‘Lia Thomas was 1 case’. True. However, how many women were directly affected by this ‘single case’? How many were displaced from their rightful place on the podium? How many lost out on the accolades, awards and scholarships? How many were silenced when raising concerns about a male presence in their intimate changing area? And how many young girls are now thinking ‘Why would I give up the time, effort and sacrifice to compete in elite sports if I’m only going to be overtaken by a male in the competition?’
And make no mistake, should we as women not fight now, this ‘single’ case will soon expand to multiple cases and have exponentially detrimental impact for women. So in short, no thank you. It’s not for women to be accommodating to solve the trans issue. Being agreeable and accommodating is precisely why we’re now in a position where we are losing our language and sex-based rights.

I am a female,76 years old, Singapore citizen of chinese ethnicty. I know who and what I am. This is my identity. Together with many Asians , i am more than stunned why a people, in a self acknowledged , most powerful nation in the world , would want to discard the most basic element of his/her identity. If gender identity is lost through idiotic philosophies, then USA can say goodbye to nationhood forever. When someone has a baby we first ask "boy or girl"?. We never ask black or white?, republican or democrat.? I pray that my country's leaders will not be swayed to follow this idiocy of USA FAR LEFT. God save us!

Around the globe we are forcefully persuaded to give in to the tyranny of the minority just because partisan media megaphone their causes.
How about us in the majority who believe that marriage is between a man and a woman. Or that our physical genitalia determines our gender!!
We don’t want our descendants to say in the morning “ oh I feel like being a girl” and the next day say”today I’m a boy”!!
The west laughed at the terrible idiocy of China’s Cultural Revolution which cost it 10 years during which insanity reigned.

Regarding the standardized testing problem given the observation that some kids are ~11 months younger than others, the idea Malcom proposes (testing older kids at beginning of year and younger kids at end of year) won’t work. Why won’t it work? It’s because the test taker needs to have taken the full year of instruction before taking the test. What we fundamentally are discussing Is a good-faith attempt at equity, why equity cannot be implemented at scale, and why equality of opportunity (within constraints) is the best we can do.

Amen, and accept that there are advantages and disadvantages to all placements. We all have to accept the hand that we've been dealt and make the best of it. Malcom's solution would expand to an impossibly handy cap system including: month of birth, age of parents, marrital status of parents, gender, economic status, immigrant or non immigrant, whether they got a good daycare or a bad one, the number of kids in their with out of control behaviors in their daycare, preschool, elementary school, highschool, family, it just goes on ....

I don’t buy Malcolm’s “putting into perspective” the issue of trans participation in elite sports. He just avoids saying that it’s not right, full stop. No one should put up with biological males masquerading as women competing with biological women on their level. It’s simply not fair. Malcolm is too scared to say so.

If only the parents would raise children worthy of educating. Thomas Sowell hit the nail on the head when he said a child can not learn when someone (a parent, a caregiver) does not require them to go to bed at a certain time, to get up to go to school. If the homes are broken (with parental drug problems), the clothes are not clean, lessons are not learned, good nutrition is not fed, and Church is not attended, and the culture is not revered, then a teacher can teach all they want, and the students will not learn. I’m not saying that you do not make a valid point, but it is not the only one to consider.

If Malcolm's father was here he could easily answer the question on how to repair the problem of so many living in unhappiness. (The question addressed towards the end of this show). It's probably not so much unhappiness but not being content. When one learns to trust in God our Creator and get to know Jesus as Malcolm's father did, one then will know what true contentment is and through that will live a happier life. Malcolm had a wonderful father who I got to know just a short time before he died. What a wonderful man who truly lived his faith.

I held a child back because when they started kindergarten in one state the cut off was Dec, when we moved to another state the cut off date was September and he would have been youngest child in his grade. To me what mattered more was the maturity level, he was very young and even though he was beyond the level they were teaching he was just not there maturity wise. There are no regrets and my child thanks me often as an adult. So sometimes as a parent you need to be realistic and choose whats best for your child in the long run not to make your child the most advanced one academically in their grade level.

I think what Malcom is missing when we speak about the trans competing in women's sports is, that it isn't about how the trans person feels at that moment.
It's completely about the young women who have worked extremely hard to get to where they are, and should not have it robbed from them!
Though I do understand that this community is dealing with serious issues, like the suicide rate.
I think we could agree that these two subjects are very different and they cannot be put on a "most needs" list.

