This narrator sounds a little like Peter Coyote, one of the best documentary narrators in the world. Thanks for this excellent companion video to "The Fighting Lady."
Great video. I've seen a lot of relatives photos, movie newsreels, the old series Victory At Sea, and many others over my 70 years. The personal videos here were just fantastic and new to me. Enjoyed it very much.
Amazing quality personal project film & story - I have never seen comparible ... btw, I honeymooned in Mt.Pleasant and went everywhere in Charleston around 1988 > walked the Yorktown .
I enjoyed this video of the Yorktown. It added a lot of more personal perspectives. Went well with the Fighting Lady documentary. Heartbreaking about the pilots lost during the final hours of hostilities. I remember this carrier well from the days when my own ship was stationed in Long Beach, CA in the '60's. In fact my wife and I stood on the forward edge of her flight deck to watch the Queen Mary arrive in '67.
The music is woefully unappealing considering the actions being demonstrated. The moderation is excellent. I always figured I would be killed walking into a prop if I had ever been on a crew. I’ve never been able to pay adequate attention. Was a heavy equipment operator my entire career.
this personal video is as informative as the original fighting lady, has the best footage I've seen of the fly by during VJ day including rare prep phase and the aerial pre=surrender checks of Japanese air baes as well as the first footage of occupation troops, these are hard to come by so clear.
Thin is right! I went to the last air show of Doolittle and there were other planes there. I’m a size 4 5’5 132 lbs and I had to squeeze in the holes. How an adult man did it was beyond me. ✌️❤️🙏🦋🇺🇸

Fabulous stuff. At 68 and a lifelong die-hard WW2 fan it is a rare and appreciated gift to view this unseen vintage treasure. Thanks !!!
I Saw The Fighting Lady, But This Is My First Time Seeing This One! ⚓

This is a wonderful documentation from and about the USS Yorktown.
Thank you I always wondered why it look like paper was over the gun barrels.
very nice how they explain everything in detail!

Got the stupid habit of cutting out 2/3rds of picture
Where you all went and took those beautiful swords from them and destroyed all of them for no reason
Good old game of pick up baseball
