Amazing that you’re still releasing videos. I found your channel about 8 years ago when I needed to do a project for school. Now I’m nearly finished my PhD. How time flies
Yep... I'm getting old but still at it. I do a lot of video tutorials now as well as the live drawing workshops. When you get that "silly PhD thing out of the way and want to get back to drawing you may want to check it out here :) www.jdhillberrytutorials.com/
Here's the link for more info about the live drawing workshop: www.jdhillberrytutorials.com/workshops.html and click here for my drawing tutorials, supplies and other live drawing workshop opportunities: www.jdhillberrytutorials.com/
Make sure you check out the pencil drawing tutorial subjects available. I’d love to help you learn to get the realism in your drawings you’ve been wanting. Visit: www.jdhillberrytutorials.com/tutorials.html
Is there a chance these live workshop tutorials will be available as video tutorials in the future? Maybe film them as a classroom lecture of sorts and put them online at a later date? Or is this something that is completely off the table?
I've had a lot of people request that I record this live workshop for people who cannot attend. We've experimented with that and unfortunately, it doesn't work very well. The experiment resulted in an extremely inferior product compared to the tutorials I record in my studio. It was impossible to get good video of my class demonstrations which are projected on to a large screen. Plus, I spend so much time in the live classes giving my students individual attention, it would create a lot of down time for people watching online. Not to mention all the sound issues because of the large room. However, I do have a solution... My Realistic Drawing with Light, Texture, and Contrast Video Tutorial contains many of the same concepts as my Live Texture Workshop. I explain how to identify the “essence” of particular subjects, how light effects texture, as well as the techniques I use to create smooth, rough and many textures in between. It’s a philosophy and a system for how to go about identifying and rendering the textures. Here's the link for it if you're interested: realistic-drawing-techniques.jdhillberry.com/sales-page
Would love to attend one if your workshops JD. Not possible though. Way down at the bottom of the world. NZ. Bought one of your packages including your book a little while ago. Refer to it constantly and watch your videos. A video on a workshop would be invaluable as well.
I have a more in depth tutorial that covers many of these same concepts for creating realistic drawings that you may be interest in here: realistic-drawing-techniques.jdhillberry.com/light-texture-and-contrast
