!
When the OST out sells the DVD. I cannot speak on this world wide but in my local CD WAREHOUSE, we had 2 stores, the only reason people even knew about a 3rd CROW film was because of the OST. NuMetal was huge, so getting OST's that had rare, hard to find songs from bands of the era were a hot comodity back then. But, yeah, most of my customer base bought the CD soundtrack and never saw the movie lol.
Soundtracks back then were awesome. Resident Evil Apocalypse, Queen of The Damned, The Scorpion King, Alone in the Dark, Dracula 2000. So many good ones. I honestly didn't even know this movie had a non-score soundtrack. I might have to check it out.
@@jimthar17 Heavy Metal 2000, Strangeland, Scream 3, Escape from L.A. (a few years prior). Pretty sure I still have those other ones on CD except Alone in the Dark. I was a GM at 2 CD Warehouse during that time. So, i got my hands on a lot of stuff that I still have today.
There was absolutely no reference to Lauren being raped in this movie. She saw something she shouldn't have and was chased down and stabbed 57 times after resisting. This movie is also a "who done it?" movie which is the prime thing that sets it apart from the original. Alex's look is different and this movie is as much about finding out the truth as it is getting vengeance. Bringing the story back to being about true love was the best decision as that is after all the original concept and the differences so it wasn't to similar to the OG are commendable. City of Angels was far more like the OG than this film despite the parallels. They just got someone who looked like Bandon and replaced a Girlfriend with a son. Other than that it's basically the same movie. The same cannot be said about Salvation. This film was a decent effort on a shoddy budget and fair play to them imo.
I remeber seeing this on the rack at Hastings and thinking "They made another Crow movie? Hey Kirsten Dunst is on here cool". Checked it out and I dug it. I liked how different it was and it was a good twist on "The innocent boyfriend convicted of her murder sentenced to death", "The girlfriend knew something about dirty cops so they killed her and pin it on the boyfriend" and that the makeup was scarring from the electric death mask he had to wear. I liked it because it was different, but had the spirit of the first two movies. Probably the quality and budget of the movie kind of hurt it as well since it resembled a "Straight to DVD" quality to it. If they had a bigger budget, probably could've looked better... but just my two cents. I can say this is MILES better than Edward Furlong's Version. Saw it at a buddy's place for 10 minutes and I thought it was a joke. Like a parody of "The Crow" movie. Especially him using a sharpie as the makeup... whaaaa? lol
Actually its a really good film on its own. That furlong one its uhmmm weird but this one its cool. The make up being a scar its a great idea! The music ando Score are the Let down plus the reborn scene its just another scene and that sucks cause thats the coolest part of crow 1 & 2!.
Missed opportunity that they never tried to adapt The Crow: Flesh and Blood. It would have given us a female protagonist avenging her death and that of her unborn child. Would have been an interesting variation on the formula instead of trying to recreate the original movie over and over again.
It’s both ironic and sad that no matter how a sequel turns out for The Crow it’ll get blasted for various reasons (City of Angels has flaws but, there’s a lot of heart and soul within that sequel but, the studio botched it by interfering!) The Crow Stairway to Heaven should not work but, for a syndicated tv adaptation it’s actually really strong if you view it through a alternative time line point of view… The Crow Salvation was made strictly as a tax shelter i don’t remember seeing any Promotional material regarding it maybe a imdb story about it (After watching this video i’m very curious about checking it out (It has a very impressive who-who’s working actors in it) it’s sad nobody tried to adapt The Crow: Flesh & Blood into a film (That is a very underrated graphic novel that would make a awesome live action film…
Why does it matter that they wrote them as teens, also how is it that u think they rip off the ideas from the first one too much but then turn around and say they should specifically have aged them up to be more like the original?
He did not say he should age them up to be more like the original. That is the definition of a Strawman argument. He said he should have aged them up because the actors are too old to play teenagers.
@Eric Fisher ya but there not one of them literally was a teenager and the other is the same age as every other actor who played teenagers around that time was (not saying that's not a bit weird) but the main character looks mid 20s at the very most so I just think it's kind of a knitpick like I said mostly because he says the movie is too unoriginal but then says make them the age of the characters from b4 either way seems like a really weird thing to complain about when the movie Had other legitimate flaws
When it comes to The Crow…I only Love the 1st and 2nd one. I didn’t care for the 3rd…Especially the 4th…And I Absolutely don’t care for the Remake either. In fact, they should’ve never remade it in the first place, trying to make it out to be a Mix of John Wick with some dark Fantasy shit.
The Crow Wicked Prayer is actually the best of the crow sequels. City of Angels and Salvation are at best mid movies, where as Wicked Prayer is full on so bad its good. Dennis Hopper and David Boreanaz are comedy gold and there is a character that is basically a call of duty death screen. Good times to be had.
