The vase and flowers are part of the car they are fitted by VW
We just found this out! Truly had no idea
Volkswagen always put little vases in the Beetles.
The vase is a reminder of the models from the 1950s. At that time the vase was part of the luxury version. A popular accessory in Europe.

I'm not a big fan of this car, but thank-you for restoring this gem. Thank-you Mike for giving this car another good home and choosing to breath life back into it. Awesome job!
May the previous owner rest in peace and god bless his family.
What a sad story behind this car 😢 You did an amazing work with it, happy to see this Beetle running again!
It drove great!
This story is a prime example of not taking ANYTHING for granted. Enjoy life, love your friends and family, and live everyday like it’s a gift. That’s why they call it the present.
Very satisfying video!
3:33 those New Beetles all came with that bracket/holder for a small vase and flower. It was a nod back to the original Beetle, which was the poster-car for the "Flower Power" movement. A such different companies developed accessories for the vase and flower, so my guess is this one was soldered in because it used to light up or something.
Oh wow. Interesting
@@WDDetailing Although the dash-flower was indeed original, the side stickers were ugly you guys did good removing those but the louvres for rear window at least you did great cleaning all the dirt & debris trapped but it should be kept mounted back in dear loving memory of your friend who owned this Beetle.. keep doing great work !
The louvers and rotted decals had to go.
@@poplaurentiu4148 I agree about the decals and louvres. decals only had value to the previous owner, and even I could not find any aesthetic in them. The louvres, however, is something of the times (you had to have been there), and they could have been treated and replaced. they would be a hit at a cars n coffee.
really enjoyed this video. I love how you had the restorative goal from the beginning, and had an opportunity to get some items to replace and restore/repair (not usually a detail thing). I really like how you only show the finished car at the end, and not edit in a bunch of 'before' shots- its so much better the way you did it, with only the finished car at the end.
Cool and pretty little car. Looks beautiful again.
I'd have sprayed some rust converter on that floor pan before putting the new carpets in, but aside from that, what a transformation!
Great transformation. The work you guys did on the interior was awesome.
the 1.9 TDI is VW's bulletproof engine.
It will go on forever. And having a manual also means trouble free
It’s a sweet ride once again! Good to see the decals gone, that’s my preference. Awesome job!
Definitely would repair and clean it up! I have a 2003 VW Beetle and love it. All beetles come with a floor vase, that’s the part you asked about. How many miles were on the odometer? Y’all did a wonderful job. What did you use to clean the headlights? Mine definitely need what you did!
188,000 !
I was so relived when you got rid of those hideous decals! You end result was amazing per usual, the paint looked so glossy and slick, those rust spots are unfortunate though.
WOW what a cool car and even cooler owner.
Estou assistindo vc aqui do Rio de Janeiro, Brasil, parabéns pelo belo trabalho e pelos conteúdos postados!
Any car no matter make or model is deserving of new life. Glad you were able to save this one from either the crusher or the u pull it yard. Pretty cool that’s it’s a manual as well.
Wow! Absolutely loving this detail, and car is just 😍😍😍
❤
That junkyard carpet cleaned up GOOD.
Ya'll do great work!
wow good job guys
I love the moment when they test drive, it kinda looks like some scene from a movie, and then it ends with the camera falling😂😂. These guys are the best.
Amazing transformation.
Love that you save it. ❤
Very good job!!!
Great clean up of this sad moldy Beetle👍👍👍👍👍👍
i love vw cars
Beautiful Beetle ❤️
Another great job , yes the decals needed to go. Looks great
Do you guys do anything that kills the mold? I would be afraid of some being stuck deep in the foam of the seats or something and begin to spread over time.
18:06 some quick metai wheel grinding and rust sealant in a spray can would stop the rust in the floor pans!
Parabéns cara vcs e demais salvo o new ❤
Awesome work!
Ooohh, that looks like an early '60s Nova back there, Awesome! Definitely look forward to seeing that next week. :)
Waw quel travail remarquable 👍
Wow, love this video! I'm a Beetle lover and owner and, sure, I think every Beetle deserves to be restored
Wow. That is really impressive!!! Great job as always. What sprayer do you use to spray the carpet cleaner? I love the output it gives. I don't see it linked in your description.
Wonderful job on the detail. I was wondering how do u get mold out of the ac vents? What products do you use ?
Really great cleaning,congratulations…..
I'm impressed with the work being done... I have 2 Beetles that where destroyed, I have them both running now... I had so much corrosion that my ignition barrel was frozen/locked due to so much rust, mole everywhere... puddles of water in the vehicle.... 7 rat nest harnesses chewed up, now I'm going to transform them and add them into my ministry and hit the car show circuit... please come over to check out the work... videos will start to be released in another week...
Great work from you guys..
It's so awesome that you guys are doing that. But, since you're asking..... I'm not a fan of the VW design language. I'd just walk right by it in a car lot. But I understand the love for one's car. I have a 2012 Hyundai Azera Limited, and I adore this car. Hyundai's aren't the highest quality, but I love their look and design language. So, I totally get where the past owner is coming from. Great job, guys!!!!
Such a sad story about what happened the previous Owner and great job on the car and the owner would be really proud of both of you. Prayers to his Friends and Family🙏❤
❤
I have a 98 …love it ..needs some tlc
Really really great job with the car 😃😃😃😃😃👌👌👌👌👌👌👌♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
I would give life to that little Bug again. Just because of the story
Man that vw is clean
Man when y’all took that dash apart i knew I was in for a good video!
Nice vidéo ! maybe a rust treatment under the carpet would ba a good idea !
I would definitely clean it and love it! Restore them whenever possible! ❤
This is one of your better videos, as you rescued a formerly cared for car, and then found the pieces to make it whole again. This is constructive work, and much better than blowing mud off cars which have been "mudded" and abused.
