I used Attract-Mode for my laptop before - I turned my 32bit laptop as a small-gaming machine with some custom collections and stuff like browser games & tiger handhelds. All-n'-all, a excellent tutorial on a frontend you can transform and create on :)
Praise the Lord (or whoever)... finally a super helpful, well explained video on Attract Mode. No mumble mouths, background music, crappy camera work or someone who doesn't know how to adjust their volume. Thank you sir!!!
what you said at the start of the video is exactly what ive been saying for over a week. scraper doesnt work in emustation for windows at all. im trying this later for sure. ok i tried it and wow. im getting rid of emulationstation now lol. i can use the emulators i already have, scraping works easy, no text files to edit. super easy. i only made it halfway through your video before i figured it out. freakin awesome video man. you got a sub here for sure
Hi see if anyone can help me with this frontend. I can't run the games and it's not a problem of configure, simply that even the default key assigned as selection does not run the games. I tried to assign another key to it, even change it manually within the configuration file but there is no way to solve the problem ... Only need to be able to run the games. All controls respond correctly except that specific action. Thank you so much!
great video but i cant get system selection to come up when you instructed to go to startup mode and change it it only has show last selection, launch last game, show displays menu i cant see any option of system select can you help
Unfortunately that I used for that video has long been sold, but I did make a video on emulation station that's kind of of similar to this one. It's been a while. But I'll make a video in the future on this topic again.
i prefer using the actual programs on stand alone especially MAME, but is there a way to make all these run in full screen mode? i saw all your emulators ran in window mode.
Wow I literally learned the ins and outs of Hyperspin+RL last year. . . I can operate the whole damned thing by modifying XMLs or creating them. Then I find this which does a lot of that crap automatically and more smoothly as far as I can tell so far, it seems way smoother than HS.
where do you find the wheel pics from? been looking for a wheel pic for festers quest on nes since last night. gonna end up making my own sooner or later. is there a website that has them?
Hey very cool video, is there a way to configure all controls for all game sin MAME as i need it for maximus arcade and I dont want to have to exit and configure every single game before I play it and also for final burn alpha same problem. Thank you and happy new year.
Oh holy shit wow im just looking for a setup guide for attract mode here and BAM it's JAKE HEY JAKE ITS TONE FROM FACILITIES lol love the vid thanks for the help👍
No, usually when it comes to BIO's disk based systems are the ones to look out for. PSX, PS2, and Dreamcast are ones that come from the top of my head.
Thanks Maximum Tips but i have some serious problem that everything i open the game on attract mode the emaulator not fullscreen i have to click on view then switch to full screen , can you help me that ?
Just saw your video. I have on my arcade64 ( mame) all the artwork, marquee and such. Can i link them directly to attract mode without using scrape service. Thanks in advance
@@MaximumTips Well it's really going to bring my arcade cabinet to the next level. :D I was recently gifted the complete catalog of Sega, Nes, and Snes roms and I need a way to give people a simple GUI to access them on the set up. This seems to be the solution. So, Thank you again!
Is it possible to setup attract-mode in orangepi pc plus? I took it from a retrostone console, but since the lcd as so bad, I decided to take it away and create an arcade machine. I would like to still use this board, otherwise I will have to trough it away and buy a RPI4
Don't make the mistake I did. I was lucky enough to find someone online who has packaged exactly the same 100 NES roms, 100 Genesis Roms, 100 SNES roms, and PS1 roms that I happen to own into single legal download - saving me the time and effort of getting all the carts out of storgage and dumping the roms myself. Unfortunately they'd numberedeach of the roms for each system from 1 to 100 so when it came to scraping the artwork from thegamesdb, Attract Mode didn't recognise the titles - I didn't realise this until I'd done the whole lot - forcing me to not only rename every single title by hand, but start the whole process all over again more or less from scratch.
Hello was hoping anybody could please help I have Attract Mode on my desktop with everything ready to go but being still pretty new to this I can't get the right Executable & Roms locations? I know there ending in \Emulators\RetroArch etroarch.exe and Roms es\ I have been putting C:\Users\Hugh - Kieran\Desktop\ATTRACT MODE\Emulators\RetroArch etroarch.exe & C:\Users\Hugh - Kieran\Desktop\ATTRACT MODE\Roms es\ any help on how the right layout should be from the desktop would be such a big appreciation. Thank You
You should probably mention that biz hawk is 64bit. As a lot of people may be doing this on old un used hardware they may be lead down a wrong path here.
I know this is super late to answer. All the same the answer is; not only does it work with Linux, it was originally developed for Linux. I'm currently using it on Debian Buster, but you can use Attract Mode on absolutely every version of Linux. If you don't know how to compile software, use Ubuntu, or any of its derivatives, such as Mint, Kubuntu, Xubuntu etc. Compiling Attract Mode from source was not easy. It took me about a half dozen attempts to finally get it to compile. But well worth it; the recent version of AM is even more user-friendly than what's shown in this video. My only complaint is that it's become so easy-to-use it's difficult to find tutorials on how to use it, because so much of it has become automated.
Maximum Tips. Thank you for the reply. I guess It was just a coincide that they made something named Maximum media center and you run a channel called Maximum Tips that has covered how to build a HTPC. That channel has a sweet HTPC even though its from 2013.

