My dog is my guru. All I teach him is how to sit, walk on the side of the road, and not jump up on people. He teaches me how to joyfully be, how to walk with confidence, how to have curiosity for everything, how to have love and empathy for all, how to live in a community/a pack. We are still scratching the surface of what the special dogs can be for humans.

My dog for over 10 years died in July. She was truly a blessing in my life. We communicated through our eyes.
We both used to just sit and watch. Sit at the front door, sit at the beach, sit at the park, sit everywhere and just watch.
I always thought she taught me this unexplained stillness, I’ve come to the realisation that we taught each other. She was truly my soul mate for all those years and felt immense pain when she left this world.
Dogs can pull you to who you truly are just by observing them.

I retired 5 years ago to be with him full time after burying another. He was the 14th captivator of my heart that I have buried in my 57 years. @Herosbuggarden is his channel I made. But they were god’s gift to me, to get me out of bed and keep me going, meeting people at dog park, socializing. They are the most pure joy and love I’ve ever experienced. Not just dogs though, all animals including farm animals have the same emotional capacity to experience joy and happiness given the chance, we are all connected as one consciousness. Mores the pity that we treat billions of them so horribly in factory farms and slaughterhouses. Theres a lot of hypocrisy in the spiritual community. There is not much difference between a pig and and a dog, in fact pigs can have the same intelligence as a 7 year old child

My dog is my rock. The dog chose Me when it was 8 weeks old and it has been with Me for 9 years now. I have no words that truly can describe our close and unbreakable bond of love. It has only grown stronger year by year. I owe this dog everything. We live together alone and we are together 24-7 and it has always been like that. The dog has taught what love is and it has opened my heart which no person have been able to do. The dog has taught me how to be in the present and not so much in the past or future.
Im 55 and have been lonely almost all my life. The dog has this ability to not make Me feel that Im not completely alone in this world. The dog is My soul friend and I love this dog more than myself and every human being I have ever met. I thank God every day that he created this dog and I have the luxury of borrowing it. But at the moment Im not doing that great because the dog may have cancer and is going to be tested first in 2024. Practically My entire family have been wiped out due to cancer. My little brother and Me are the last ones and we have no children ourselves. I can not se my self without this dog and I dont know what to do. I feel so low and would gladly give My right arm if that could save its life if it would come to this. Will somebody be so kind and pray for My dog. Love from Denmark ❤

A man and his dog were walking by the side of the road and were hit and killed by a car. They found themselves walking an unknown road somewhere together and wondered where they were. They came upon an incredible city of gold with pearl gates and shining gold streets. The man asked an old man at the gate what the place was. The old man replied "This is Heaven" The man asked "can come in? " After looking at his book the old man replied " Yes" The man then looked down at his dog and said "what about my dog ?" The old man said " There are no dogs in heaven" so the man and his dog walked away not knowing what to do.
Further down the road they came upon a great and beautiful garden and entrance to another grand city with a man and woman tending to the plants in front. The man asked "what is this place" The woman smiled and said " This is Heaven" The man inquired" may I come in ? " The woman replied "Yes you may" Then the man asked defensively "and my dog ? " The woman replied " Of course dear " The man was over joyed and said to the couple do you know there is a place down the road that is saying it is heaven as well ? The man tending the flowers replied "Yes that is just a place to test souls that would give away a precious friend for a little gold "

One of my rescued Labradors, Bella, had spent the first 6 years of her life as a breeding female on a puppy farm. (or Puppy mill as they are known in the USA) her pen was so small that she was not able to turn her body around. The vet estimated that she had given birth to over one hundred pups, by the time that she was six years of age. She was physically and psychologically very traumatized. Her rehabilitation took approximately two and a half years. Progress really began after she could connect with nature and go swimming. Also meeting with and being around other confident and balanced dogs. One of her favorite ways to release tension was through rolling on her back and punching the air with all four paws. She was an incredible soul and lived to be almost sixteen. We can learn so much from animals and nature

It's not about having feelings. Of course dogs have feelings. But they have no conceptual thought and no self consciousness. Hence the concept of self esteem doesn't apply. That doesn't mean they can't feel sad, or in pain or can have preferences. None of this needs to reference a self like humans do.