I'm confused by this. Maybe someone can explain. The cutoff for age in the state I live in is kids must be 5 by Sept. 1st to begin kindergarten. Megyn said that as a November birthday she was one of the youngest in her class, but in my school Fall birthdays are the oldest in the class. Spring and summer babies are the youngest (unless they are held back a year). I also find the idea of giving standardized tests every month based on birthday to be absurd. The test covers standards that teachers need a year to teach. How could you test a Fall birthday over standards they have not yet learned? This is not possible. Also, going through the formalities of standardized testing every month all year would be a nightmare! I wish all schools required children to be 5 by July 31st so 4 year olds aren't starting kindergarten, but there really isn't a great way to address this issue. I do agree with him that older children have an advantage in many ways.

Really interesting for me. In my family, my brother and I were born in the median months (I was born June 20th and my older brother was born July 13th) and our younger sister was born December 4th and was one of the youngest children in her class. We were all above-average students, in the upper percentage of our classes throughout our school years. My sister is an overachiever in all things, including athletics, and has been successful in her career and financially as an adult. My brother and I were honor students but never achieved in athletics and struggled in our adult careers, though I achieved as an equestrian, which was an extra-curricular activity. But in spite of my sister and brother excelling academically, I scored extremely high on SAT's compared to both of my siblings. My sister and I are both musically inclined, my brother is not. I excelled in mathematics and science, my sister and brother both struggled with those subjects. I am also an artist, my siblings are not. Just interesting to hear this, don't know if I agree or disagree with the thoughts put forth here.

At the same time, the older kid *may* have an advantage of being more mature.

Love Malcolm. Great show. On the subject of "choice," though, during your last clip - I'd have to say I used to fully believe, as Megyn claims, "One has the power." I don't think this is Universally True now - as I've traveled a bit of the world(solo) and across the USA and back, spending the last 2 years in the Deep South, South and SW. It's very easy for many of us< I've dealt with this narrative especially in the Spiritual Community and working with Surgeons in the North East(lived in NYC for 17 years) for us to live through these Myopic lenses. We like to say, "well, I did. it" "I pulled the boot straps up." "I changed jobs, why can't they?" And on an on with comparisons. Many people actual do not have choice because of their life circumstances. One only needs to work in the Hospitals in America - converse with anyone other than an MD or in a Suit with an office. The stories I have heard from the cleaning staff, to Nurses, to Scrub techs. These are the humans that get a deserving pay, only after their 40 hrs, work day and night jobs, make just above poverty wages.(cleaning personnel) Everyone is told what a great job they have, how appreciative they should be(to work in a "prestigious" hospital). They get gaslit, into staying in these positions and at the same time also know they need to feed their families, send money back to families in respective countries, and pay the bills. The bureaucrats of this Industry know this well. And yes, push them farther out of the cities(yet the cities pay more) - increase commuting time - well, this is disastrous. We have people falling asleep at the surgical table, humans unable to focus, cooperate together, and increasingly unhappy humans in Medicine. I speak on this, well because it's my field and I love listening to people. And the more I listen the more complex and Nuanced the free will and free choice mantra becomes. People also need to feel supported to make big moves. New choices. Also, tell me where some people in very specific industries are going to go? Or what new choice they have, without the education as that person in the office calling them a hero?

I'm astonished that in the US children are allowed to go to school with one another, some being a full year younger than others. I live in the south and we do not allow children born on or after September 1 to start K or 1st until the following year. That does make them the oldest in the class the next year, but it makes more sense than allowing them to fail. My brother was born October 1, and he would've completely failed in academics had he gone to school they year he turned 5. He went to 4-year-old pre-school for half a day, then went home to my SAHM. I was born in July and was always one of the youngest in my class. I turned 5 just before we started school the first week in August. I was a different case though because I was intellectually gifted and went into the gifted and talented program at the end of first grade, then went into our state school for mathematics and science in eleventh grade. My brother ended up successful in school, A's & B's when he was younger. He did continue like that through high school, but only because my parents pushed him to do it because they believed he could make the grades. He had to study quite a bit, where I didn't have to at all. My daughter was born in February and would've needed to be held back had she been born later in the year. She was an average student. My son was born in July, and he does well, A's & B's, but I have to make him study to achieve those grades. I think I wouldn't have had to push him as much as I do now if covid hadn't robbed him of a critical year, especially in math, by missing third grade.

