The old lady was so shocked when she saw the photograph of the girls standing in front of the shrine because of this. The spirits are not so good as we see in season 1. In the last episode the spirits were angry when Miko offered them food and money because the thing that they wanted was Miko’s soul. Since she did offered “anything” when she made a wish in the shrine. In the manga, the old lady will play a big part in Miko’s life and there will be more interesting characters. ; As for Zen Tohno, I was actually surprised when the anime displayed the “cat abuser’s” picture as a “missing person” when in the manga, (if I remember it correctly) it says there that “cat abuser finally found”. That made me come up with a theory that Zen doesn’t murder cats but cat abusers? Who knows? Remember that scene in one episode where he had blood in his hands? Add the fact that we still don’t know why his mother died, isn’t she the one who killed his cat? Abused the cat? ; What about the land lady who puts hairs on his food? The manga still doesn’t have any update about that woman but who knows, maybe she will also play as an important character in the story. Anyways I know that the next season will be lit as hell🔥 Have a nice Christmas and New Year :>

Bit pissed that they sorta showed the shrine spirit true form in this episode instead of the reveal and they changed things. For non manga ppl: in the manga she went to the hill where the shrine was located but couldn’t find it. Then when she was surrounded by spirits the two fox mikos appeared and she gave them an offering to thank them. But they weren’t happy and their reaction to her got bit more hostile until the old lady came and got her out of there. This scene of her being there is purely the anime and they decided to jump ahead to revealing the shrine spirit true self. (Spoiler here but might as well bring it since they most likely gonna change it) In the manga when they went back to the shrine the shrine spirit engulfed meiroku and in the darkness a long hand appears dangling a bell in front of her. Then as it got closer it shows it’s true face that’s horrifying looking, bell for eyes and rows of sharp teeth. Reason I bring if you is what the author does a great job at is don’t expect/assume what you think that thing or person is. The entire time in manga the shrine spirit didn’t look “evil” looking and usually has its own personal gain. Until that moment that I mention it shows it’s true self, what the shrine is and what exactly the two Fox mikos are which that part I won’t say. The reveal shocked a lot of fans that read the manga and it is annoying they basically went “so s2 we ain’t sure on so…. $@&! It here is the spirit true self right now instead of wait if we do s2.” Which is pretty much what it is.
So when she went to the hill and couldn't find it, was that her dreaming? And then she went for real? Cause in the anime she was just dreaming and when she woke up she didn't go to give an offering and thank them for saving her. They ended the anime without showing what was really going to happen if she went back to the shrine.

She couldn’t find it then ghosts appeared and surrounded her wifh later the two miko foxes appeared wondering what she wants. She offer them treats (don’t know what’s it called but it’s not the one shown here) as thank for helping her but they got mad and poison the treats. They became bit more aggressive and assuming was about to attack her until the old granny appeared and got her out of there. After they go to a family diner to talk about her gifts to see specific type of spirits and the granny knows what that shrine place is. Yeah the way this anime ended it’s a “we ain’t sure we gonna get greenlit to do a 2nd season. So we gonna give you a conclusion plus continuation scene just in case.” Which is what it is.
Literally if wanna continue where anime ended for the manga start at chapter 22-23 and read from there. As of right now there is about 38 chapters only hence why possibly they chose to end the anime liek this do to not enough source to adapt yet.
