When To, Hiddleston was asked in an interview if Loki would get a love interest in his show, he said something along the lines of “before you can love someone else, you need to love yourself” and the fact that he was so sneakily telling the truth is so funny to me. Loki did kind learn to love himself, only it’s technically a variant of himself.
Well...both, sort of. He fell for an externalized version of himself first...and through her, learned to love his internalized self. You gotta take a step back and really know yourself...then you can know yourself. But that's the hardest step. Humans aren't really built for it. We're beasts, not people. We can never be people. We can playact at it, but that's all.
Reminds me of Paul Bettany talking about getting to act with someone he's always wanted to in WandaVision and he meant the scenes with Westview Vision and White Vision . . .
After I watched episode 5 for the first time I remember reading a comment that the reason Classic Loki was able to make such a perfect copy of Asgard was that he must have spent his whole life making recreations of the home that he missed. I love that idea.
Good job spotting the Thor variant in the jar. That was Throgg, a Thor/frog variant. His growl was actually recorded by Chris Hemsworth although I don't know if they used an already existing clip or if he came over from filming Love & Thunder just to record it for this show...
For the record -- my comment last week about hoping you include something here referred to the Marvel logo with all the quotes and I'm so glad you included it; the first time we watched this at our house we had to rewind and watch again, the idea of incorporating the Marvel fanfare into the actual plot was a cool trick. So glad you liked this show! Miss Minutes is creeeeepy. I haven't start season 2 yet so I'm hoping for more of that. I might watch tonight now that your reaction to the first season is up. And for reference, Classic Loki is called "Classic" Loki because he references a specific look in the comics, from Loki's first appearance in "Journey Into Mystery" issue 85 from October '62. Kid Loki is also a specific comic reference; the Kid version first appeared in "Thor" issue 612 in 2010. And now that you finished the season, my FAVORITE nerdy thing. Mobius -- both the comic version of him AND the Owen Wilson portrayal -- is visually based on a real Marvel editor named Mark Gruenwald, who was in charge of keeping Marvel continuity straight. So yes, the guy protecting the sacred timeline is based on the guy who protected Marvel's in-house timeline. Pretty clever.
"Wait, the alligator's a Loki too?" "Yep." "Ok I'm just going to accept that right now" I freaking love it when writers and creators just go balls to the walls crazy
Richard E. Grant portrayed the most comic-accurate Loki ever in Episode 5. Sure the costume was comic-accurate. But the performance fit what I always imagined, and his look is perfect. It was as if God breathed life into a Stan/Jack character. :-)
Other than his costume, he's also plausibly the continuation of the main timeline's Loki, that is, what he told us about himself fits, suggesting that the original MCU Loki might still be out there.
Sylvie is my favorite new character in the MCU in such a long time - I cannot get enough screen time with her. In the few milliseconds before I realized they wouldn't take Loki out like that, when he gets pruned, my immediate reaction was "okay, Loki's dead, Sylvie's the new Loki? bold choice - totally cool with it." I was on team WandaVision at this point, but Loki Season 2 sends it over the top. People dog on phases 4-5 but there's still a lot of cool stuff ahead of you!
WandaVision and both seasons of Loki is really as good as anything we got in Phase 1-3, if not better. The only issues I've had with Phase 4 have been the movies. Black Widow, Shang-Chi (as good as it was), Eternals, Dr. Strange 2 and Thor 4: None of them were very memorable in my opinion. However Falcon & The Winter Soldier, Hawkeye, WandaVision and Loki have all been more entertaining in many ways.
@@spextrekid9410 I think The Eternals would have been _significantly_ better served as a series. The characters were great, the story was pretty good, but they had far too much they needed to cram into the run-time of a movie. Imagine that story being drawn out over ten or twelve episodes, alternating between present day and flashback episodes.
