Idk me and my boyfriend have survived some really rough times the past 5 years and have grown together and learned how to support each other. There have been times when one really needed the other and we've always been there for the other, even if we couldn't afford to shower each other with gifts. I guess he's also more sensitive than most men although he doesn't always know how to be empathetic but he learns from me, and I've learned to express my feelings from him. The strongest relationships are symbiotic like that
But for real it’s kind of a fun way to both communicate with your SO and bond. Imagine coming home and seeing an angry plushie where your grumpy spouse is wrapped up like a comfort burrito and then going back to things to make them feel better. I think half the enjoyment would be trying not to laugh at one another just to brighten their mood. No this wouldn’t be great for serious issues but for “I had a rough day but don’t want to talk about it just yet” kind of emotions.
Oh yes, he never saw who was under there. What if at the end, we heard "What's going on?" And Sam turned around and found the real Jess was standing behind him? Then, they looked back at the covers, and wondered who it was?
It would be way better than a husband who picks fights with you when you have a migraine and just want dark and quiet. But they yell, poke at you, accuse you of getting a migraine on purpose to ruin HIS day.

This was cute. I have one of those stuffies as well. I use it to entertain my 2 year old nephew. When on the happy side we say "Hi" when on the grumpy side we say "grr." He has one of his own now and does that with his too.

She may have trouble with emotional expression due to trauma or a neurological disorder so have some kind of signal to communicate with is nessary. I know a similar couple in real life and they're celebrating their 7th year together later this year. I'm sure the relationship will be fine.
