    As a high schooler with a love for acting, I want more than anything to attend your drama program. I just want to know about scholarships and specific things that you look for in your students.

    This may sound extremely stupid, I absolutely love the craft of acting. I don't so much enjoy Shakespeare.

    • @jamesmercer8639
      @jamesmercer8639 7 років тому +32

      It's not stupid to say that. LOL Shakespeare can seem really boring or like Klingon at first, but maaaaaaaaan when you start to dissect the text! Woo! There are so many wonderful things as far as imagery or parallels to today. Through his plays you can see how forward thinking he was in exposing society's views, especially of Black people, Jews, and women. At first his stuff seems extremely prejudice, but you can see what's written between the lines. And you get to play with language in a way that you never are allotted in your everyday life. Give it another chance. It's great stuff.

    I don’t like shakesphere right now but I’m sure as I get older and closer to college, I’ll start to understand and enjoy it more.

    what kinda of GPA does a student need to have in order to be accepted?? is this a talent-audition based school only, or does academics play a role in it?

    • @JuilliardSchool
      @JuilliardSchool  6 років тому +3

      Thanks for your question. Juilliard does not look for a certain GPA or academic course requirements, but the Drama Division does look at coursework to make sure that a potential student can handle college-level coursework. You can learn more about Drama application requirements on our website: www.juilliard.edu/arm/drama/college/acting/bachelor-fine-arts.

    • @JuilliardSchool
      @JuilliardSchool  6 років тому +2

      Thanks for the question. Every person who applies for Juilliard Drama can come for an audition. The program only takes about 18 people each year, so the acceptance rate is low. But if you want to prepare your materials and try, you never know what might happen! Our application for the 2019-20 school year goes live on September 1.

    are students allowed to work on films during school year as credits or internship?

    • @JuilliardSchool
      @JuilliardSchool  5 років тому +3

      Thank you for watching! The drama schedule is very busy, with classes starting in the morning and rehearsals going through the evening hours. This doesn't leave a lot of additional time for internships during the school year. You can learn more about the drama schedule on our website: www.juilliard.edu/drama or contact our admissions team and they can give you more details: dramaadmissions@juilliard.edu.

    What if I'm 20 years old I definitely know now that I will be an actor, but I'm in law school and think of Juilliard as a possibility, what do you guys think? Do you have any piece of advice for me?

    • @kiks399
      @kiks399 8 років тому +1

      +naveen coolstar thank you. 😂

    • @jamesmercer8639

      So there is a woman graduating this year who was a lawyer for 10 years. You have to go where your heart is. It may seem logical in our society to just go to law school. But we know that going to law school doesn't guarantee you a job unless you went to Harvard, Stanford, or something like it, any more than Juilliard will guarantee that you'll be this top actor. What you need to ask is, "What does my soul need?" I took the long journey of accepting that I needed to be an artist, and a piece of me regrets that. If you want to be an actor and need to be an actor, go for it, even if it's not at Juilliard. Be true to yourself and not expectations of others.

    this is my absolute dream, just like everyone else in these comments, but I'm not the hottest dancer and also i'm somewhat freakishly tall for a girl in theatre. will this effect my chances of getting in, ignoring every other variable??

    • @JuilliardSchool
      @JuilliardSchool  6 років тому +6

      Your height and dancing ability shouldn't impact your chances of getting in! Mary Chieffo, Gabriel Ebert, and Adam Driver are all exceptionally tall recent drama alums...just to name a few.

    this is my dream. but can u audition for movie roles while studying here?

    • @anthonydecicco6546
      @anthonydecicco6546 3 роки тому +2

      Actually this morning I did a Juilliard zoom call and someone had asked that question. The admissions director told us that you would be allowed to audition for roles outside of the school however that would make you choose between your spot in the conservatory or the role you may have gotten. The curriculum takes up pretty much all of your time so they do not recommend auditioning off-campus. And if I were you and got a spot at Juilliard, I'd never let it go for anything.
