I live in Minnesota and grew up passively Christian Zionist. I was just never really aware of this issue before October 7. And now it’s all I think about; I pray, I attend protests, I make calls and try not to despair. What right do I have to despair? Though the horror and the grief is unrelenting.

Despair is human. As you've learned, all you need to empathize with Palestine is to be human...

A spiritual knot. That's it. I'm just an old ordinary English lady, but what's happening is so portentous for our humanity that every night I wake and pray, often cry, as I am doing at this moment. Every day my finger hovers over the Al Jazeera app and I brace myself for what the news will be.

    Bless you Noura. 🙏
Being secular I've found myself crying and praying and isolated and even at work. This is not me, I'm a 44 year old man and this broke me. I decided to subscribe to the Palestinian cause and all I can say is I will never give up on Palestine and Palestinians. ❤

Its difficult to keep hearing about the pain the children of Palestine experience...its difficult because I cannot help. I don't want to hear a word about israel...I cannot accept that this place of pure horror even exists.

I have become a fan of Noura, she is insightful and keeps the conversation grounded in the sad reality, but with hope on the horizon. It is a heartbreaking reality looking around at the powers still holding on the levers and deciding to go against the the majority of public opinion; the majority of the world is outraged. I will be a voice for the Palestinian people in whatever way I can.

We must never stop until every Palestinian is safe and free 🙏 ❤💚🤍🖤🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸

Inspiring and very authentic, I thank you both from the bottom of my heart! Never thought I'd be watching UA-cam (& fortunately I got kicked out of meta for liking Pro-Palestinian posts, (I don't even post ever). Having said that, the censorship is real, creepy & scary...but after listening to this, I get it! They (the powers that be) feel threatened and in the end that gives us leverage and courage! We never give up!!!

The mental health of a generation is overlooked by most. I can’t imagine the mental states of babies born
in Iraq and Afganistán after 20 years of witnessing war.
In the US if you spank your child you get accused of abuse, but you can advocate for war and destroy the fabric of life of a child somewhere else in the world and somehow that’s ok.
    Surreal!

In response to Noura. There was a body before the UN, the US president tried to create it but the US congress rejected it. The Europeans proceeded without the US. As a consequence there was WWII and the conflict in Palestine. And so the question is not whether there is going to be an international governing body that modulates the excesses of human attempts to consolidate power, the question is how that body is to be assembled. Obviously if we left that up to 3 European powers the world would be fucked. Been there and done that.
So then the next question is the UN, and the problem coming out of WWII, as a victor, GB still had alot of power, but as a capable of cleaning up its messes . . . .they still continued to meddle in Palestine and mess things up. They made the map that allowed Israel to take the Aravah because they wanted a means to pressure Egypt over the Suez. They had tremendous influence in Jordan.
And so yes, the victor states, US, USSR, France and England had alot of power in the UN. Much of Europe was still trying to get its act back together, many quckly fell under soviet sphere. But despite this the UN is the vessel that the world uses to keep check on existential threats to the world.
I see the problem different from you, the people of the regions . .Gaza, Aravah, Ramallah, Jericho, Galilee . . . .they as a people are held by Israel in a state of suspended animation. They cannot evolve and explore themselves like other societies, and these waves ripple out from these lands as evidence of the struggle and oppression of the collective haves against the collective have nots by denying the have-nots access to their means of ascent. They create a self-fulfilling prophecy in which the net result is ethnic cleansing.
And I think your strategy is wrong. While I agree that South Africa's case to the ICJ and they certainly to pursue this. The most important thing is to draw out the zionist strategy, not from 1947, but from 1915 even 1915 to demonstrate all the points along the way in which the Zionist have been painting palestinians and aravah Arabs negatively in order to promote themselves as proper stewards of the land. This constant state of propaganda that we see explode in spades on october seventh, the monstrousity that is so incredulous world leaders a chocking on defending Israel, has a long, long history of cultivation.
If you can immunize the world against fascist propaganda of the nature of Israel's far right and likud party, you can win palestinian freedom.

Wait wait wait, you are losing me. what's law now? I think Noura makes a cogent argument about the relationship between law and power... but it's not something one gets on first hearing. She is arguing in a Derridean manner about the binary oppositions which seem to inform our political and legal thinking.

New sub. I found this interview edifying. Just wish highly educated people would stop peppering their discourse with “comma, right?”. It detracts from the quality of their thoughts. It’s a literary/communications device taught in grad school intended to garner the agreement (or at least engagement) of an audience. From my perspective, it cheapens intent and message. All that said, great interview.

When is noura erakat going to condemn the horrific genocide that is being commited in sub-saharan africa by islamic jihadists since 1995-96 till now. Literally hundreds of thousands of innocent people have been murdered in the most horrific ways, including the decapitating of children..!
Why doesn't she talk about the 1980 slaughter of at least 15.000 palestinians in 11 days time by the Jordanian army..!?
What about the millions of US dollars and European euro's that have been donated 9ver the years but of which at least 85% ends up in the hands of islamic terror organizations..!?
    She is 100% hypocrite..!!