I enjoyed The Crow, The Crow: City of Angel and The Crow Salvation. The Crow while it is still in the memories of so many people, will seem irreplaceable.
I couldn't take a single criticism of this movie being bland and generic seriously when it's narrated by a guy who's obviously reading his script for the first time. The movie is passionless? It's passionate masterpiece when compared to this narration
I really like the script, the idea of making the next Raven an innocent person robbed of the only thing left for him after his beloved was killed - his good name. Alex is publicly executed by the society, labelled as a monster, criminal - there's nothing left for him. And so he lived for 3 years, waiting for disgraceful death, with little hope for justice. Interesting: practically everyone present at his execution knows he's innocent. I also loved the aspect of Alex's interaction with Erin. To the dead we owe the truth, but the living often find hard to keep on living knowing it. The tragedy of the family who lost their loved ones has never been explored here in such depth. Alex is not only the Avenger and Executioner, he is a good friend. On the whole, I'd give Alex and Lauren more time in flashbacks, developed the line where the girl reveals her father's dirty secrets and may be make Alex be a but more bitter and emotional than he was.
The thing that I found that was cool was the twists it took the cop that would have come back if they went with the short story he was the father of 2 daughters he was the only good cop in that whole department he was forced into suicide by the main villain and the line Kristen dunst gives about the gun is one of the best scenes this really was the best of the series I think people didn’t know about the short story
I remember reading the City of Angels novel and the book kept calling Ash , "Ash Draven" consistently mixing up Ash and Eric through the whole book. I still liked it though
The Crow Salvation film wasn't too bad. Eric Mabius was a decent Crow. The car chase with the helicopters and the Rob Zombie music was my favorite scene.
My fav was him in Black Circle Boys… he’s so underrated as an actor.

They tried to rape her, but she shot the first guy in the leg using his own gun and that's why he was furious and stabbed her blindly multiple times.
This is actually my favorite crow movie..
I still have the original dvd
I am probably one of the few people who likes these movies. Even if they aren't the greatest
Crow salvation is awesome
I remeber seeing this on the rack at Hastings and thinking "They made another Crow movie? Hey Kirsten Dunst is on here cool". Checked it out and I dug it.
I liked how different it was and it was a good twist on "The innocent boyfriend convicted of her murder sentenced to death", "The girlfriend knew something about
dirty cops so they killed her and pin it on the boyfriend" and that the makeup was scarring from the electric death mask he had to wear. I liked it because it was
different, but had the spirit of the first two movies. Probably the quality and budget of the movie kind of hurt it as well since it resembled a "Straight to DVD"
quality to it.
The Best of the sequals
Who is Walter Coggins?
The thing about the Crow was Brandon Lee and the soundtrack
Plus it was pre Matrix and original
There was no need for sequels
It’s both ironic and sad that no matter how a sequel turns out for The Crow it’ll get blasted for various reasons (City of Angels has flaws but, there’s a lot of heart and soul within that sequel but, the studio botched it by interfering!) The Crow Stairway to Heaven should not work but, for a syndicated tv adaptation it’s actually really strong if you view it through a alternative time line point of view… The Crow Salvation was made strictly as a tax shelter i don’t remember seeing any Promotional material regarding it maybe a imdb story about it (After watching this video i’m very curious about checking it out (It has a very impressive who-who’s working actors in it) it’s sad nobody tried to adapt The Crow: Flesh & Blood into a film (That is a very underrated graphic novel that would make a awesome live action film…
quick fact: it released to selected theaters in october 1999, but was released direct to video straight after that in january 2000
The Crow series is an amazing series
You must have poor taste.
@@TJ-fe7rr How? Just because I like all the movies?
It’s a good sequel that is 2nd place
I remember watching this. I loved the movie and glad someone made this :)
I didn't even know this existed
Great video. I’d like to inquire as to who did the music that plays throughout the video. Thank you in advance.
You and the Canadian chick are the best of this channel. Thanks for the video
I only watched this because of my fav narrator 👍👍😁
When it comes to The Crow…I only Love the 1st and 2nd one. I didn’t care for the 3rd…Especially the 4th…And I Absolutely don’t care for the Remake either. In fact, they should’ve never remade it in the first place, trying to make it out to be a Mix of John Wick with some dark Fantasy shit.
love this film for best ost and soundtrack (nu metal one love) and alex design
Better question: WTF happened to the Crow 2024 ?
Wow the fact it has Walton Goggins and Kirsten Dunst in it kinda blows my mind.
I saw this when I was an edgy teen, and I loved it
How is there sooo many shitty crow sequels but we can’t get a single sequel to Karl Urban’s Dredd??!!
Great video as always joblo, are you guys going to do a What Happened to Creepshow 3 movie?
You got it!
The crow should have been one and done!!!
