It's sometimes amusing seeing what people get used to. Giant serpent that mainly keeps to itself and just basks across the mountains? Just another day in a world where various cultural mythologies are real.

In the myths, Thor and the serpent fight. The serpent either bites Thor, or sprays Thor with the venom, right before Thor bashes his head in.
Thor then takes a few steps, before he collapses and dies.

This is kinda off the topic but I acquired a perfect perk glyph of the nine realms. Where you deal out damage for a time without getting hit and in turn you receive a nine realms blessing. I used it but couldn't even tell what the perk was. Does anyone know?

That was the one that Atreus put the soul into who got sent back to before he was born. The one from GOW 2018 was just chilling out in Midgard during Ragnarök.

@@extincttv7082 the one that Atreus put a soul into is the one that Thor sent back. The one that Thor sent back is the one Kratos and Atreus meet in the lake in GOW 2018. And he’d been there for absolutely ages.
I don’t get it either but that’s all I have haha
EDIT: he’s probably been there for thousands of years. That’s why he initially said Atreus is familiar to him in 2018.

Fun fact! Some modern practitioners as well as people who study ancient heathenry have actually theorized that Jormungander could be a protector of Midgard! But only for the Natural process of Midgard, a counterbalance to Thor if humanity goes to far.

Practitioners of this pagan religion are jokes.
      Mythology wise, lore wise,
Jötnar vs Æsir have always symbolized nature Vs culture.
The Jötnar resembled the elements. You had frost Jötnar, fire Jötnar, forest Jötnar, and sea Jötnar.
Most of the Jötuns we see in the mythology are frost Jötnar.

@@brandenmarcum430 Firstly, idk if i agree on calling the practitioners jokes, I’d only level that criticism at the Neo Nazis using the symbology, figures, and narratives to invent a “mythic past” for their fringe ideology that never even really existed. Those guys are fuckin clowns.
Secondly, your interpretation of the myths and lore is odd, the nature connection to the Jotunn are very true, however the “culture” note you bring up for the Aesir is questionable and I’d suggest to be rather incorrect. The moniker of “culture” you utilize here was not something tied to the identity of germanic pagans of the era, and as the Gods of these people represented ideas, archetypes, and structures within their societies, the concept of one group of entities representing a concept as nebulous and modern as culture is highly unlikely if not impossible.
And idk if this is me interpreting your comment incorrectly or not, but the tone of which you describe the conflict between Aesir and Jotunnar seems to be rather, how do i put this, domineering?
While a rather common trope in modern retellings, the conflict found between the Aesir and Jotunn is never really perceived as a case of all out warfare in a traditional sense. In truth, it was more a conflict between the idea of Human Society and Nature, and the balance necessary to prevent collapse.
The Germanic people were very in tune and in flux with the natural world around them, theres a reason in the true religion, Freyr was a highly popular God amongst the people and upper class a like, his nature ties as a Vanir God, as well as the dominion of peace, fertility, good harvests and fair weathers were necessary to this balance with the natural world, which the Jotunn represented. Hell Jotunn like Ægir and Ran were oftentimes hosts to the inhabitants of Asgard, so the all out war that is typically portrayed is not correct in that case as well.
One final point, a lot of the information we have of this age is biased to shit, primarily from the Poetic Eddas, which were written by Christian perspectives or Germania which was written by a Roman. There are multifaceted reasons for these writings to be approached by in caution, and as Mimir says in the game, many have been trying to approach these symbols, stories, and figures in the hopes of reclaiming them and making new, or rediscovering expressions of these religions.

What's hard to understand? We see Atreus put a giant soul in a large snake. That snake grows and answers the call for Ragnarok. Thor hits him so hard, it sends him back in time ages and he grows even larger as it rests in the lake until Kratos and Atreus awaken him shortly after Faye dies. It's a causal loop. Atreus was always destined to place that soul into that snake and that snake was always destined to grow larger and fight Thor in Ragnarok until Thor sends it back in time, where eventually Jormie will inform Atreus of Ironwood, thus ensuring his own creation and closing the loop. Ouroboros.
