My coach, when rolling with other black belts during practice, uses a lot of techniques and lands many moves, but when competing, I've seen him and his opponents only fight as simply as white belts, haha.
Agree. It’s the point system and ruleset to blame…
I mean, they're there to compete, and to try and win. You cant blame people for playing the game
Bro it's masters 😂 most dudes have a bad back and knees. I'm sorry if we can't play more exciting with these injuries. It's either we don't compete or quit or pull gaurd to stay active in the game. 🤷🏽♂️
In Judo tournaments everyone goes to turtle when they get thrown so it's the same shit
mad respect!!! Love how you're committed to gi Jits. You're a true warrior!!!!!!! Thank you for sharing your experience.
4:15 his coach rushing him 😹😹
Great video ! Thanks for promoting the sport and for making great quality content. Finally something great to watch while eating
Who did DJ have to knock out to finally get his black belt?
Ah yes, I heard that he won by D'Arce Choke Knockout!
The Energy! God I love the Energy from this video DJ😃
Some of IBJJF's rules are BS. Especially when they allow someone to hold a closed guard without actively attacking, like in your second match. I lost to someone last year in Wprlds who did the same thing. The guy just stalled the match by holding closed guard with no real attacks. But the ref dinged me a point for not getting out of his guard. Just one of the BS rulesets in IBJJF.
I’ve passed through the same, but it was my fault for being unable to open a guard. Its a part of the game, you should deal with it.
Ok so u lost because u failed to open the guys guard and attack .....u deserved to lose
Bro DJ is too legit…so professional and respectful, these are the type of men that prosper…
dude did not care haha dammmmm 3:20
Such a fucking weird reaction, yeah.
You're the definition of what a martial artist/athlete should be, keeping being yourself man good job!!
What a guy and the way he helped talk to the guy who was sad after he lost, what a man
Great sportsmanship. Always respecting the opponents, and you’re so right we all have our jobs and life to get back to after the day. Great video
DJ, is just a great example of a martial arts champion. Crazy talented, and just as humble OSSS!!!
Bro. I’m such a huge fan of you from u going out to compete in BJJ. Your attitude is just the best! You and GSP are 2 of my favorite martial artists ever. Notice I said martial artist not fighter. You are more than a fighter, you’re a true warrior 👏👏👏
You are the man DJ and deserve everything you have earned in your life! Thanks for the content
DJ good stuff man u inspire me to get back in I competed as a white belt 3 years ago I had 4 matches and won LA open got my blue belt after 😃 however months late stopped because I fell into depression bad. But I'm slowly getting my strong mind set back and seeing this spark a fire in me!! And for that I want to say thank you!
No matter the result. It's really cool seeing DJ putting it all out there and testing his skills! Master Worlds is one of my favorite IBJJF events, it's fun seeing such high level athletes out there.
