    Would using 3 strand rope make much a difference? Love this design🤩

    • @SimplyInspiredbySheena
      @SimplyInspiredbySheena  2 роки тому +1

      💙 Depends on the manufacturer. In my experience I’ve noticed 3 strand to be a stronger more dense rope, the added bulkiness and texture makes it more difficult to work with for pixel macrame…however it’s totally fine for the filler cords (which I’ve used in other pixel tutorials of mine). It’s just the working cords for the actual design tends to be too busy looking whereas single strand/yarn/t-shirt yarn have a more flexible texture to wrap around the filler cords
      (Hope that makes sense)
      My suggestion is to give it a try on a smaller sample piece and see how you feel. Some 3 strand cottons are really soft, my supplier isn’t so it’s whatever works best for you 🤗💙

    I love your work and I have followed you for a long time. I'm hoping you can help me. I am having a hard time scaling my pieces down. I've just been sketching them on graph paper but my grid is so small my pieces come out really big. What is the easiest way to do these? Thank you so much.

    • @SimplyInspiredbySheena
      @SimplyInspiredbySheena  10 місяців тому

      💙 figuring out the size of a pixel is tricky…there’s a couple options
      The first option is to take an existing grid pattern and instead of using all rope and tying your knots around two cords, use yarn and tie your knots around 1 cord. It’s the same amount of work but your final product will be smaller
      The second option is unfortunately redesigning and a bit of trail and error…so for example what I do is take a dowel that is already the width I prefer, attach my larks head knots on there and that will determine how many squares I need for the width of my pattern. Because I’ve done this often I already know that for a 12 inch wooden dowel I can comfortably fit 22 larks head knots, which means when I design a pattern the grid can either be 22 squares across (if I’m tying my knots around 2 cords) or 44 squares across (if I’m tying around 1 cord). Then I design my pattern to fit those parameters
      I hope that helps 🤗

    • @SimplyInspiredbySheena
      @SimplyInspiredbySheena  11 місяців тому

      💙 I work mostly off of a macrame board and use T-pins, which is what’s shown in this video (you can find these items on Amazon)
      The other way I like to work off of is a rolling rack meant for clothing (I buy mine from Walmart) and S-hooks which can either be found at your local hardware store or if you’re lucky can be found at the dollar store, which is where I buy mine

    My cat is coming out a little chunky, not sure what I am doing wrong 😅

    • @SimplyInspiredbySheena
      @SimplyInspiredbySheena  2 роки тому +1

      💙 haha chunky is cute! However if that’s not the look you were going for pay attention to your tension and the shape of your vertical double half hitch knots.
      Each square on the grid represents a VDHH knot which means you want each knot you tie to be square. If your tension is too tight your knots will be more squat than square resulting in a more squat/chunky image…and if your tension is too loose your knots will be long and the image will be more stretched or leaner looking
      Hope that helps 🤗