Glad your problem was solved.
Thank you so much for this tutorial; i couldnt get scrapped artwork to work, so i did it all manually. this tutorial was extremely helpful
Hi, I did everything right but the games are not launching when bizhawk opens, any idea what to do? Maybe some other command argument?
i started using attract mode, and I love it. great video
Thanks for sharing the video. Straight to the point. AM is definitely much easier to work with than ES.
Np, I'm working on an even better version.
@@MaximumTips Great. Would you please share with us whenever possible?

Thanks for your video, I m working on a vertical build, I hope it will be nice with attract mode.
Fantastic tutorial, but the system selector at the end wouldnt
work?
Really nice job!
Could load emulators. Could load games. They play. No pictures or Videos. Please help.
Is there a video of yours on the netbook carcade project you referenced in this video?
Unfortunately that I used for that video has long been sold, but I did make a video on emulation station that's kind of of similar to this one. It's been a while. But I'll make a video in the future on this topic again.
It’s useful even 2 years later

I remember trying to learn hyperspin and it was a big pain the ass lol
This is really really helpful. Thank you bro.
could you link to that modified nevato theme shown on 1:15 with blue and red controls? Thanks.

yes but how do you enter a path for your artwork on the all displays menu?
good day!
Maximus Tips
can you make a video tutorial how to configure RetroFE frontend its good frontend too
Never seen it, looks cool though
Does the original NES have a BIOS? I can't find one or get the original NES to work in BizHawk.
No, usually when it comes to BIO's disk based systems are the ones to look out for. PSX, PS2, and Dreamcast are ones that come from the top of my head.
Can you do this with mame

I have followed same steps, cant make Nevato theme to work.

I think you might have to scrape it still. It's been a while.
I have 2 romlist in ps1 how do I fix it Show the game and a copy that doesn’t work please help
Awesome step by step. thanks!
Hey thanks, I try lol

i tried so many combinations to register on their forums for the programming language question and none worked :(

To be honest, I'm not sure myself, although their is probably a guide somewhere in the annals of the internet.
is there anyway to set up a kiosk-like mode where if there's no activity on a game for a certain amount of time that it reverts back to attack mode?
I believe so but you would have to code it into the software.
Do you have any idea how to do it in linux?
Is it known for this front end to load everything great and the one day stop?
Don't make the mistake I did.

I just get the games I'm familiar with and make the collection based on those titles.
I’m running attracmode on the pie. When I exit attract mode it takes me to command line. Is there a way to put a shut down option on attract mode?
I need to do further research on this since I haven't tried putting a track mode on the Raspberry Pi yet I will someday
Great video God bless!
Tried Famicom Mini + NEStopia... Followed every step, but black screen
same here, followed this tutorial to the LETTER, just a black screen with an empty arcade cabinet. no games at all
You should replace biz hawk with RetroArch if it works. RetroArch almost has everything.
I was considering that when making the video, but I had more experience when it came to bizhawk, and that's why I went with it
Can you use mame with this
yes
Can I substitute bizhawk for retroarch?
Yeah you can you just got to change some file names around
How much space does this setup eats?
Not a whole lot, you should be able to fit a good lot of games.
TheGAmesDB is not working can anyone help

Finally a windows pc version. :-)
Why dont you use mame
Thak you
b e a utiful! ;)
Why bizhawk? Why not MAME?
Cuz first I'm not very well versed in Mame and second I feel as if this emulator would be easy enough for people to pick up and use
no neogeo mame supported for this
You should probably mention that biz hawk is 64bit. As a lot of people may be doing this on old un used hardware they may be lead down a wrong path here.
not good for arcade cabs, since you still need the mouse to exit out the emulator windows
It's a good introduction on what attract-mode can do. It's up to you to take it a bit further.
......... my bro is that Kintaro Oe?
yes
@@MaximumTips 🙏🏻 I know which tutorial I must use
Okay, but why are you using such an old version of windows?
Just in case there's someone out there using it
It didn't work.. I followed the steps. It just gives me no list of games.. maybe because I'm using .BIN...idk
Do it still work
yes

Great information. Too bad A-M is so buggy. Can't scrape and previously delete emulator won't go away in menus.
Snes doesn't open
Helpful video but sometimes you a too quick to follow, especially System selection. Where you went didn't make sense to me
Are you the person that made this? ua-cam.com/video/UtZnzZAXei8/v-deo.html
nope

Does attract mode support nintendo switch pro controller?
Depends on the emulator that you are using.