Loved the costume, Kaiielle! And the intro was fun and imaginative. Great work! It's very understandable that you found the explanations from He Who Remains confusing. It's a lot to take in for sure, but you seemed to come through it fine. Until episode 6 dropped, there was so much speculation online regarding who was really in charge of the TVA. Some reactors wondered whether Jonathan Majors would make an appearance, considering the nature of the story and the plans that Marvel Studios' announced for his character when he joined (I'll say no more than that). But most considered it unlikely that he'd show up in a streaming TV show. When he did, there was lots of shock to go around. Speaking of other reactors, nearly all of them were outraged at the sight of Mobius getting 'pruned', and then Loki facing the same treatment later on. The mid-credits scene in episode 4 brought some relief regarding both of everyone's favourite characters, but really kept us hanging on tenterhooks for the next instalment. I agree with you that so many of the actors delivered great performances in this series, but Tom Hiddleston's is the standout in my book. He's brought so much humanity to Loki's character, and that continues in Season 2. My feeling at the last scene of episode 6 was basically, "Oh, shit." Like you, it seemed to me that a variant of He Who Remains had already gone back in time and taken over the TVA, making Loki's situation even more hopeless. I'll let you watch Season 2 to find out more, but I'll warn you: Just like the first season, nothing can prepare you.
I get how it could look very Dr Strange-ey but to me the citadel at the end of time made me think of that method of mending broken china/pottery by bonding it together with gold. I think it represents all the work He Who Remains has done in breaking and re-affixing realities to get the timelines where he needed them to be to avoid more of his variants from existing.
In case you're curious, the name of that pottery methodology is Kintsugi, and considering the meaning of it is essentially accepting imperfection by highlighting it and such, it's a fantastic design choice for the Citadel
WandaVision was, to me, a milestone in TV with the way they paid homage to the history of sitcom TV as the background for the story was excellent. Loki is right there behind it. Loki’s a great show with great writing, directing, and acting. Set design was on point. Everything was top notch. 🕰️
Loved the reaction as always. I would have never known the headpiece was upside down if you hadn't said anything! In other words, it still looked great!!⌚⌚
This was a lot of fun to watch. I appreciate that (even if you go three episodes at a time😅) it seems like you like to take time to read comments and rewatch episodes between videos to have a deeper understanding of what you’re watching. As a person with an atypical brain, I appreciate when someone wants to get it right lol
I would have watched all these episodes much closer together but unfortunately my world kinda fell apart in October which caused a big break from the channel. I appreciated having that bit of time in between, in the end though. ☺️
I grew up on the old marvel comics. Remember reading Thor, journey into mystery which was his first appearance. Seeing how Loki was written back then. Now going back and rereading those old comics, breaks my heart. Because now I know what Loki... Could be. And to quote Forrest Gump... That's all I have to say about that.
🕛 Yep. You nailed it. That's how we felt about the show. Don't beat yourself up about the costume... it looked great on you like that. I wouldn't have noticed if you hadn't said something about it.
⏰. I really enjoy your reactions. They are very close to my own original reactions. I would have worn something upside down too. Thanks for all the time and energy put into all of this. I love it!
@@MeanyINCare there any spoilers in season 2 Loki if you’ve already gotten to season 1? I don’t think season 2 has any spoilers, I guess the ending could be considered a spoiler but not really. Still release order is always the way to go
🕰️I wish I was allowed to say more, but as much as I enjoyed this season of Loki, Ive always preferred WandaVision. Also, don’t worry about the head piece. You’re a variant. It doesn’t have to be the exact same!😁
You GOTTA do season 2. Because its so good, and it raises the anti. Its the best thing the MCU has going at this point. Its just so good. Season 1 and 2 of Loki are just fantastic.
