Great video! To all: eBikes can run on electric only, pedals only, or most commonly electric-assist pedaling. The electric motor amplifies your pedaling!
I really appreciate your video. Your professionalism was very evident as was your knowledge of deer hunting specifics. Thus, you demonstrated your credibility which was complimented by your well written script, clearly and firmly delivered. Your discussion of the problems faced by public land hunters and how an electric fat tire bike solves those was very relevant and well addressed. Well done. I suggest the next discussion, if you haven't yet addressed it, would be that of your selection process related to the bikes.
Thank you. Good idea for another video
as a mountain biker i totally agree i have almost ran into so many deer riding on trails
Great vid. Thanks for demonstrating another practical use for the ebike.
Great video! Concise and to the point.
Im an amateur racer cyclist, Ive hunted as a child and teenager, move to a city and haven't done it for years, I rode an ebike today and it gave me ideas on how to go back into hinting
Man I'm from Italy and was just browsing around (for a closer look at the racks trailers etc) and can only say, i'm SO jeally right now! Great tips and great video...! :)
8 months late but if by chance you see this :
How is hunting in Italy? What do you generally use/hunt?
u look great on the bike it a game changer I believe one day they will be race ing. electric bike"s like race cars smile every thing you said was help full and make a person want this bike one of the best video "s I have ever seen
Hey Bernie, was going to buy a trailer until I watched this video. I already have a crawler so I am all set . Looks like you just lashed it to the back shelf bracket which I just installed one of those too. Got the fat tire bike on Craigslist for $550 !
what kind of hanging tree stands do you use? looking for a lightweight one to go with my mountain bike (love the FatKat, but out of my league price wise). Great video on how to use the bike.
Excellent review
Well done!
Yep thks I've been trying to do a hookup, luv's that trlr u've answer'd what I've been searching for what kinda trlr is that,& yes it does get U around fast, when I get up in the mornin can't walk far but hop in my fattire's I can go a long way......?
Great review!
Thanks!
well done thank you!
GOOD VIDEO. Thank you. I was looking into a possible ATV for hunting, but this has got me so curious - I'd rather do a bike now with a trailer, I think!
A guy at work bought one and it was 1200 bucks
@@mr.rogers9319 You can't buy a bike like this for $1200. Most are $3000-$5000 for the good ones.
Interesting...
Very interesting...
Price range for these things bowhunter?
Great video. So love this idea! I'm in Montana where we have miles of logging roads with no way to access great hunting that is deep within the wilderness. Curious to know where you got your four wheeled game cart. Where can I find one for myself?
www.hawkhunting.com/collections/accessories/products/crawler-deer-cart
BowhuntingRoad page not found?!
the problem and big deception with electric ridable stats, is that if it claims s 20 mile range, you can cut that number about in half
I have that same cart. Its made by Hawk. You can find it on their web site. I love it. It's a bit harder to turn than a 2 wheel but much easier to pull. Its a single axle for all 4 wheels, so it really goes over logs and rocks very easily.

New review !
Quite nice..
Where did you get the 750 watt Fed rule? BLM and USFS don't have any exceptions for motors on ebikes. Please clarify, thanks
It's an actual federal regulation but it only applies to LESS than 750 watts (dunno where 750 watts or less comes from), and doesn't apply to BLM and USFS rules. In short if it's under the BLM or USFS it's treated just like a 4 wheeler. Which is pretty much 100% of public hunting land. Was really interested in a fat tire ebike for use on public land before I realized that. I guess if you found some state public land that wasn't federal it would probably be legal. I have no idea where that would be since there is none in my area.
@@slimjim7411 You're wrong. E-bikes are exempt from from being regulated as motor vehicles by the Federal government. BLM and USFS must treat E-bikes no different than they would a normal bicycle. Meaning anywhere you can use a bicycle on federal land or public land you can use an E-bike. The law also specifically states it supersedes any State law or requirement. So no state can pass a law restricting E-bikes beyond what the federal law says. Which boils down to 750watts or less, has working pedals, cannot exceed 20mph when solely driven by the motor is a bicycle.
www.iloveebikes.com/Distributorfiles/FEDregulation.pdf
I see what is printed but it is not on a federal site with any article or rule numbers to support it . Believe me when I say I wish this was true as I am 70 years old, disabled and need help getting to places to fish . So do you know where this originated ?
