Any chance that you know why trying to run something intensive just automatically causes it, or something else, to be closed down completely? No chance to wait or force quit. It just closes. Nothing was having trouble running, but trying to run or open something would cause things to be closed. Is there a setting to prevent intensive programs from closing?
@average Linux user this tutorial really help me. Took an Inspiron 3521 and installed pop os 22.04 and did this step and is running smooth. Next thing I’ll swap the Hdd to an ssd and use the Hdd has a second hard drive and all for less than a $100. I really appreciate it
I have been exclusively daily driving Pop_OS for months now, and to be honest it is exceptional in how simple out of box experience it has... even dare I say... lacking. Though that would mostly be true for post 22.04 where the new gnome 42 is used, since gnome 3x is way too simple it just feels kinda hard to navigate at first. Though what gnome 3x has over 4x is support for extensions. You can heavily customize it with relatively low performance hit or crashing, while I've had way too much trouble with extensions on pop 22.04, to the point of them crashing my whole system, not even able to get a second tty showing. Though what 22.04 has from previous versions is that the GUI has a good balance between enough options/customizations to simplicity. Forgot to mention I am not a huge power user, my peak work is a word document or the browser, so for me I can live with not having stuff customized just because it is possible. As for other things for me it just works. I've managed to setup wine specifically for an app that I just cannot change to linux alternative, and it works pretty darn well. I'm no comp gamer so most if not all my games work almost flawlessly through proton. Yea, I've had trouble here and there but nothing that wasn't easily fixable. To be honest, I have tested a few linux distros, and the most stable for me was Pop_OS. I seriously couldn't recommend this distro more for daily use, especially for those who are beginners to linux and want a distro to just hop on and get work done. Speaking as noobie myself
Installed Firewall, ClamAV, Xanmod V4 kernel, MESA Kisak drivers, Timeshift, etc.. I tinkered the system a lot, but it's working as stable as a rock and as fast as a rocket. Very easy to manage.
Never use fractional scaling on laptops. It will take a big hit on the battery - around 25-30%. If you need something between 100% and 200% screen resolution fx with a 3k laptop screen, use instead Tweaks -> Fonts to scale the text. This will almost be like fractional scaling the screen but it will not hit the battery.
Although GNOME Shell integration extension is running, native host connector is not detected. Refer documentation for instructions about installing connector.
any ideas, cant get my thinlinc to work on my latest pop installation getting "no executable profiles could be found on this system" have checked their page but nothing works :/
I have a razer blade advanced 2080, I have the battery uninstalled due to the fact that i think it is bloated. But I do not have the battery icon so I cannot switch to hybrid graphics. Is there something I can do to force the battery to show up?
On Pop OS! 22.04 I had to use "sudo apt install ttf-mscorefonts-installer" and then "sudo apt --fix-broken install" to fix a dependency issue in order to install Microsoft fonts.
In the section on firmware update I'm a little confused. I'm running an asus n550jk laptop with an ssd. I was surprised to see that it suggests a firmware update and looking on the information page from System 76 it seems this is ONLY for their systems. Should I update or not? This is not my main computer but I do like to distro hop a bit on it. Great videos by the way.
Oh, I don't have a recovery partition, because I made a custom install. (Seems though that there's tutorials online on how to install it afterwards. Didn't try any yet though.)
Running Pop Os for about a week on a older medion erazer. I really like it so so far but I cannot get the wifi card to work and as I am new to Linux I dont know how to add the driver. I have followed many tutorials but Its all not worked so far. I am so far tethering my phone to get any downloads.
On windows I've been using realtek as my audio driver. However the only reason why I haven't switched to pop os yet is because I were unable to connect two headphones. I have one main headphone connected to the rear port and one at the front. Which my wife uses when we watch or listen to something. Does anyone know of a way to get that to work?
How do you change screen size to a a unique one, my screen is just short than 1280 by 720, so the sides go beyond the screen, 4:3 fits but it's too few pixels with the default options and make it's stretch, lowering quality
Thanks for the useful tricks. Can you please also advise how to set switching between different keyboard layouts (languages) with Alt+Shift combination like in Windows or Mint?

Got one thing to say tho, installing Linux and then Chrome is kinda reduntant, assuming you want security and don't wanna be tracked, kinda goofy to install the one browser by the one company that is known for taking people's data and such. Otherwise, good video.
Nice to try and as a stand-alone OS. However, dual booting is difficult and the System76 installation instruction do not even address this method. Hence, most Windows users will avoid this OS.
There is a System76 support article for dual booting with Windows on a system that already has Pop, and an article for dual booting starting from Windows.

It is generally recommended to update your firmware. Note that it is different than doing a noticeably scary flash to the BIOS.

Downloading "Gnome Tweaks" and using it solve the problem (POP 22.04).
run command "setxkbmap (option)" here. for example if youre french, run "setxkbmap fr" and your keyboard layout will be changed to french.
Google chrome is not available on the POP shop anymore. Is there another way to install it?

There is. Run this command in a terminal: gsettings set org.gnome.shell had-bluetooth-devices-setup true
Log out and log in.
