I am currently studying at NMU 2024 and came across this masterpiece, I have goosebumps and I have watched it more than 5 times.❤
I was part of this, and I STILL get shivers EVERY SINGLE TIME I watch it.

I am going to light a candle with his picture by it in rememberance of him. He was one of my heroes. One of my lifes dream was to meet Nelson Mandela! I'm sad I could never meet him but I will celebrate his life tonight by lighting a candle in his memory! I wish you well on your journey! You are among the great ones who have also done much for human rights!

This is really beautiful NMMU, with all that is happening in our country I really wish I could use this song for a greater good project that will help promote "UNITY"... More than anything thank you for doing this project and sharing with us as a reminder of how beautiful our country is!!!

Hi @Barbara Hallman, no the sheet music is not available since the medley was compiled by and for the NMMU choir. We put it together ourselves, and also worked out the choreography, so we thus have nothing on paper, as is usually the case with traditional medleys. Regards.

As a Welshman and as an ex member of the Welsh Guards Choir (Bottom Bass), I loved to be a small part of such a beautiful sound. Later, I saw in London a musical called 'Ipi Tombi' and was so blown away by the sound of South Africa I eventually saw the show 13 times! Since then. The early 70's, I have loved the sound and this choir are outstanding. PS if you want to see a brilliant A3 drawing of Nelson Mandela go to natashasportraits on Instagram and leave a comment....Winnie Mandela loved it!

I love the performance! I am a school teacher in Vancouver, Canada and I am doing an arrangement of the song for a school choir but I can't figure out what is the chant in the beginning after "Eitha - Ta". Could anyone help. Thanks
+Rossi Tzonkov its ''ngu left ngu right (hawu!) nyamazana (hawu hawu!)'' repeat..... it does not have a literal translation to English but means something like left foot, right foot (hawu "just a sound"') and it repeats on and on, the chant is something that was sung during 'protest'' so to speak and became part of the people of South Africa................ i hope that helps, 3 months later lol