Did he fall down right at the end of this video?
Your conditions were pretty dry and clear. Would like to see a trial in deep woods and mud.
I’m looking for a setup like his. I know many people who ride all year on these here in Calgary Alberta. Snow is no problem but like every vehicle, deep mud is. The advantages of his setup is that you can follow a pretty narrow trail to avoid mud.
There’s also AWD fat bike versions ( hub motor on both wheels) good torque for rain, mud, hills. Never tried snow cause I’m in Hawaii but hear it good for snow too!
What kind of hitch are you using to attach the trailer to the bike? Where can I buy one at?
That particular one is just a couple heavy bungee cords. I have switched to these trailers with a hitch that connects to the hub. bakcou.com/collections/trailers/
Love the idea of ebikes for bowhunting, but USFS and TPWD still consider these "motorized vehicles" because they do have a motor. Where did you get the 750w definition? I have never heard that before
I bet ecotric hammer can do the same for about 1300 hundred 1000w motor
I have that same trailer was thinking of using on my bike also how has it worked out looks like you just have it tied onto the rack.
Yes it is attached to the rear rack with some short heavy bungees. It has worked great. If there was a better way to attach it, I would like to know about it, but this has worked fine. I have since switched to the Bakcou bike with hub mounted trailer.
BowhuntingRoad
I bought a Biktrix juggernaut Xd had nothing to compare it with but I think it’s going to do well for me. I did change the chainring from 42t to a 36t that really helped on step hills.
Bernie, any tips on how to connect the Hawk crawler cart up to the bike rack?
I have been using some short but strong bungees. This works okay, but I'm still looking for a better way.
I’m curious to what bungee knot worked best with your trailer hitch? Thks gc
Just two small bungee cords with bulbs on the end.
Hey Bernie i know nothing about elc bikes but I'm 65 and can't get far back away from the other hunter's like I use to (2 1/2 ) miles because of arthritis I'm looking at getting one to haul tree stand in and out and hopefully a buck what info represent the power that I would need for this purpose
I would go with at least 750W. And stay with a mid-drive, the hub drives are not as reliable or powerful.
Hi, where can I buy the back connection of your bike the one you were carrying the deer! ?
It's called the Crawler deer cart by Hawk Hunting.
What cart is that?
But is the bike itself giving off a scent while parked behind the blind or do you park it close and walk in.
I usually park it about 50 yards from my stand and of course the deer don't care about the scent of a bike. They might be a little curious about it which is why I try to keep it out of sight.
This is great, but the damn fat tire bikes are way too expensive
I Have a piece of property thats 82 acres. Really dont wanna spend thousands on a 4wheeler/ATV/Golf kart then have it break or get stolen.. Im thinking an electric bike is best. But still looks like its gonna cost aboht $900...
Where can I find the bike trailer shown in this video?
Search for Hawk Crawler deer cart.
How good is it going uphill or on rocky trails?
Great going up hill, in fact that is where it really shines. The fat tires are helpful on rocky/gravelly areas.
I never see anybody carrying a rifle with one of these
I see it all the time.
What did you use to attach the trailer
Bungees
What model are you riding of the QuietKat?
It's been discontinued.
Put on a Orange Cap of Jacket Tag ...........Otherwise you might get shot touring through the brush in camo cloths ( Yellow rims dont cut it ).
All alone out there during archery season, no orange required.
What size battery do you have?
This one has a 750Watt
Beats the combustion engine that's for damn sure .
This would save a lot of heart attacks getting deer out of the woods unfortunately states like my state of Pennsylvania rather see you get a heart attack instead of using something like this on state land
fed law trumps states on this... u cAN USE IT...
www.iloveebikes.com/Distributorfiles/FEDregulation.pdf
How do you attach the cart as a trailer?
