This is only the 3rd episode of Would I Lie To You that we have now seen. And is still the ONLY British Panel Show we have watched. This episode was SHOCKING!! We didn't know WILTY could get better each time but this one shows it's full of surprises! We LOVE this show! Every single person is absolutely hilarious on the panel. We love seeing David Mitchell getting upset and frustrated, it's probably our favorite part. And in this episode, he really shows his emotion! This is sure to make you laugh whether you have or haven't seen it before. Thank you United Kingdom for such a great new show for us! We'll continue to hold off watching any without you, even though it's REALLY HARD! Thank you SO much for watching! This was my mum's favourite show on TV, especially Lee Mack. She died last June aged 90 and I always think about her almost crying with laughter at him when I watch it.
What makes this show work is that in real life Lee, David, and Rob are good friends and you can see this in the way they are so at ease with teasing each other.
He's great when Bob Mortimer is on his team too. He keeps up with him. His joke about Bob Mortimer's names (I won't specify more than that) in the "Bob Mortimer frightening the locals and ordered to leave town" episode was brilliant.
The lady on David Mitchell's team there was comedy actress Diane Morgan. As well as all her usual acting roles, she also has a character named: Philomena Cunk, who is portrayed as an interviewer and current affairs presenter. The character first appeared between 2013 and 2015 in a segment on "Charlie Brooker's Weekly Wipe" after which she starred in "Cunk on Christmas", "Cunk on Britain" and "Cunk on Earth" (for which she received the BAFTA for 'Best Female Comedy Performance'. In each of these, the laughs come mainly from her interviews of famous people, or respected experts, who seem to be totally taken in by her interview questions. You should take a look at examples of one (or all) of these. I guarantee she'll have you laughing hysterically!
Rhod Gilbert, Bob Mortimer and James Acaster were all SO funny on Would I Lie to You. You should react to some of their appearances, you won’t regret it!
David Mitchell also did a sitcom called Upstart Crow, where he plays William Shakespeare, and the trials he goes through with his family, actors and rivals.
They actually have a round in the show called "this is my" , were each of the 3 members of the team has a story of which 1 connects to the guest, that the other team then has to then guess which is true. Those rounds are normally 10-15 minutes, so you get to enjoy more! One of my favourites, and a pretty popular one is "Edward: Lee Mack's hoax husband? Robert Rinder’s crush? Denise Lewis’ car carrier? [HD][CC]"
@@rerenaissance7487 it has happened on another round (which I wont say for spoilers sake) that I know for definite and I feel like atleast one other occasion. But out of 150 episodes and multiple rounds each show, it is incredibly rare and just done as a wind up
If you've never seen antly of David Mitchell's comedy, you really need to check out "That Mitchell & Webb Look" - my favourite sketch from there is the "Are we the baddies?" sketch.
I have seen every single episode of Would I Lie To You? It is my go-to show for cheering up! David and Lee are fantastic! David's story about clinging to a diving board is a particular favorite. James Acaster's episodes are personal favorites too!
I work providing IT services to primary schools in the UK, I used to work at the Junior School his children went to. The Year 6's had a project where they had to name their who their Superheroes were and why the meant so much to them. They were then put up on the wall in the IT suite. Most of the kids did the usual spiderman, superman and the like One stood out and it was from Arlo McKillop. and it read " My Dad is Lee Mack and he is my hero because he named his TV production company after me."
He DIDN'T say he got the "invite" on the DAY of the wedding. You need to watch "8 out of 10 cats does countdown". It's 2 different shows " 8 out of 10 cats" and " countdown" mashed together with hilarious results. Hosted by Jimmy Carr. It has comics playing against each other in NUMBERS ( maths) and WORDS (scrabble) rounds.
Lee Mack is from my home town of Southport,Northwest England. He used to be a stablehand for one of the most famous steeplechase race horses on the planet,Red Rum back in the 70s (Grand National at Aintree Liverpool)
They changed it to true last minute as that was the way the joke was heading. Lee whispered into his mike to the producers "change it" just before the reveal.
So glad you’re watching more WILTY, it’s a gold mine. Set my alarm for the premiere but slept through it as I woke up in the middle of the night with my asthma 😣
Back when I was a teenager, I was friends with Le Mack's mum, Christine. In fact, she lived around the corner from me. And, I knew his grandad Joe, who was in and out of our house back in the 50s.
