Truly helpful settings very well articulated with a very efficient delivery pace. The memory allocation setting info tops all of the others in my view. So much pain saved, and the annoying refreshing update status bar of the book trader is a reliever too. Great tutorial. Thank you so much! I appreciate it.
Glad it was helpful, all the best!
Thanks for this well made and informative video! I am struggling to get familiar with this platform and most the other tutorials I’ve seen were more useless than the excessive amount of settings that are customizable. This software seriously needs a makeover to match this century... you are Very helpful!
Glad it was helpful!
I just made the move from Questrade to IBKR and your video is helping me a great deal. Thank you for this - you're a real one!
My pleasure
I completely agree that there should be a separate colour for after hours on the charts. If there isn't a way to show it I hope IB addresses this in the future.
The platform works well, it just has a 1990s feel to it. Cheers!
@@VerrilloTrading would u prefer tws over das trader ? Speed wise ?
Thank you for all of your great content. I have been using TWS for years, and never tried the advanced stuff. You move fast, but if I watch multiple time, I pick up a lot of great info!!!! I do believe it will help me a great deal in my trading journey. Sorry you are experiencing content burnout, just know you helped at least one stubborn old man, to use the program to its ability. Thanks so much!!
Great to hear, thanks for the kind words!
do you want to do a monthly zoom call about trades? if yes I can share my contact info.
Thank you for putting this together - extremely useful content! Sorted out a few things that were really bugging me. Much appreciated.
You're very welcome!
This video is gold for anyone starting with IB TWS!
Kind words thanks
Appreciate the tutorial! Been using it only at execution level and missed a lot of opportunities because i wasn't fast enough. Thanks!
Pleasure to help.
What setting is this referring to?? Would love to have faster execution :)
@@VerrilloTrading is there a luld indicator on IB .. thanks
Just opened an account with IB, and had to watch this very helpful video again to set mine up, thanks mate.
Glad it helped!
hello from Hong Kong, just want to say thanks for the tutorial, really useful!
Pleasure to help.
That was really really really helpful...Lots of little things I would not have known...thank you for making the video!!!!
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks for the info. I was having problems with Trader Workstation locking up on my 32GB Memory system. It was set to 768MB by default. I upped it to 2048, no muss no fuss about the number, windows will handle it. Also, highlighting the high and low on the chart in green and red is fantastic! Thanks for the hints. There are so many options in TWS, it is difficult to navigate them all. Good info.
Glad it was helpful, cheers.
Thanks, this short video is one of the best about TWS, simple, short and to the point 👍
Many thanks! :)
Great video; love to see different layouts. Thanks for sharing the tip and keep up with these nice videos. This is a gem of a channel. Let’s get them winners 💪
Thank you very much!
Excellent content, thanks! This solved my problem of not being able to scroll in/out with the mouse wheel. Saved me so much time trialling various settings. And yeah, I wished the post/pre market regions had a different coloured background. Cheers.
Glad it helped!
I new in trading, and thanks a lot for your work and time. Greatly appreciated.
Welcome!
The best video so IB setup, Thanks Verrillo. Shoutout from Tdot.
Great! TWS, menu settings, thanks so much for the intro and your input and clear comments to it
Glad it helps!
This is a great video. TWS is quite extensive in terms of customization possibilities. It's useful to see what others are doing.
Thank you
Thanks for this! I downloaded TWS over a month ago but could never configure it to my satisfaction. Consequently I'm still trading on a bank-based platform charging huge commissions for frequent, small-value trades.
Happy to help. :)
Right from the first suggestion you made (setting the RAM used by TWS) this has improved my TWS experience. Thanks so much :-)
No problem 👍
Thank you so much for this video! It was very helpful. Any videos on IB are highly appreciated
Pleasure to help!
Hey nice video, been looking doing the same for some folks here but in french so you I'm happy to see some of your tought about that. Great work !
Thank you!
Awesome video. Thank you for showing your setup!
Nice job. You covered it from a traders point of view. Thanks.
Cheers
love you brother!
I actually commented on every video of yours
need the heart!!!
Cheers!
no heart xD
Thank you very much for the video! Great and very helpful for a new user to the TWS. Greetings from germany!
You are welcome!
Thanks for the video. You mentioned you found TWS slow. I was finding it really really laggy and slow, then I noticed an advanced option that lets you use the last stable version. It is now much much smoother. At the login screen to TWS click more options and then you have options for stable, latest (default) and beta
Ben Aspill Thanks! I noticed the stable version is missing some of the advanced features. Latest has been working fine for me.
It's clunky and convoluted and just plain ugly and will always be laggy and slow. Stable though which is its best attribute.
Thank you so much for this video as a beginner this really helped me get set up
Thanks!
Didn't know u were canadian until I watch this vedio .I think best canadian stock ibkr youtuber .
Kind words 🙏☺️
I wasn't know Loki was a Trader !!! Thanks for your videos by the way !!
Haha, happy to help!
Thanks from one Canadian to another. Just started trading S&P 500 Micro E-minis
Pleasure to help.
Thanks, just getting started with Trader Workstation, this is was helpful. Thanks
Great to hear!
