I'm coming 57 years old and I will always remember this lovely tune it reminds me of my mum while my father was in the army Bring back some memories John crumley
My Mum played this a lot when I was younger, maybe 9 or 10. I haven't hurt it for a long time. Sadly my Mum passed away a couple of weeks ago and I am listening to some of her favourite music. Heartbroken. I miss you mum xxx
Was listening to Welcome home whilst scrolling down the letters. So sorry to read your mum passed away, its good to hold on to good memories and songs like this. God bless Michelle
Listening to this today in memory of my father 9 yrs since he took his place with my ancestors. I can remember him and my mother singing this together when I was small😊 rest easy old man I'll see you again one day
I was 12 when this was in the pop charts. First crush at school and I couldn’t wait for weekends to be over to see him again! Music takes you right back. Wow.
My mum came back from holidays from seeing her family in Ireland and dad had us put on this record as she arrived home, that was in the 70s and they’re both gone decades ago now ❤
This song reminds me of the time I started working on a furniture removal truck for the GLC in the Summer of 1973. Everyone in London seemed to be singing this at that time.
I always heard my mum or dad singing this song back in the 70s..reminds me of a lot..they are no longer here..& hearing this song makes me teary eyed..soo so miss them🙏❤️
Its now 45 years old and i still play this song people age and die but music lives on.a great song ive always loved it .i dedicate this to people who are at war or somewhere away from home .Godbless you 💖✌🕊🦋🙏🌹😘✌✊🤗😘👰🤰🤱🙋♀️🙋♂️👫👋
Lennie was a great bloke, used to collect antiques, they used to play in the fountain pub in Mile End Road before they had hits, really nice genuine people
@@pastorbri My Brother was manager of the pub at the time, had some lovely evenings in there, Lennie was a funny bloke told some great stories and was just a nice genuine man, Dianne was lovely too, and would have a drink and a laugh with everyone
Wow.Beautiful.Never heard of them, but the melody has been spinning in my head since I found it here.It should have stayed on the charts longer. Thanks a lot for uploading
I loved Peters and Lee when I first remembered playing my mums records when I was 4, when I was a little child this was my favourite song and Oeters and Lee were my favourite artist
Brings back memories for me. I was working in London in the 70’s when this came at the agency that handled them. Saw them at The Talk of the Town and got an invite backstage after the concert. Now old but still remember it like yesterday.
Remember this from Family Favourites on a Sunday lunchtime on what was left of the Light Programme with Jean Challis....welcoming home serving Armed Forces personnel.
This song has been buzzing in my head for weeks now & finally I have found it! You know how it goes, you know how it sounds & you know some of the lyrics, but just not enough, so here it is February 22, 2024 & I have rediscovered it!
This track reminds me of my Uncle Albert, and how not long after he got a new-fangled, bees' knees, stereo record player, he had a huge brain haemorrhage. He still liked to listen to the record player but couldn't play it due to the illness that befell him for the rest of his life. He died about a year after this song came out and got to number one.
There was a time long ago without hitler ,korea and the vietnam war beyond any worries and without us that when peter&lee could fill every answer how to be lucky without any answer.
In Football manager 2012, I signed Davide Petrucci for Torquay United. Years later I sold him for a few million, and it broke my heart but the club progressed with the financial rewards, but I felt an emptiness in my soul. 5 seasons later, he was released by Empoli, and I have just brought him home. This song played as he drove up to the training ground. He got out of his car and stood there. We said nothing and just stared at each other. The volume increased. We both broke down and wept.
It still is and there is still great talent about if you can get past all the inexplicably popular garbage and the immature idiocy of the juvenile radio presenters. Rap is on the decline at long last. The world becoming a nastier place by the day has not made talent extinct.
My Mum many years ago before she passed played this song every time I came to visit her...bless her soul and Peters & Lee for such a great memory.
your lovley mum would be proud of you mate god bless you ☯️🙏
Will always remember being kicked out my home and going round my grandads, knocked on the door and he sang this to me......God I miss him
Noel Blake Hello from 7 years later
