Here are the instructions to enable subtitle translation:
1-You can turn on subtitles by clicking the CC icon at the bottom of a UA-cam video.
2-You can also adjust caption settings by clicking the gear icon. If subtitles are available for a video, a choice of generated captions and other formats will be available here.
3-Once the French subtitles have been activated, you can go further and obtain a translation of these texts, in ENGLISH in particular.
4-Click on the Settings icon represented by a cogwheel (bottom right) then successively on Subtitles then on Translate automatically.
5-In the window that opens, scroll down the list of languages then click on ENGLISH. The translation sometimes lacks accuracy but it is a significant help. Be careful, however, not to take everything at face value because misinterpretations are quite frequent.