@@snakedogman There is a great deal of evidence that animals have self-awareness. However, at the same time there is a lack of consensus on the definition of the term “self-awareness”.
Natalie Evans has recently published Animal Ethics and the Autonomous Animal Self, a book that challenges the notion that only humans are capable of agency, autonomy and self-awareness.
Simply put, people including Eckhart don't know enough to declare that dogs don't have a form of self consciousness or awareness to some degree.

I've had a dog that asked me to sit. Wherever i decided was the turning point on our walks in nature, i used to sit down on a tree stubb or a stone, smoke a cigarette, give out some goodies and just be for a while. When this very special dog (i wish Eckhardt could have met him) got older and got trouble walking, he asked me to go and sit down wherever he felt he wanted to turn homeward. It was easy to obey him.
From what i just heard, Marley might have been one of those dogs who are a step ahead in developing an ego. He even had an opinion on me. He gave me the greatest compliment i've ever had as he transmitted his sincere judgement that for being a human, i could be rather smart sometimes.

I saw comments from vegeterian or vegan people. We love animals yet we still eat them : yes, and this only shows that we don't eat them because of a lack of love but because we need to. It is our biology. We are not cows or some other ruminants. The only difference between us and most of the animals is that our minds have evolved in such a way that we make up stories of guilt and shame and value judgments about it. However we can try and be mindful of how our meat is produced and how animals are treated, even though it can be hard to find trustworthy sources of information. I feel self-righteousness is not the way to go here.

One syllable utterances are not language. Woofs, growls, etc are like babies crying or cooing… indicating needs or expressing emotions, they are not like “tree”… a concept or label for a thing. Language is a complex communication system spoken and written forms laid over reality so we can function. “Pass me the milk”. It’s not possible for dogs to think because they do not have conceptual language. Life is actually much easier and more peaceful when you aren’t thinking and you can function beautifully without it.

😂 That is the funniest comment on here. I have two Sheepadoodles.. I get it. Haha!!
In all seriousness though, ego is simply identifying with a narrative in your mind of who you think you are… it’s language in the mind. Dogs don’t have language, so they are simply an aware presence, which is what we are, but most people identify with the movement of thoughts in their mind for their sense of self. It’s not actually there. So dogs live in reality and we mostly live in an illusory existence… hence all of our species difficulties.

Disagree with you hundred times over on this one, Eckhart. Dogs do have opinions of you and people. They're an excellent judge of character. Your dog loves most people, then someone comes around you and they immediately don't like them? They're picking up on their character, their energy, etc... also dogs do have concepts of themselves, seen through self esteem. Tell a dog he's a bad dog all the time, you will have a dog with low self esteem. Tell that same dog he's perfect or hes a good dog all the time, you'll have a dog with high self esteem. It's a self concept, although not egoic. They are Love, at their deepest core of their being, just like us, however they don't have the egos that their human companions are attempting or in the process of transcending.❤

You are confusing learned behaviour and instincts with self consciousness. You can perfectly well have all those things you describe, without having any ability for conceptual thinking or self consciousness.
A learned or instinctual like or dislike reaction is absolutely not the same as an opinion.

    • @ddasher1113
      @ddasher1113 9 місяців тому +1

@@snakedogman lets look at your statement "a learned... Like or dislike.. is absolutely not the same as an opinion."
Now, lets look at the definition of opinion...
      1. A belief or conclusion held with confidence
      2. A judgment based on special knowledge
      3. A judgment or estimation of the merit of a person or thing.
So, Yes. A learned like or dislike IS ABSOLUTELY THE SAME AS AN OPINION.
And who is forming such judgements? Their self. A dog has a self. A horse has a self. They just lack ego. As we define it.
But perhaps some of them do... You ever see the dog that wants to scrap with every other dog at the dog park, or the tiny ankle biter that thinks it's the bigger than a husky? Is that ego? I don't know, I don't have that answer, but won't even get into that...

Most people can understand freedom of expression but where most of the problems start is to express without judgement. This means regardless if your expressing yourself by donating to the poor or raising your voice because something is bothering you are both a form of expression and both are to be accepted without any judgement that any form of expression is right or wrong.