Since you asked, for me WandaVision will always be my top favorite. And actually my second favorite is Ms Marvel, third is Hawkeye, and finally coming in at fourth is Loki. There's lots of reasons for this. The reason WandaVision is so high is because I grew up on watching lots of old sitcoms so I LOVED how much care went into so perfectly emulating the eras and homages to the different historic shows. I even showed it to my parents who enjoyed it even though they hadn't watched any MCU since phase 2. And we watched the behind the scenes together as well. The reason Loki is so low is because even though I love time travel, I really really dislike apocalyptic/dystopian genres. The vibe and plots of many of the episodes of Loki was far more dystopian than I prefer. My favorite part of the show were the complex concepts and I really appreciated the premise.
Episode 5 is not only chock full of Marvel references, but it's also got of references to urban legends/Mandela effects The most distinct one is the ship that gets eaten. It's the U.S.S. Eldridge, which was supposedly part of the Philadelphia Experiment. According to the story, the U.S. was testing some new weapon on the ship and inadvertantly teleported it to another state and back, resulting in sailors who died, were fused into the metal, etc. Now of course the government says this didn't happen, but there were supposedly witnesses to it, both military and civilian in the two locations confirming where it was within minutes of each other So this show is basically suggesting that the experiment did happen and caused a nexus event, hence why the government denies that it happened
OMG, I forgot how unfinished it was. I need your reaction to season 2 like right now. Hope I'll need to wait a bit less than for it itself to come out.
I'm still sticking to release order for Marvel, so it'll be watched when I get to that point in the order! ☺️ Still have quite a few things before I get to it. So it'll be quite a few months.
I think my headspace was pretty much where yours was at this stage. I think I still rated Wandavision higher, but only just. Season 2, though, pushed it to the top. ⏰
I was new to the MCU when Loki had just come out so it was the first time I had to wait for something new to release afterwards. And waiting 2 years for season 2 was HELL. I had so many theories and none of them were even close to the truth lol Loki definitely is my favorite show in the mcu tho. Probably because Loki is also my absolute favorite characters (sorry Tony Stark, you’re only number 2). But WandaVision is very close, I loved how unique that show was. And Hawkeye joins them in the top three, which I would never have predicted before it came out. I’m excited for you to get to that.
I'm a Wandavision stan, I'm a sucker for well done character studies and that show is amazing at it. Loki season 1 and 2 get the second place easily from all the other shows.
I felt disappointed at the end of the season because I thought Loki would rejoin the primary timeline somehow, and I had no idea that there would be a Season 2 until that moment.
How you are with the MCU was me when I played the game Witcher 3 in 2020. The game had been out since 2015, and once I played it, I fell in love with it, the world, characters' stories, etc. I wanted to tell everyone about it but I was late to the party. A movie called John Dies at the End was similar, I love that movie but I saw it years after it came out, Lol. Very few people talk about it outside of FB groups and the odd comment section in horror communities
yes thde jar has a Thor varriant from when Loki turned him into a frog as a prank. the TVA took away his Mjolnir & sent him into the Void, jar & all. his nickname is Throg., Thor-Frog
In this series, Jonathan Majors plays a variant of a huge Marvel comics villain, but he was not the original plan for the big bad of the next MCU saga until the execs saw his performance in this show and his next MCU appearance, soon to come for you.
Though I know him primarily by one of his other names, "He Who Remains" and other variants of him is/are one of my fave Marvel villains in the comics (indeed, I can see a figure of him just a few feet away on my toyshelf right now ^_~) - 'twas most pleasing to have him arrive in the MCU. Also, being a fan of Richard E. Grant, I wasn't disappointed to have him show up either - he did make a fine Loki. This show just kept delivering. ^_^ 🕰
IMO: Loki, Shang Chi and Falcon + Winter Soldier are the only phase 4 projects that prove without a doubt that, regardless of scale, if you focus your story telling on character & relationship growth and build spectacle around that (Rather than vice versa), you will have prime Marvel material every time.
