I am extremely doubtful that Project L will release with significant if any single-player content. League is notorious for being extremely feature-limited especially with League of Legends and especially with any potential PVE (as far as I know there was pretty much two limited modes that were treated and gimmicks and removed after a few weeks, and this is in the entire decade+ lifespan). Valorant has no PVE either, just don't see Project L having any especially since the game is taking quite a while to produce The two biggest aspects of this game, which I'm surprised wasn't talked about, is the bigger money in FGC tourneys for Project L, and bringing in new playerbase. F2P aside, a fair amount of league addicts and especially Chinese league addicts may try it out. Chinese playerbase is extremely lacking for fighting games, we got a couple of pros and a ehh-sized Chinese community for street fighter at best. A PC-focused F2P fighting game with league characters they're exposed to can literally get millions of people into fighting games for the first time
Yeah, I'd say put any expectations of much single-player stuff from Project L out of your mind. Even not having played League or its other associated games, just having played other F2P games, those don't really split their focus like that, they're mostly either PvE (single-player/co-op) or PvP (multiplayer/co-op) focused, with little to no overlap. It'll surely have training mode type stuff, probably a simple arcade mode, but I wouldn't bet on much more.
LoR (the card game) has a good PVE scene, but yeah I highly doubt Project L will have any single player especially considering the pace of development.
Yea league universe is so big and they have enought singlebplayer game that share the same cast they can just told you "if you want ___ content go play ___ instead"
arcsys 2.5D characters have an insane amount of work put into their models and animations. even just making one new outfit for one character up to their standards would be way more work than arcsys (which i need to remind people, is still a pretty small company!) could really expend for a cosmetic unless bandai paid them literally buckets for it. even revelator elphelt's outfit has visual bugs in some of her animations that aren't in her sign outfit so with that in mind i was never /that/ surprised they didn't basically create entire new character models and animate them for what would be like max 8 bucks completely cosmetic DLC, the profits of which wouldn't even go to them.
Yeah, it's a known thing in the ASW community. But you would figure that bamco would be willing to pay, especially with how many copies they sold. Edit - I mentioned it too with granblue, obviously the weapons aren't the same as full on costumes, but it's clear it can be done.
@@LordKnightfgc yeah tbf it does sound like a bandai thing to want to do but maybe arcsys shot it down. i mean i was amazed videl even had an alternate costume. though i do agree that they should have had more dlc stages at least for dbfz. those would be more likely for most people to purchase and there’s a lot of famous locations that just got left out of the stage roster.

Things like Twisted Fate's cards seeming smaller than their actual hitboxes when using his Q ability in his "Underworld Twisted Fate" skin. Or Zigg's W ability being difficult to see when using one of his skins in the ARAM map (which has yet to be solved, and probably will never be, as it is not an issue on the Summoner's Rift main mode map). Skin QA will likely be a huge headache for the devs going forward.
@@LordKnightfgc The main reason you have tons of alternate costumes in other 3D games like Street Fighter or Tekken is because cloth and hair have their movement calculated by the engine, that means you don't have to manually animate that stuff. Arcsys's 3D style is possible because the models are animated like 2D animation, they don't use the engine to calculate movements, EVERYTHING is animated by hand.
There's a good reason why ArcSystem Works don't make costumes. Their character animations (hair, clothes, and shadows included) are all hand animated. If they make a new costume they'd have to re-adjust every single animation, including Supers and all to be in line with their new shadows and clothes. At that point they're just making a new character, so they just make new characters over costumes instead, which sells way more anyway.
Sorry to tell you but, free to play competitive games don't really get single player content unless it's literally a card game. I don't think anybody should expect any kind of extra content from Project L. A lot of the big fighting games have reached a point where they feel that they NEED to add content to their game to: 1. Justify their price 2. Appeal to the casual audience to bring in more players (Justifying the price with more single player content is essentially appealing to the casual audience too, but I've heard some FGC folk say it's getting ridiculous paying AAA pricing for online and tutorial/combo trials only) Project L will be free to play. It already appeals to the casual audience just like that. And hence shouldn't feel indebted to add copious amounts of content since the game.. is literally free.
I think one of the biggest things will be how much effort they’re putting into the 2v2 and 1v2 systems . It it works well I can see more fighting games putting that same effort in if it’s successful
GB Rising will be a big contributer. In the original, the lobby system is so accessible that even with netcode plagued by Za Warudo, people return to shake the rust off. This coupled with a new casual approach is gonna be explosive, in a good way.
The only downside i hope not every game after will follow is game becoming f2p/always online. So if oneday dev want to pull the plug on server noone will be able to playanymore It mainly what i dont like about shooter and moba so i hope the entire fg wont become like that if project L did change the landscape
I would prefer a more complete game but I think they probably gonna release a pretty bare bones open beta, do some minor balance patches along side a battlepass with cosmetic profile stuff, chat stickers/emojis, taunts, intros, outros and a character or an alternative color every month... And after ~1.5 years a bigger patch for a full release. The moba and the shooter are team base, and the auto chess and the card game are versus, they definitely has experience with all kinds of ranked modes but I still wonder how its gonna be you a platinum/diamond player + your silver friend versus another player(s). Hope they don't reset ranks, just reset the player battle pass LV. A robust training mode like SF6 is obligatory, you have to do it, its just so good, so my top 1 feature would be playable replays since those assist games seems to have pretty tricky setups, would so much easier not having to learn how to execute all of them and just lab through replays.
There needs to be a bunch of single player modes and options as well. Smash is the biggest fighting game and imo a big part of that is bc it has story mode and break the targets and home run contest and special fight mode. The idea of being a full and complete video game is highly important here.