Great video, thanks! Does anyone know if IB has a halt indicator, some kind of highlight on the Level 2 that tells you if the stock is close to being halted due to volatility?
Thanks for this amazing tutorial!
You're very welcome!
Thank you! Very important and detailed.
You're welcome!
Thank you, very helpful video!!
Glad it could help.
Most helpful 19:35sec... So many great features/functions now added to my trading screens that I probably would never have bothered looking into unless I came across this vid! So many thanks... (Still having issues adding green and red backgrounds to my ticker lists though....even after following a TWS Color Change vid - Aaarrgghh!) :-)
Glad it was helpful!
very thorough! thank you
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks alot for the valuable insight!
No worries!
Thanks for this video!
Absolutely Helpful - greetings from Germany
Thank you!
thank you for the video.. wao finally I change to the color in the time and sale instead of the tick dots.
Great 👍
@verrillo - Excellent video and update on key settings. I was able to follow along and make some changes. Keep up the good work!
Many thanks!
I kinda stumbled over a way to separate premarket and/or days etc without to much trouble. In any Charts Window go to ‘Edit’ and select ‘Vertical Line’ and drag it to wherever you want a division. From there you can drag it forward every new session. You can have more than one also. .
Awesome, just switched to IB and this really helped.
Glad it helped!
Thanks for the video, lots of good tips for new users like me.
Many thanks!
Many Thanks, it was very helpful 🙂
You're welcome!
Thank you for the tutorial. Much appreciated. Also can you please show more about setting up hot key and 1 click BUY/SELL for Scalpers (in and out quickly)?
Hi, I have many videos on this already! View my playlist of TWS tutorials.
Thank you for making this video. Chart settings for display and presets very useful. Would you know if it's possible to display the clock in charts?
Thank you for your insight !
Happy to help
Thanks for the video! IBKR is very professional tool and complex as well. Its easier and helpful to learn from somone who has done it and knows what works and waht doesn't. Thanks
Glad it was helpful!
Verrillo thanks for your videos on IBK plattform i am new with then and you are very helpful
Welcome!
this video was great, hugely appreciate it!
Glad it was helpful!
thanks so much this video is gold!
You're very welcome!
Thank you, very helpful !
Glad to hear that!
Thanks man. It's sad that IB themselves can't be bothered to update their outdated video tutorials, or to do one as good as yours. I mean, it's really got some good features. You'd think they'd do more to help users out!
I guess it's a way of filtering out the lazy people, haha. There are some great features, even if the platform looks like it's from 1990. Thanks for the kind words.
great video man. thank you
Glad it helped
VERY HELPFUL VIDEO. THANKS MATE!
Glad it helped
@@VerrilloTrading Very happy to see a fellow canadian on UA-cam in this niche. do you how to convert your funds from cad to usd in interactive brokers before trading US equities?
very helpfull thanks! and hola from Mexico! 😃
Happy to help!
Great vid, thanks bruh.
Thanks!
Great video 👍🏼.. IB takes a little getting used to I was charting on tos and executing on IB now I just do everything on IB
Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for making the video.
Glad it was helpful!
At the beginning I thought who is speaking but then ya ya sounds good and very clear thanks
Glad it helps!
Thanku so much for this video it is really helpful God bless you
Kind words !
Thanks for the video, and thanks for sharing the options which you find useful and the ones which do not matter so much to you. Made it a powerful 19min35sec! I did have two questions (i) do you know if there is a setting for a countdown timer for when a candle is about to start / end? (ii) is there a way to 'alt tab' between the different tabs you can set-up in TWS?
Pleasure to help. Timer, I don't believe so. Tradingview has that feature but TWS doesn't I think. I don't think you can alt tab either but try messing around. Sorry, couldn't help much there.
Great upload - very helpful
Thank you.
Great video, thank you !
Thanks.
Nice, going to apply this to my CedarFX account
Just found your channel. Will deffo be a subscriber
Much appreciated! :)
How do I setup my watchlist visuals with the exact same colours you have used? thanks (ticker white, $last, and change green/red/black etc)
Wow! Thanks for all these useful hints on TWS, You saved my life :) Could You please advise about paid data subscription from IB, what data I need for stock day and swing trading. Thanks in advance and keep up the good work!
Kind words! I'll be honest a lot of traders seek other data feeds but mostly for very short term trading. If you are holding positions long like many hours or days then the IB data should be fine I guess. Example you are a very quick scalper, you use IBKR as a broker but use a 3rd party platform to send orders. The reason is that in the 3rd party platform they normally provide a much higher quality datafeed and some advanced order management. Some examples would be Sierra chart or Das trader.
Newby here. Thanks for all the info.
Welcome!
excellent video it helps me much a big thank you
Glad it helped
Very informative... covering basics; plus, you're right -- IB should really change pre-market data to a different color resembling like TraderView.
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks man!
Cheers!
