Jumboization - Modifying Ships To Make Them Even Bigger [4K] | Heavy Lift | Spark
Вставка
- Опубліковано 24 лют 2022
- An in-depth look at the complex heavy lift process of taking an old ship, cutting it in half, and stretching it‚ an operation called Jumboization, increasingly common as the demand in the lucrative cruise industry for bigger ships that can haul more and more passengers.
-
This series tells the story of how huge objects move. If Archimedes said "Give me a lever and I will move the world", today the answer is usually wheels and hydraulics. Lifting and moving massive machinery or structures is the specialty of a handful of companies and the equipment they use is often tailor made for the job, be they cranes, trailers, flatbeds, barges, and even ship carriers.
We draw on the joint experience, to present a whole new ongoing series of documentaries on the men and machines that move huge things. Heavy Lift tells the story of the engineers and mechanics behind some of the largest lifting and moving equipment in the world, without which some of the most impressive works of human construction simply would not work.

With all of that glitz and glamour I'm just wondering how many life boats it holds and how many people to a life boat?
Good question.
Legally it has to have enough to carry no less than 50% of the passenger and crew capacity from one side of the ship. So effectively the minimum requirement is both sides together is enough to evacuate the entire ship. As regards capacity, It can vary. Small life rafts may only hold 4 people. Large boats may hold upwards of 70 people
Spark should date their docs. It'd be nice to know the time's economy.
2:07 I recognize that guy, he's also in the documentary on the venice flood barriers construction
I have been on a stretched ship before and after its stretching. Big difference!!
What was the difference?
Would people buy a car that was Cut and Shut dont think so though many were at that Game .
This is state of the art since more than 30 years
Dudes a party pooper
Private yachts also have this done but it can reduce the value of the yachts after the stretch.
I have sailed repeatedly on this company's ships. They are beautiful masterpieces of elegance and safety.
no need for racist statements...
the narrator, "Palermo,Sicily"...sleek
Say what you want but these ships definitely look top heavy. It's all about the mighty dollar. Pretty interesting though.
Their Still GIANT INCUBATORS 😂
I've been going through the Spark videos since I found them about 3 weeks ago and have a question for the Channel.... are you aware of the amount of Betting Adverts that are attached to your videos? I personally don't gamble and have personalised ad's enabled and hardly see any adverts for betting on any of the other youtube videos I watch, but all Spark videos I have watched so far (over 75 and counting) only seem to advertise Gambling and Betting companies.... I don't know if this is something you have planned but it makes me very reluctant to recommend them to anyone with children.... just wanted to let you know this and see if it was intentional (ps. Love this channels content, thanks for uploading them)
How much is the shipyard owner paying to the Palermo mafia?
greetings from BARODA INDIA LOVE THIS CHANNEL awesome job of stretching the ship
No, I haven't ever wondered, let's hope it's interesting.
How much is “just a few mm”?
You have to be a fool to say it doesn't matter... REAL ENGINEER...
I clicked for "Jumboization" somebody needs a raise for that one
Weld 12 cruise ships together. 4 across 3 deep.
The Queen Elizabeth 2 is SO big if it were a few inches taller it would hit the Verrazano narrows bridge when entering New York's harbor. Therefore it is unlikely a ship that is much larger will be made.
If I had the money to put where my mouth is I would dear them to do this the largest cruise ship
I wonder why the story teller speaks a lot of the word "Liner" when this cruise ships doesn't even travel in TransAtlantic way.
While this is very interesting, the constant repetition of commentary and visuals is infuriating.
Thought the same thing about half way through. Reminds me of how cable TV shows come back from break and repeat the same crap for people just tuning in lol
I would be old crew ships into apartments dry dock them to be epic that’s what I would do I would move in Florida call the cruise ship Florida Florida
Why not just make the ships so big you can get from NYC to SouthHampdon UK, just by walking from the stern to the bow?
I'm sure that day will come.
You wouldn’t find me DEAD on a cruise ship. People really love to flock don’t they?
I used to say the same thing... I hate crowds, but I've been on 9 cruises now & some of my best vacations & memories have been on those trips. I enjoy flying to places too, but cruising is its own experience. There's just something about being in a full blown resort, where everything from, bars, clubs, top notch dining, spas, theater, pools etc, that is also your transportation on a beautiful ocean to multiple destinations that is unique. Everything is in walking distance at any time & provides a great experience.Ya it can feel crowded sometimes, but you wouldn't want to go to an empty bar, club, theater, or casino, would you? I have spent 5 times as much flying to remote places and didn't see as much, do as much or eat as well. It's a great bang for your buck and these ships are designed to spread everyone out in all the venues so that one spot isn't typically too over crowded. I went on an all exclusive cruise for 14 days to 5 different countries & 9 destinations in Central and South America for less than 4k for two people. You can't beat that.
?
👍
I have no time for cruise ships, get rid of them all.
From the channel that brought you the Drug busting...' bullshit!
Those monstrous cruise ships are like a chicken farm. Resembling feeding ranges and sewage processing. Anybody wanting standing in long lines multiple times and be treated as a chicken by a staff which is stressed to squeeze one more smile for you? Smiles have become industrialized!

Tons of lengty boring interviews, too much clips about sailing ships. And how many times they have to tell about the wheels moving those ship parts?? Only 1% actual lenghtening process.
This period making a good profitable investment should be in every wise individuals list 🔴🔴
This season has been really great I’ve been making massive returns on my binary investment all thanks to my expert Nick Maverick
I also trade with Nick Maverick, his trade strategies helped me earn $18,500 after a successful investment of $2,500
Having a strategy that ensures profit is the best you can do and that's not for novice, lost over $12k trading on my own
You can’t compare Nick Maverick strategies with others, his so accurate and he helped me grow my portfolio above $30k
Why don't you invest in this new Titanic.