You'd never know what it look like before you guys cleaned up that car. ❤
I own a 2006 Beetle & mine has the vase with a flower. 🌸
Wow I love this video. Sorry to hear about the man😢
We want to see more of those restoration type videos, not just cleaning
2.0 for the motor.
Y’all are the only ones I see that routinely remove the carpeting. Seems like the only way to do it right.
I’d definitely fix it and sell it. The hood and front bumper definitely need some love.
Great job! How much time did this take over all? It's always hard to tell in time lapsed videos ...
Whatsup from South Africa you guys do a kick ass job and the choice of music is just sick man👌
😍❤
I've seen older beetles with a flower vase and a bunch of daisies in it, a throw back to the hippie movement
Love the beetle we had a black convertible and the engines a 19 diesel very good engine great on fuel
wow great job saving this beetle the flowers belong in it a tradition for a beetle to have flowers in it take the decals off
Good.jop 👏👏👏👍👍👍😃😃😍😍😍
I didnt notice till you put the engine cover back on but its a 1.9 turbo diesel thats so cool I completely forgot they made these for the beetles thats awesome
Tdi 🔥
Do you guys still use MAD detailing products?
I would CLEAN it up and VOILA!!
Good work....
👍👍👍
14:05 It looks like Coco - Cola to me 😁. Btw Iam really impressed watching your videos day by day keep it up ❤️✌🏻
Good job Guys. If someone gave me that car I would ship it to you to do the same on it as you did here. Its beautiful.. Does it actually run?
Yes Mick oldest car got lots of problems lucky you and your coworkers rescue this car and gives New life for it
Light with flowers
I think the flowers were a traditional add-on for the beetles.
I would restore her, love the history of this car ❤
Brilliant as ususal 🙂 What window cleaner do you use please? Cheers.
i am curious too what they spray to clean the windows inside ..
Nice job! However, I would remove wheels and clean the barrels. Also, headlights will fall again quickly unless you put some coating to protect the plastic from UV.
My son was just gifted an 03 Beetle. It’s not this bad, but it’s dang close. So far we have about 8-10 man hours into cleaning it up. But hey, it was free and a little sweat equity isn’t going to hurt him.
Hey Brent !
It's very sad 😔
I hope his family would keep it,
Oh...and I'm glad to see you guys using protective clothings and gloves ! Well done 👏🏽 👏🏽👏🏽
It is sad but we hope to have made him happy with the end results!
@@WDDetailing Indeed, you did an amazingly awesome work ! I hope one day I would be very glad if you could detail my car 😊
❤
❤
From a purely financial "worth" standpoint there may be little to no value left. Sentimentally, however, it's priceless!
Just out of curiosity, when you record the sped-up bits, do you record it in 30fps, then speed it up 2x to make it 60fps? I am looking into following this path as a hobby and may want to record it.
Love they transformation but those floor pans looked pretty rusty
Keep it and have all the rust taken care of.
I think we might do a lemons race with it!
Was that a roadrunner in the background?
This is the famous 1.9 TDI PD (EA188 series): the most reliable 4 cylinder Turbo Diesel engine that VW made from 1996 to 2010. If maintained properly, it lasted forever! The acronym “PD” means in German “Pumpe-Düse”: that new injection system was with pump injectors. I fell in love with this engine… ❤
This one was an ALH. It still uses an injection pump. It’s totally bulletproof. I had a Golf with that engine for 18 years. I sold it with 393K miles on it.
22:00 rinse that OUTSIDE of the engine bay ...all that runoff is sticking to the lower components
Guarantee the mold was due in part to clogged sun roof drains. The vase was wired over to the dash light dimmer with an led to light up the vase when the lights got switched on.
Were the plastics (interior) sticky? I have an 01 beetle that sat for about 4 years. Every piece of plastic turned sticky. I'm trying to figure out what to use to unsticky it. You guys did a great job on that beetle. What happened to the louvers? I'd be interested in them. 😁
Can you explain what you used for the headlight restoration?
Light on the Flower
Why was the car torn apart inside? Good video, guys.
I have a 2004 turbo beetle. There was mod published a while back to run wiring with LED lights up to the vase to light it up. Looks like the owner might have had the flower lights instead of just bulbs. You guys can detail mine anytime 😊
Pretty cute Beetle, now it's really dirty, you doing a good job, the beetle will be saved now.
Ahhh just three guys in a Beetle
Yes u should take the decal cuz I love it to be cute and the type of engine are 2.0
As others have said all Volkswagen beetles came with the little vase to put a flower in from the factory but I can only assume that the soddering and the wires would be as if the previous owner had some sort of small fiber optic light up flowers in the vase that turned on when you turn your lights on
As the Classic VW Bugs become rare and valueble again I think the first gen of New Beetles are becoming the new Classics this decade. As for the flower at 3:30 they were suppose to be a flower vase you put a Flower in (tribute to the Classic Bug "Flower Power"Hippies.) But I guess someone made it into a flower you can turn the lights on as if it's a Christmas Decoration. I also would have removed those ugly stickers from the car. But I would soak them with WD-40 first.
It will be a muscle car !!!!!!))))))))))
Made the original owner proud.. and the new owner some money 😅
The louvers you removed are a very rare aftermarket option only made for a few years by a company called wilpak
Coffee lol 😆
Do you pre spray APC or degreaser on the car before the wash?
How does all the water drainunder your flooring blocks?
A manual diesel beetle 😯
Coca-Cola lol @14:18
Forbidden Coca Cola
I've been always wondering since you moved in the new workshop, does the whole floor act like a drain? Looks like all the water just disappears :)
