It’s a shame that the doctor talks about the ‘weight threshold’ with anorexia being a key difference between bulimia and anorexia. NICE actually recently removed the weight threshold in it’s diagnostic criteria for anorexia if I’m not mistaken because predominantly it is thoughts and thought patterns that characterise the illness and although people are usually underweight anyone who has suffered from anorexia knows it is not always about your body looking a certain way- it’s about a feeling.

Really disappointing to hear the primary difference between anorexia and bulimia being weight. That’s not true. While you can have binging and purging with Anorexia, it’s about the frequency. Many people with Anorexia don’t binge at all. Bulimia is characterised by the binging and purging. While there is a weight limit on a diagnosis of AN, you can have OSFED or Atypical Anorexia if you meet all the other criteria for Anorexia but not the weight threshold. You wouldn’t be diagnosed with Bulimia unless you meet THOSE criteria. So he’s just wrong.

disappointed with his only response being the weight difference. him saying that is actively harming sufferers and could trigger many to push themselves to be even more sick and unwell

Glad for Dianne to talk about her struggles but (for me as a viewer) I see in her vlogs that she is is super strict with her trainings, like really really strict. Workouts, sauna, cold plunges, super healthy smoothies with mixed in supplements. I have a feeling she is getting slimmer and slimmer:( Wishing her all the best - she seems to be such a sunshine❤

  • @hennaemaenaen4324

But she still doesn't eat the same food as she cooks for Joe so I hope she's not struggling anymore

This supposed ‘expert’ is anything but. He really said the difference is the weight threshold which is no longer part of the diagnostic criteria under NICE guidelines… perpetuating misinformation and promoting harmful stereotypes. This Morning really think this is an expert???

Dianne is just like listening to myself. I am 2 years into recovery and the best thing I have ever done is to get help. It took so much strength to get better, but it is a daily battle against anorexia, but one I am I determined to continue winning.

Couldn’t be prouder of Dianne, she’s been through so much and is the biggest inspiration! ❤

All the love to Diane, but again, EDs have been shown to be determined by physical appearance. The photos weren't necessary to show - it will have simply either triggered some or disillusioned others.

Why don’t they ever speak about diabulimia. It’s a massive problem and barely an resources ‼️‼️‼️ pls boost this comment it needs awareness.

Well Diane for talking about your eating disorder. Pround of you and will help many others out there who are struggling with the same thing ❤❤

‘Eating disorders don’t discriminate’ but Dr Chucks emphatically focuses on the ‘weight threshold’ for anorexia. Very disappointing. The weight requirement for anorexia diagnosis was removed from the latest DSM. It is now widely recognised that anorexia presents in people of any weight, instead being characterised primarily by behavioural and cognitive symptoms, along with weight loss (at any weight) and other physical symptoms such as fatigue and nutritional deficiencies. Keep up Dr Chucks, supposed expert. Stop triggering people with eating disorders and discouraging them from getting help. I had anorexia when I was underweight, I still have anorexia right now at a healthy weight.
