    2015 E350 here. Even as a former Technician, doing the Spark Plugs is a decent task. But... calm and careful WILL get it done. A DIY person can save a BOATLOAD of money. I encountered a problem performing the work. Out of all the tools I have, I did not have the unique '12 point' Spark Plug Socket. Not a big deal, we all love tools so I ordered one. I forget the brand but it was not a cheap China. It fit the plugs to remove the factory originals but did not fit the Bosch replacements. They would get stuck bad. Cost me a day's wait. My wife borrowed her Shop Formans Snap On one and I was able finish the work on her car. The tolerances were off just enough. Crazy...

    • @fcpeuro
      @fcpeuro  3 роки тому +2

      Thats wild GMAN S , we haven't run into that problem with the CTA socket we sell or the Bosch plugs, but sometimes the slightest bit of being off in tolerances can create a headache!

    Given that removing the plenum is necessary for so many procedures, how about a good video on it. The very few that are on YT are not good at all. I know of many folks (myself included) that don't order parts and don't try this DYI just because there is not enough instruction available. If you put your usual quality to it, it will most likely be the best video out there on that procedure. And while you are at it, you could change the spark plugs. Better yet, you could also replace the timing chain tensioners and install that oil check valve for it. Thank you for considering it.

    Good review. Just one comment. I did not remove plastic intake part, since I wanted to limit a number of electrical connectors being disconnected (they are fragile). It is a little bit pain, especially a back spark plug on the driver side, but it is possible. You mentioned that it is a good idea replace connectors when replacing spark plugs. What connectors did have on your mind?

  • @JettaRedIII
    @JettaRedIII 3 місяці тому

    This video is mis-titled as it is applicable across all platforms that use the M276. It should be noted that the turbo (3.0L) version is MUCH simpler to change the spark plugs on since the intake plenum does not get removed. Also, you cannot overstate the importance of using the correct spark plugs and that they are indexed correctly.

São 126.000 quilômetros até então, farei a troca das velas agora! Veículo apresenta uma vibração entre 1500 e 2200 rpm mais notável em 4 e 5 marcha, aparentemente vem do cambio, os coxins foram verificados e estão bons, algumas pessoas levantaram suspeitas do conversor de torque que me fez verificar através daquela janela em baixo do carro e constatei que existe um parafuso lá que está espanado! Foi feita a troca do fluido na autorizada com 90.000kms.
    Outro detalhe, esse diagnóstico foi feito com o carro no elevador no modo manutenção, colocamos ele engrenado e constatamos a vibração que comentei acima.

    • @glasser2819
      @glasser2819 3 роки тому

      if you're not on the clock working on your own engine, removing the plastic plenum gives you easy access to plugs & coils plus the leaky PCV breather that sends engine oil in the intake to create intake valves deposits... It's better to do a good job than wait for growing issues
      Oil type used in this engine is critical to prevent harm to cam-phasers.
      The fancy oil seals have been made sensitive to the acidity of old oil.
      *It's the failed EGR that pressurizes the whole engine to make oil leak reliably out if every gasket and seal*

    • @glasser2819
      @glasser2819 3 роки тому

      big power loss from what..??? (PCM commanding the networked alternator to drain the primary AGM battery?)
      Rattle comes from... the chain tensioner but it is caused by the worn out passenger intake phaser!

    • @tempchannel2012
      @tempchannel2012 3 роки тому +2

      @@glasser2819 big power loss from a popped out dip stick, my guess is that it disturbs the vacuum near the oil pump and crankcase. The seals fail on the dip sticks and they'll pop out, I've have two cars with M276 engines, had to replace dip sticks in both. The clunking noise on cold startups come through the dip stick tube.

      Replace the PCV System that should keep crankcase under vacuum and not let the engine blowby gases pop the deeptick under pressure.

So, 2000 dollars for recalibration of airbag module, 2000 dollars for sparkplugs and complete installation and 2000 dollars for Front Seals. 6K on a 10K car.