Nice vid! Thanks for sharing how you set up your TWS. Have you had any experience with using algos such as IBALGO (adaptive, TWAP, etc) as your order type to fill orders? I have always wondered whether they would give an edge but have no real experience myself. Can't find much on the web either. Would be interesting if there's a video on this. Just throwing out some ideas there
Thanks so much for the comment. Yes I use the Adaptive algo from time to time, it works great actually. I wouldn't recommend using it to fill a spread/complex position type. but for individual contracts it works good and quick. (depending on the urgency you set it). Generally the adaptive algo is recommended to accompany a market order. If you absolutely need to use a market order I'd put the adaptive algo as it will do a scan for best fill/rebate available on different exchanges. Plain old Limit order set to smart routing work great too and that's mainly what I use for intra day options trading.
Hey, thanks for the videos on TWS. When laying down horizontal trend lines, is there a way type in the level that you want the horizontal line displayed at? It seems like the only way to adjust is it via mouse drag.
I have never seen this in TWS so I doubt it is supported.
This was helpful. I trade futures on IB but they quoted are horrendous and I’m often trading in the dark. Still, this video will help me fix a couple irritants. Thanks again!
Glad it was helpful!
Oh man THANK YOU....would have had no idea I needed to actually manually increase memory allocation....sheesh.
I pinned a recent comment by somebody who seems to understand that even better. Cheers!
The memory options for think or swim , when you click on the settings icon on the log in box are as follows: There are two slots a left and a right. I think the left side is for bits as it is divisible by 32. But the right side appears to be ram. and the options are 768 , 1536, 3072 , 6144, 12288, 13107. It looks like for ram you continually double the first number, and that the first number for think or swim is the same number as interactive brokers www.interactivebrokers.com/en/software/tws/twsguide.htm#usersguidebook/priceriskanalytics/custommemory.htm?Highlight=memory%20allocation
Therefore; you would have to double, triple, quadruple, etc. the first memory setting given in the interactive broker platform. Cheers.
Hi, very detailed and useful video !!! I have a big setup with many screens, including 60 inch screen, when I extend the layout to fill my screen the main grid becomes too big, around 2 inches, so when my windows snaps to it, them changes in 2 inches intervals which is too big, any idea of how to reduce the grid space or to avoid windows snapping to it ?
For the preset size for buying options, do you know if its possible to have a preset $ amount instead of preset # of contracts? thanks!
This was great, thanks.
Kind words thanks
So good very helpful info. One thing I have been hunting for and can't find anywhere is how do you get your stop and take profit orders to show up on the chart?
Thanks, very useful video
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you for your informative video from land of Alberta
So nice of you
great information thank so much god bless you
Glad it was helpful!
Appreciate all the info you have provided. I have one question. Does TWS have the feature to show past filled orders on the chart? Such as a green up arrow for longs and red down arrow for shorts?
This is supported, it's in the chart parameters I believe.
Great video! Soft dozen of my questions. Appreciate...May I know is there a different between ( Smart or CFD ) if I would like to short the stock?
CFD is a derivative contract, not actually stock. If you want to really short the stock you just sell the shares. Smart is a routing system IB uses. Thanks.
HELPFUL. THANKS
Many thanks!
Thank you for your useful video Verrilo, DO you know how to remove the grid lines on the chart?
Change the color to the same as the background. Cheers.
Hey! Do you know which setting makes it to where your mouse tells you high open low close ect as you move over the bar? My high open low and close is just fixed to prices day before…
Normally it should display this info automatically when you use the chart crosshair tool and hover over a price bar.
thanks helpful. do you know how I can get the same ticker symbol on multiple layouts. Currently if I click on AAPL on mosaic it does not change automatically in my option layout. thanks
They need to be grouped to the same group color. Right click each window and make them part of a color group.
THANK YOU !!!!!!!
Cheers!
Thanks so much for sharing! Which key do you press when you adjust the size increment real quick (from the video 18:10) ?
The function is increase or decrease size, it's available to program to a hot key. It will increase by the size increment you select in the order presets. You can also make presets for individual tickers.
@@VerrilloTrading Hi Verrillo, thumbs up for your feedback. I have another question, for the time and sales, in the settings, upticks is green, down tick is red.
But only the first data has colour on it, the rest date stays in white font in my TWS.
What about the rest data, how can they have colours on them ?
This is great, thank you for sharing. By the way, is there a way to make your paper trading account mimic all of your settings and layout of the real account without having to make all customizations twice? It is so annoying to mirror everything.
On IB do you need to subscribe to real-time data to do anything pretty much?? because I'm not atm and paper trading is trash the numbers barley move and I can't even click bid and ask or use hotkeys
Hi, Can you tell me which market data should I subscribe to get level II ( Market Depth data) for all American stocks ( Nyse and Nasdaq)?
Thanks
Hey @VerilloTrading I have a burning question. I made some settings under TWS and I can't get my Portfolio Monitor to show Multiple option Legs (built through Strategy Builder) such as Iron Condor, Jade LIzards, Short Strangles to show up as a combination. I had Show Leg Trades Only Checked under Display Settings. I also have Group legs into complex positions under Display > Ticker Row and now I have removed it but they are still separate legs! The best I coudl do is group the Financial Instrument by Underlying which isn't exactly what I want. I had this Diagonal Spread showing properly under my demo account :/ Any thoughts?