Bungees
That front gear looks way to big for offroad use.
Wear is the bike trailer from?
Hawk Crawler.
Nice looking Bike but I looked it up and is real pricey
Nice trailer, what kind is it?
Hawk Crawler deer cart.
How much will freezing conditions shorten battery life?
I have used the bike down to about 20 degrees without noticing too much difference. Have not used it below that temperature.
Every lithium battery range decrease when it s cold no exception
I use a typical EU pedelec for shopping, and in near freezing temps or below the loss of power is dramatic.
a hand warmer under foil bubble wrap . making sure allow for off gassing . No problem .
Most batteries both lead acid and lithium included lose about half their capacity when the battery gets down to freezing temperatures. If you ride your bike from your warm house you may not be effected cuz the battery is producing heat as it discharges, so never really get's too cold, but if you let the battery cool to freezing temperatures the bike will have about half it's normal range.
they dont sell them in ontario
gotta watch for cougars
Yeah those older ladies love electric fat tire bikes.
What is that trailer?
Hawk crawler.
Was that a real deer on your trailer or just a prop?
LOL no that was a dead buck!
Info on the trailer??
ua-cam.com/video/FlfkfeO0ves/v-deo.html
Eco hunting jajajajajaja greta like dis
I can ride faster and for longer distances with a regular bike, so this jus gets me the less tired with the possibility of leaving me half stranded?
NO WAY you can ride faster with a regular bike. No chance. You need to test drive one of these things.
its sad that these cannot be used on many state game lands. They are quiet, will reduce the number of heart attacks hunters have when dragging out the animal. But hey, we would not want to change the way things were done 50 years ago now would we.
Why? isn't it just a bicycle and if someone approached you just pedal?
Where did you get the bike racks for the trailer?
I bought them at my local bicycle shop. They use them for display and I screwed them to the floor of the trailer.
Thanks.
look at the price of that junk. I hunt public land because I'm broke not because I have 2500-3000 to throw at a bicycle.
So much want.
Id like to know the about price 2000 $$$
$2500-$5000 depending on the model.
How much dose it coast cause us poor hunters can't afford them?
Lot's of different price levels. Affording things is all about priorities.
@@BowhuntingRoad not if you don't make enough to afford it
That's about priorities too. You can complain that you can't afford something or you can go find a way to pay for it. I have found that most people who complain that they can't afford something are just making choices that prevent them for affording something. You probably have a car payment. It's all about priorities.
@@BowhuntingRoad yor wrong sir and respectfully the prices of these bows are ridiculously high weather you want to admit to it or not.
Of course they are. So is everything else. Have you bought groceries lately?

Superlative Idea; Now for charging those batteries, please.!! also 3 wheeler for stability, too.??
Raise the seat or something...you're hunkied across the handle bars for C-sake!!!
Ill stick with my sidexside , like i really want to pedal assit my machine lol sorry but that bicycle and hunting shouldn't even be the same sentence together lol
its amazing wot 1hp can pull on these ebikes an adult male a trailer and a deer haha
Hunning
to damn exspensive
Yea give me a quad all day
You cannot use a quad where these are being used that's the point. Or one of the many points.
why r you pedaling so much, wouldn't that make you sweat as much as walking?? I thought it was electric?
I'm using the electric assist, it makes pedaling easy and helps cover a lot of ground while saving on battery and keeping exertion to a bare minimum.
Shut up and take my money!
999 likes one more for 1000!
No fakin animal left on earth from those guys
Lot whatchu talking bout
@@Thrillowatt
He dunno.....
Everyone talks about how great it is that now we can access those great Hunting spots that are hard to get to. LMAO they won't be great anymore because everyone can get there. Wake up people.
steel salad well not everyone has $2300 for a bike
Sold your soul for that $20...
