Love this tune, takes me back to 2000/20001 when life was way less stressful and the only dramas were where to go on a sat night! Judge always to play it as his first tune at 5pm on his Saturday show. Great Times!
You could always tell Darren was classically trained. The harmonies and chord progressions used in his classic productions always struck me as just sounding really mature and intelligent; pure ear candy. They were a cut above what could be heard from other trance artists around at the time imo.
Darrens music has been a big part of my life also, an old MOS cd with the theme on it i use to cane at 13, at the time i just thought ‘jurgen vries’ was a mad dutch man who made great music, i discovered most of the music through radio 1 and others on the weekend radio shows, a couple of years later with dt8 winter i didnt know it was the same guy at the time and it just goes to show how diverse his music is. A true legend.
Holy Mother what a Legend, my kind of person. Been listening to his music over the last 20 years under the different pseudonyms never knowing it was the same guy!.
I'm sure it will make Darren smile, but the best Angelic track is the unreleased dub version of "It's my turn". I remember hearing it on Radio 1 (played by Jules) and it's absolutely awesome. Ever since then the vocal version sounds clunky and I've been looking everywhere to find the dub version. But as Darren confirmed - it's never been released. Thanks Judge Jules! Luckily there are clips on YT to give everyone the taster of what the music's is really like without Amanda's bits :) Perhaps Darren can find a way to share his original if it's never been released...

I too only just learned Angelic was Darren😱. Mind blown!!!! Do You Believe is my fav of that artist name. I knew most of his other names and tracks and have those. And without rambling on too much, one thing that is apparent in the breakdowns is how musically tight they are ie the pads complement the leads perfectly, it's like next level stuff as he has all the musicality trained into him. Makes such a difference. I also loved his work with Jono Grant from Anjuna. Nocturnal Creatures is a great track, both mixes! But the old school Anjuna fan in me gives the Jono mix the edge but not by much! Of all the years listening to trance the one thing i never progressed was producing despite trying on various DAW platforms. It always seemed a minefield that a DAW didn't have enough trance type samples without the meed to find external plug ins (or i am just that sh*t i couldn't discover how to tweak sounds to the way i heard them in my head 😂) i think I'd absolutely be like a kid in the best toyshop ever to sit in a studio with Darren! He has that aura of knowledge about him and i bet he'd kick my ass into gear to begin producing properly. 🙌

So, in terms of the whole Sunscream - Change situation was concerned. Am I right that he remixed the track, but used only the vocal from it. Sunscream rejected the remix. Then Darren changed the vocals and then released it as ‘It’s My Turn’ and then presumably got sued?
BDT Trance No. They wanted it, but then wanted to change what I had done. It gets much more complicated and to be honest was a bitter experience which thankfully led to better things.
Darren Tate, wow I didn’t expect a direct response from yourself, thank you! It is a shame that you had to deal with something like that so early on but I’m glad you moved past it. Furthermore, I’m sure that I speak for everyone here when I say I’m incredibly glad the track still got released, along with all of your subsequent releases.