Hi KL I know you already committed to do it in release order. But if you want, like, REALLY want to watch season 2 right away, you can do it and it won't mess up the flow of the rest of the Multiverse saga. Because-sorry if this is a minor spoiler-it picked up IMMEDIATELY after that ending, like moments away. But probably this is just me talking though bcs I want a season 2 reaction as fast as possible 😅✌️ anyway, Loki S2 will blow your mind away
Blame Loki for the upside down headset that mischievous scamp. Loki is better imo and it's not really close. In Wanda they completely missed on a huge opportunity to call Wanda out on being worse than Thanos with imprisoning peoples minds and making them live out as a prisoner only for her amusement. I absolutely hated that they didn't call that out. How would anyone feel like they could not communicate like nightmares people have with no voice only this is real and you have a subconscious fully aware but no free will to do anything about it. With this series we get a good look at why free will is important to so many and what it means that it continues only further smearing Wanda vision and no one bringing that up. That said it's like 4th in line with daredevil what if and maybe a few others i can't think of above WandaVision in terms of a good Marvel show. Thanos was as he said, merciful in dusting people out of existence, gone in a snap. Loki not only has the time travel stuff but we get so much more range and we see his arc changing from wanting a throne to now just wanting Sylvie to be ok. From the beginning this is why i adore villains than self righteous heroes. Villains are misunderstood and the underdog, for some reason they always have to lose which makes me want to see them succeed even more. Like Loki said, no one is ever truly good or evil, there's shades of grey everywhere⏲
FYI: The episode name "Journey Into Mystery" was a nod to the anthology comic book series that both Thor and Loki first debuted in. Back in those days, Stan Lee would introduce different heroes into established sci-fi/mystery comic books.. Spiderman debuted in Amazing Fantasy, Iron Man debuted in Tales of Suspense, etc. Then if they were popular they'd get their own series.
If you're wanting to avoid Loki season 2 being spoiled between now and the time you get to it in the release order, it would be a major accomplishment if you manage to pull it off. ..and a major disappointment if you fail. Wish you the best of luck.
My favorite? ... Daredevil ,no doubt ; but from the Disney + productions ,yeah ,Loki it's good ,a lot to like in this series (with flaws ,obviously ,but nothing hard -not like Ms.Marvel or She-Hulk ,ugh-) ... did you see already Daredevil? ,it's important you respond this ,please. ⌛

In case someone hasn’t said it before, “classic” Loki is how the character looked in the comics when he debuted.
The variant in the jar is Frog Thor. AKA Brave Throg or Puddlegulp.

@@kaiielle yeah, I know, that's why it's sad. Kinda also envy you tho, wish I could watch it for the first time again.
I feel like the best episode of every Marvel show is the penultimate episode.
Smashing reaction. Bloody brilliant indeed. Between the 2 shows… WandaVision is the goat!
Couldn’t disagree any more
No need to compare. They were both amazing shows that pushed the boundaries and took risks with how Marvel tells stories.
one of my favorite season finale
I can’t wait to watch your season two reactions. ⏱️
I think my headspace was pretty much where yours was at this stage. I think I still rated Wandavision higher, but only just. Season 2, though, pushed it to the top. ⏰
40:22 HOW did you have absolutely NO reation to Ms. Minutes jumpscare?? I almost threw my phone away when I first watched it 😂
I'm so weird with jumpscares. Sometimes they get me good and other times they don't phase me.
I was new to the MCU when Loki had just come out so it was the first time I had to wait for something new to release afterwards. And waiting 2 years for season 2 was HELL. I had so many theories and none of them were even close to the truth lol
Loki definitely is my favorite show in the mcu tho. Probably because Loki is also my absolute favorite characters (sorry Tony Stark, you’re only number 2). But WandaVision is very close, I loved how unique that show was. And Hawkeye joins them in the top three, which I would never have predicted before it came out. I’m excited for you to get to that.
You looked great!
I'm a Wandavision stan, I'm a sucker for well done character studies and that show is amazing at it.