No idea what you are talking about.
would you please, please get abike that fits you. Yours is way too smal! it must feel like running the ironman in gumboots.
Says no motorized vehicles.
Electric motor is a motorized vehicle.
no..
www.iloveebikes.com/Distributorfiles/FEDregulation.pdf
Deer hunting is a legal I'm the police so on deer hunting
You should arrest yourself for being drunk and disorderly.
It's an ELECTRIC bike, you are reviewing. Stop pedaling if you want to show it off in all its glory!
I use the electric pedal assist more than anything.
BowhuntingRoad I see that it looks easier to pedal, with electric assist. But the questions in some, if not most viewers minds are; 1. Can the motor not handle your weight in rough/off-road terrain?
2. Does pedaling help the battery last longer?
3. Is the electric motor just to make pedaling easier? In other words, I got this expensive hunting aide for off-road travel, but I still have to pedal it all the time.
I don't think most viewers are asking those questions because I answered them in the video. Watch it again and listen more carefully.
If you need more details here is a link to the website for this bike. www.quietkat.com/products/fatkat/
@@OdeeOz 1 it can
2 yes
3 u can use pedal assist or full E power..
Poormans 4wheeler lol lol sorry but thats just stupid, it will never take off with serious big game hunters!!
Jim Shockey uses the Quiet Kat bike. Nuff said about serious hunters not using it.
I am a serious big game hunter and considering one of these bikes for accessing gated off national forest roads, which you couldn't get a 4 wheeler around the gate. I also want to shoot grouse and wood ducks right off the bike while riding, I have to look into the law in my state regarding this.
Don't take a job as a prophet; these are selling like crazy and several new companies have started marketing them. It's a hot item among serious big game hunters.
This comment didn’t age well
Love animals, don't murder them.
Hunting is the best way to love animals. Hunting pays for wildlife conservation with the side benefit that we get to love eating them as well!
Does this guy even hunt for any deer or any other animal for that goes . I will tell you bowhunteringRoad . A freaking deer can smell a human 300 yards away . They can hear sounds just as far . A man walking or ant other sound the deer will look to see what it is and then run . It is their nature to do so . So stop putting a bunch of crap to us hunters . I hunt , I hunt and fish for food only . I dont disgrace the animal and hang the poor thing on a wall . I give thanks to GOD before I hunt or fish and I give thanks after I hunt or fish . I dont expect GOD to bring the animal to be killed that day . I dont get mad over it . It is GODS will that I get one for the year or catch some fish to eat . I dont go after that big Bass or that 45 lbs Flat Head . I fish what ever gets on my line . If that would be Blue Gill or some Sun fish even a old turtle would do for a meal . Anything GOD sets before me if anything will do just fine with me . There is one good thing about Electric Bikes for hunting that is getting to the hunt sight easier and a little faster and a bit discreet in getting there . Then your going threw woods during hunting with out the orange protective gear . A good way to get shot .
"This guy" is one the most respected hunters with 45 years of bowhunting experience all over North America.
Yes, you could spend thousands of dollars on an eBike ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxUiL0GnyDjP32RJdd660sP8mZk4CRLTCJ and get something much higher quality. However, if you're looking for a basic model to try out eBiking this is a great choice. The assembly is easy as far as bikes go (took about an hour for me to do, I'm not an expert). All tools needed are included. I added the plastic mud guards you see and a more comfortable seat. The other reviews are correct that you're probably going to want a better seat (Giddy Up! Bike Seat is what I got - super comfortable). The battery easily handles a 2-4 hour ride if you add some of your own pedal power. I haven't even gotten it up to top speed yet - it is very fast. Components are not top of the line, but decent for the price and work just fine. It works great on dirt roads and singletrack and pavement although too heavy to do tricks or any serious technical mountain biking. I'm looking forward to using it a lot over the summer. Tons of fun!
yeah yeah lest see it pull you and a deer up a logging rd like about two miles ????????
That would be easy compared to many of the places I have done this!!!
@@BowhuntingRoad please let us see then i would most likely buy one