Please react to rob's cuddle jumper on would I lie to you. It's so funny to see david mitchell literally crying laughing like you've never seen before.
Lee Mack tends to do one's which are impossible to believe, but he's so entertaining that you watch it anyway!! There are several examples, but the one you might like is the one "Mouse on a Skateboard"
this is the only time they’ve ever swapped answers at the end, i’m pretty sure it was discussed before with producers and lee - i’ve seen the show live before and there’s only one button to press!
James Acaster and the cabbage prank or the one where James Acaster tries to drown himself. This guy is absolutley hilarious and, I think, one of David Mitchell's favourite guests. You can see the delight in David's face whenever he questions James.
Acaster - Nemesis, didn't get the present he wanted, firefighter and Sleeping in a bush. Henning Wehn - Missing person Interpol. Bob Mortimer - All of them.
So glad you are loving this show as much as we do. I have never seen anyone else press the button twice like this but it was very funny. Good idea to react to one episode a month 👍❤️
@The Natasha & Debbie Show, LOVE your reviews and how much you appreciate our British culture, countryside, etc. About 15 years ago I went to a Live at the Apollo recording where Lee was compere and did a stand-up routine and was brilliant the whole show, I thought I was going to die, I was laughing so much. WILTY is an awesome show, many [not all] of the guests are highly regarded comedians at the top of their game, many named in the comments before mine: as broadcast on national tv this show has little/no swear words. Keep up the brilliant work💕💕
I'ma go out on a limb here and suggest something that isn't a panel show but that is very much a must watch for me: Taskmaster. The first series is 6 episodes long, it's quite short, so it's easy to see if that would be your thing. It's funny af and the cast is composed of 5 comedians or TV personalities, so you'll probably see a lot of comedians and people from Would I Lie to You on it as well. Lee Mack himself was on a later series, but I strongly advise for you to start from the beginning of Taskmaster, as there's lore to be learned 😂 the show's official UA-cam channel posts the episodes free to watch. I cannot recommend it highly enough 🙌🏻
Lee Mack did appear as a guest along beside major A list celebrities on the Graham Norton Show. He's also a World Championship Darts winner. Since you both fancy David Mitchell, you can enjoy his genius for comedy on his older shows That Mitchell And Webb Look and Peep Show. And they've both appeared at times on 8 Out Of 10 Cats Does Countdown.
“I got an invite for the wedding today”. It’s a brilliant example of high & low context language. Americans are literal. To a Brit that means I got an invite for the wedding which took place today, not, I got the invite today for a wedding today. I love it.
Would I lie to you is absolutely genius. Everyone that goes on the show is talked to by researchers a few weeks before the show . No one that is in front of the camera knows what is on the card before they pick it up. ....that why everything is genuine. And that's why it works. Really surprised that there isn't a US version.
Outnumbered and Motherland are situational comedies about real British life! Very funny. Mentioning it because the girl in the red top sitting beside David is in Motherland and is hilarious!
Lee Mack is one of Britain's best loved comedians. He and David are perfect foils for each other and feed off each others natural wit and talent for impromptu humour. If you want a hard quiz, you should watch David's wife, Victoria Cohen Mitchell only connect, also she has does an episode with David on should I lie to you that's funny😂
I would really recommend a WILTY compilation of Lee Mack’s impressively quick wit. It’s on UA-cam somewhere called “Mack Speed”. But a shorter version example of his incredible speed is in a clip when Lee Mack talks about his keys.
There is sometimes a round on WILTY called possession, where instead of telling the truth/lie verbally, a possession is taken out of a box and the person has to claim be it the truth or lie that they have some association to it. On one occasion Rob Brydon the presenter does this round with his 'cuddle jumper'.

Philomena Cunk is the best, especially as a history buff. Cunk on Britain is my favourite, but they're both amazing
Great suggestion! 👍
Aye, you should definitely watch Philomena Cunk!
I love Lee Mack. He’s SO quick. You’d never win an argument with him 😂
He is so quick that even if I had won the argument I would walk away thinking I hadn't!
Lee Mack - I made my daughter cry. Brilliant!
