I love this video. Unfortunately it's only July. Am a Yankee, albeit was raised countryside Bremerhaven. Can't it be Xmas time already? Love that Krampus films are (as of late) being being produced....still going to be 5 more months until it's season again. 😢 Absolute favorite time of the year!
I was too lazy to write an answer, so I got you one from Google 😁 The name "Krampus" can be derived from two words: On the one hand the old German word "Krampen", which means claw and alludes to its creepy figure, on the other hand the Bavarian word "Krampn", which means something lifeless, dried up or withered. Good and evil are often found together - this is also the case with the generous Saint Nicholas and the scary Krampus. The Krampus is considered a frightening figure and companion of Saint Nicholas during the Advent season. He threatens the naughty children with his rod, intending to pack them in his backpack and (presumably) take them to hell. Saint Nicholas hands over the beautiful gifts and warns the bad children to be good in the coming year. So that the scary Krampus never has to take them to hell. The Krampus tradition probably stems from a pagan custom and dates back to pre-Christian times. The frightened figure was supposed to drive away the evil fog and winter spirits with its appearance and terrible noise. However, during the Inquisition the custom was banned. Those who disguised themselves as devils were punished with the death penalty. However, in some, more remote Alpine valleys, the winter custom was continued. From around the middle of the 17th century, the tradition arose that the Krampus accompanied St. Nicholas through the streets from house to house. The custom has continued to spread and is practiced particularly in Bavaria, Austria, Slovenia, South Tyrol and Northern Italy. In many places, certain “Klausentrieb” or “Krampus parades” are a tradition. Before or on December 5th, whole hordes of scary creatures roam the town and the Christmas markets. Either in the entourage of St. Nicholas or in a large Krampus group, they scare passers-by, spread fear among the children and punish cheeky children and young people with their rods. Entire Krampus runs are often organised, with up to a thousand devilish Krampuses on display. According to historical custom, only young, unmarried men are allowed to appear as Krampus. Those who belong to the very courageous children annoy and irritate the frightening creatures. Of course always with caution not to get caught. At most, they face punishment with a rod or even danger in the Butte. ;)

I find it hard to watch the entire video because it's so terrible. Please learn about Islam instead; it's the only religion that offers beauty and tranquility.
it has absolutly NOTHING to do with religion. Its an very old Austrian tradition to either punish the bad kids(krampus) or to scare away the cold winter (perchten).
What a lot of unhappy looking Krampus'. I only saw one having a ball. The rest seemed genuinely upset they weren't actually at GWAR concert.
BRO THAT'S THE MOST SCARIEST THING I EVER SAW IN MY LIFE
Happy Nea Year, bro. Hello from Russia. :-)
Happy new year
Super