Loki season 1 and 2 get the second place easily from all the other shows.
I felt disappointed at the end of the season because I thought Loki would rejoin the primary timeline somehow, and I had no idea that there would be a Season 2 until that moment.
that would have been stupid. Why would he be allowed in the primary timeline when he is dead there?
How you are with the MCU was me when I played the game Witcher 3 in 2020. The game had been out since 2015, and once I played it, I fell in love with it, the world, characters' stories, etc. I wanted to tell everyone about it but I was late to the party. A movie called John Dies at the End was similar, I love that movie but I saw it years after it came out, Lol. Very few people talk about it outside of FB groups and the odd comment section in horror communities
couldn't focus on kaiielle's reaction. can't stop looking at her upsidedown headpiece. but, noice though. 😀👌⏰hahaha
Make sure to watch my intro if you haven't 🤣
In case nobody answered your question about the Journey Into Mystery episode that was the comic Thor first appeared in.
yes thde jar has a Thor varriant from when Loki turned him into a frog as a prank. the TVA took away his Mjolnir & sent him into the Void, jar & all. his nickname is Throg., Thor-Frog
That was Thor variant as a frog aka Throg.
I love the Wanda look, I also love that your hair also looks like Sylvie's.
In this series, Jonathan Majors plays a variant of a huge Marvel comics villain, but he was not the original plan for the big bad of the next MCU saga until the execs saw his performance in this show and his next MCU appearance, soon to come for you.
Loved this show and am loving your reactions :))
Edit: ooooo just realised What If? is next!!!
Black Widow is next.
@@wyterabitt2149 that’ll still be cool :)
Don't forget about Moon Knight. For me Loki and MK are the best Marvel shows and Loki (both seasons) is the very top of the whole MCU.
Good news for you, season 2 is already out and done!
Season 2 is even MUCH better
Hi KL I know you already committed to do it in release order. But if you want, like, REALLY want to watch season 2 right away, you can do it and it won't mess up the flow of the rest of the Multiverse saga. Because-sorry if this is a minor spoiler-it picked up IMMEDIATELY after that ending, like moments away. But probably this is just me talking though bcs I want a season 2 reaction as fast as possible 😅✌️ anyway, Loki S2 will blow your mind away
Has anyone mentioned that Chris Hemsworth voiced the frog?
51:37 hard agree. season 2 takes him even further.
The plan has been for Kang the Conqueror to be the next big bad of the MCU. He Who Remains is a Kang variant. 🕛
so yeah the thor variant in the jar is THROG a frog thor...
Maybe you’re just stressed out and that’s why your reality altering chaos magic put the headpiece on upside down.😮😮😮
Hope you watch season 2 too! It’s great
Blame Loki for the upside down headset that mischievous scamp. That said it's like 4th in line with daredevil what if and maybe a few others i can't think of above
WandaVision in terms of a good Marvel show.
They never did catch that rhino
are you wearing scarletts tiara upside down?
This question tells me you blew past the intro of the video. 😏
Did you know that your headpiece is on upside-down? :-)
Watch the intro... 👀
We all make mistakes, so don’t worry too much about it. Besides, after the month you had, you’re entitled to a free pass for a pretty simple accident.
RIP HWR
Are you going to be watching season two next
I talked about what's next in the video. 😏
@kaiielle I know I should have finished the whole video before I started commenting. When I realized it I gave myself a mental slap on the head.
LOL it's okay.
I think you should give the animated spider-verse movies a try
They're coming! 2024
Men , me one, wishes I had a good memorable voice...
🕰
Yup, solvie made a vry vry bad decision, so many variants of bad kangs, but kang(he who remain) is the only one is good and telling the Truth
Sigh, she really could just watch season 2. There are NO spoilers.
Daredevil is being watched fairly soon over on my Patreon. I am making my way through the non-MCU Marvel shows there.
Season 2 has concluded and already I can't wait for the 3rd season!