" It is something to be pondered over. Why should a dog not have a buddha-nature? If every living being has buddha-nature, why should dogs be such exceptional beings? Just because in your minds the very word ‘dog’ is condemned, you cannot think that a dog can have a buddha-nature - “My God, then what is the point of having a buddha-nature? Even a dog can have it. It is not worth bothering! Years of meditation, long pilgrimages, and finally what you attain is just a dog’s nature.” Naturally those who don’t understand have immediately said no - and Ta Hui agrees with those people who say no.
But in fact a dog is just a god spelt wrongly. I for one am absolutely ready to say yes, a dog has as much potential to be a buddha as Gautam Buddha himself. There is no question why poor dogs should be left out, when all beings - donkeys and monkeys and even Yankees - all are included. The dog is a poor animal, innocent. There is nothing wrong in the dog. Perhaps he has to travel a long way to become a buddha, but it is only a question of time. Some day a dog is also going to become enlightened. In some birth, somewhere in the future…"
"Imperfection is a fundamental law of life. Man is the only animal who is imperfect.
Dogs are not imperfect, each and every dog is a perfect dog. Cats are not imperfect, trees are not imperfect, rocks are not imperfect. In this whole vast existence man is the only animal who is imperfect. And that is where his glory is - because in imperfection there is growth, in imperfection there is opening, there is evolution. When you are perfect there is nowhere to go. Perfection will be suicide for humanity.
Just think, what will you do when you are perfect? In the first place it cannot happen. In the second place, IF it happens, what will you do then? The perfectionist will be at a loss, utterly at a loss - because he knows only one way of life, and that is to go on improving. Now there is no more to improve he will commit suicide.
Man's glory is that he is the only animal who grows. Out of his imperfection man has become a tremendous power. The child of man is the most helpless child, and out of that helplessness great things have happened. Man is born with very weak instincts. That's why he becomes intelligent - he has to become intelligent, he has to substitute his weaker instincts with a stronger intel-ligence.
A dog need not do anything, a dog is perfect; he lives through his instincts he never allows his in-telligence to grow. What is the point? The instincts are doing far better, more perfectly, than intelligence will ever be able to do.
Intelligence is there because you are weak in your instincts. Man has developed all kinds of technologies, science, because man is very weak. Just watch: he cannot run like a wolf or a dog, he is not strong like a lion or a tiger, he is not swift like a deer. Out of these imperfections he has done great things. He has developed weapons because he is weak physically; he could not have survived without weapons. He is delicate, he is not strong. Because he is not speedy he has developed speedy vehicles. Because he is prone to illness and disease he has developed medicine.
Out of imperfection man blooms. Because he does not know, he has developed philosophies and religions. No dog has developed a philosophy or a religion. There is no need; the dog knows already, knows instinctively. The dog is not ignorant, so there is no need to know. Man is ignorant, it hurts.
He tries to know, he becomes curious, he explores, he becomes adventurous.
All animals are satisfied; only man is continuously in discontent. That's his beauty. Out of his discontent he grows, he finds new ways of growth. Only man is anxious, anxiety-ridden. Hence he develops meditation techniques. Just watch: whatsoever you have - in culture, in art, in philosophy - is out of your imperfections.
Don't be bothered about perfection. Replace the word 'perfection' with 'totality'. Don't think in terms of having to be perfect, think in terms of having to be total. Totality will give you a different dimension."

I wish Eckhart Tolle one day would meet James French. He is the one who works with animals 100% peacefully by delivering the "present moment". He calls it "Trust Technique". Through practicing the Trust Technique I was able to establish a wonderful relationship with my blind horse based on trust and mutual understanding. Connection is stronger than control. It works with every sentient being. Not only horses or dogs. It is life changing not only for the animal but for it's human as well because the human gets used to being in the present moment. The main purpose of the Trust Technique ist to help animals to relax and in this purpose to help them when they release stuck emotions like anxiety or aggression.

My dog changed my life, also, and has helped save it physically, mentally (even though that was all due to my thoughts, I didn’t know it at the time), and spiritually. If it wasn’t for my dog I don’t know if I would have let myself be open to Eckhart’s teachings when I found them. Thank goodness because Eckhart’s lessons are the most important thing I can be learning and practicing. I feel so fortunate and grateful to be bonded with my pet with such a pure soul (as they all have) to have influenced me so much into changing into presence/awareness and understanding that it is my life’s purpose. 🙏

I love myself means there are two of me, the self that I love and the one that loves my self

My dogs are my children...and like a true mother, there is love, nagging, sibling rivalry, naughtiness to make me angry...and when i am very upset because of other issues they maintain their calmness n discipline...in illness except one everyone is sad,but the real problem is i am turning into their pack leader...the mother dog..
