3:42 Detailed instructions start here. 1) Line your car up with the widest part of the bend so you have the largest turning radius. 2) Stop accelerating. At this point the car should be moving on its own momentum. You should neither be accelerating or braking. The ideal speed should be 70 to 90 km/h, slower if you are going on a very tight turn or small course (60 km/h). 3) Turn early and hard. This will force the car to start drifting. 4) Make sure to maintain the correct angle (you can see an indicator underneath the car turn green at the correct angle) throughout the drift. If the angle is too steep or the car is accelerating, you need to GENTLY brake otherwise the car will spin. If the angle is too low or the car is not going fast enough, you need to GENTLY accelerate (this is what he means by "feathering"). Ideally, you should not need to either brake or accelerate and the car should move on its own and you only need to steer. 5) Aim for the red & yellow cone which marks the inner corner/apex of the bend. You should try to get as close as possible without hitting it. 6) As soon as you pass it, straighten the car back out and accelerate back up to speed (because you would have lost a lost while drifting) and correctly align yourself for the next drift. drivingfast.net/wp-content/uploads/geometric-apex.png As the image shows, approach wide, aim for the apex, and then exit wide. You should slow down when approaching the turn, and as soon as you pass the apex, start accelerating again.
This is probably the best and most informative tutorial video (in general) I have watched! Thank you. Very helpful.....was losing my mind trying to figure out the drifting until I seen your video! I too am using a controller but it's an xbox controller. Same idea though. Really appreciate you describing (in a way most will understand) or maje sense of, how to play. Look forward to watching more of your content. Definitely subscribing! Thx again from las Vegas, NV. USA
It is indeed! I still get frustrated at times too. Are you using a Dual shock? I've found any other controller just doesn't do the job and I've tried them all!
@@backadee2013 i use ipega pg9217 the latest one, it's cheap but working well except the R2&L2 buttons not like ps4 controller, just clicking buttons no throttle.
@@Motivated99999 yup, the ipega is pretty good and I like how you can map the button function to the controller and have no need for a app whilst playing the game once saved. The R2 button is crucial in order to more easily balance that throttle just right during the turn.... Though not impossible without. If you shorten the drift time you should be able to burst the R2 button from a slower speed after the first cone, so long as you don't gain to much speed and you hold a wide line you can get a decent turn in.
0:50 I agree 😂 it's horrible, I always ended up oversteer 😭 {Edit} thanks to you now I've improved my drift in this game! Still need a few more practice though, anyways thanks for this video!!
I'm able to drift in keyboard, minus the clipping point, but i still killing it. On phone however, with tilt control, this thing is practically impossible
@@backadee2013 btw i use veteran and yahh its so hard to drift, sometime i can do it perfectly but not at all time, but i think its posible if we practicing this more again and again
I had a lot of drifting experience in Gran Turismo 5, playing Grid with the PS4 controller I can control the car almost as well as in GT5. All driving aids disabled and manual transmission, this game is a mobile masterpiece! The only shame is that I can't drift with people as I did on GT5.
Im really beginner in this game & driffting in this is game makes me dead.. What should difficulities i use for drif? Fyi, i only use touch screen control in my phone.. Many thanks 4 ur answer 😬🙏🙏
Hi. The best settings for drift with any control type is Veteran. For all other game modes using touch controls I'd go with custom veteran with a racing line (untill you learn the track) and ABS with gyroscope. I hope you get to enjoy this game, it's really fun after you learn the ropes!
@@sayedraza_ are you using a controller or the on screen buttons? On screen is much more difficult but not impossible. Either way you have to feather (rapidly tap) accelerator. Forget about the brake entirely, it’s not needed and just adds an extra complication.
Hi, nice tutorial for this awesome game. I come from drifting on GT5 and with all driving aids off the phisics of this game are pretty similar and we'll sorted. My approach to drift is to make it as fluid and dinamic as possible, trying not to be at the red line to maximize the amount of burning rubber, really don't care much about the points in the game, just the fun and satisfaction of drifting. Please take a look at my channel, I uploaded a recent replay recording.

This is very helpful! I just downloaded the game yesterday because it's on sale rn.
Glad you found it useful. How have you been getting on with the game?
finally, someone make a video how to drift in this game, thank you

Thanks for the feedback! I'm glad it's helped you out.
Can you explain more bro? We haven't got a vid since, i would like to know more about the drift mechanism because im new to grid (first day)

Are you using veteran difficulty? It deactivates a lot of the assists that totally screw you over when drifting. Try that and don’t touch the brakes.

I skipped drift for now.i have ipega 9069 but still not try it for Grid Autosport.hope my controller can be use for this game especially for drifting.

What it mean the veteran? Difficulty?
This games the best . Did help Thankyou . I think I’m gonna have to buy a actual remote haha
It helped, thanks
This is his first and last video.
Nice thanks for this
Does anyone have any car setup advice for better drifting?
I like to know how I should configure the carbtonmake it a littlebit easy... 😭
Can you make a video to race with hardest mode
I have a wheel and are the only part of the game to make me crazy... always finish at the end of the list... 🤦
I loved this video
Nice bro
Thanks dude, appreciate it.
Do i need to press brake or handbrake in order to drift ??
there is have handbrake in grid autosport?
@@anonymousx3483 yea if u use controller
Nope. I don’t touch the brakes at all unless I’ve screwed up.
@@backadee2013 but why is it so hard to drift in Grid ? 😒 In this case GTA San Andreas is better. You can easily drift like a pro.