I was shocked when I signed up my kindergartener who was born in July and found out she was one of the two youngest kids in the class! When we signed her up for soccer,
the coach’s daughter was born in June the year prior
to her. But my daughter’s preschool teacher said she was ready to go kindergarten, so I sent her.🤷‍♀️

I have a different solution. Kids are not put into a class by age but by ability. So say you have a blue, red and yellow class. It doesn't matter what age the child is but based on ability they go into the class based on what they capable of. I did follow his concept but it did not convince me it is as cut and dried as which month a child is born. I think each child develops differenty and the solution for children and teachers should be simpler not more complicated.

I'm a huge fan of the author Douglas Murray and there is a shocking video of him showing up for a debate where Malcolm was on the other team. Malcolm's behavior was was so rude and obnoxious that I couldn't believe it's the same guy sitting here talking about how people should come together and try to understand each other. Clearly, he had gotten it in his head that Douglas was a bad guy with "bad intentions" as he talks about here. All he did was attack him and try to berate him at every turn to the point where I think he made a fool of himself. His "arguments" were nothing but nonsensical virtue signaling mixed with personal attacks on Douglas. Meanwhile, clearly he hadn't actually read any of Douglas's books and repeatedly got his name wrong. Don't be fooled by him acting so sweet and affable to Megyn here. This guy is a total jerk once he gets it in his twisted mind that he has found a "bad guy." I was hugely embarrassed for him and his dopey haircut.

Gladwell's bumbling along on the trans issue is pitiful. Keep men out of women's spaces, and sports.
Also the self harm statistics are not as portrayed for propaganda. These individuals often have multiple co-morbidities, and are complicated cases.
Their problems are seldom solved simply by pills, and surgery.
He has no idea the kind of people who are pushing this agenda.
I'd love to hear him debate someone like Kelly-Jay Keen on this. She'd eviscerate him.

Doing monthly - or even more frequent than anually - testing is not trivial as implied here. For starts, there's the matter of whether this month's test is equally hard as last month's test. And whether you administer the exact same test or not, there's the matter of test integrity. There inevitably will be cheating if a test is being administered over months. No system is perfect.

That child psychologist is right but mostly wrong.
To say that parents have no effect on how a kid believes they are discounts abhorrent parents like the mother of ‘Desmond is Amazing’
I mean we have videos of mothers mouthing ‘trans’ kids’ statements as the kids are saying them and given that young kids tend to try to please their parents in whatever way they can, they will absolutely believe they are what their parents say they are.
As for Megyn’s magic wand experiment, she’s not wrong. We need flaws to overcome, bc without them we have no drive to overcome them.
Probably the most important character in the LoTR trilogy is Tom Bombadil. Most people overlook this and consider him a throw away characte, but he’s the most flawless character in the books. He’s the only character that couldn’t be tempted by the ring, and as such he couldn’t be the hero of the story.
His carefree nature would end up with him losing the ring, so we needed a ring bearers that could be tempted.

Malcum doesn't seem to have understood therapy. In therapy it is never the the goal to "blame" anyone particularly not parents. it just isn't effective. his misunderstanding is just another reason to step back from thinking he is so smart. In therapy wounds from childhood are validated rather than dismissed or denied (often how parents deal with things). the former keep people stuck as does blame. Validation of wounds helps people let go of thewounds/forgive. Understanding how we have been affected and forgiving can free us from the patterns we learned in childhood and to be grateful for the things our parents have contributed to our development. The idea that parents have no effect on their child is just stupid. the problem is that most of what we do as parents is so automatic and unconscious, we feel powerless to change it and can't begin to comprehend how we are impacting our children. In most (not all) families parents are doing their best. In the end children are not passive participants, they can react in a number of different ways to the same situation and often make up for the flaws of their parents through corrective experiences in their social milieu. How may people have we heard of who made connections with coaches, teachers, peers, God, which enabled them to break from the disaster which was the family they grew up in.

i’m kind of shocked that no one seems to have recognized the solution to the trans athletes situation. Malcolm mentions it when he’s talking about the ages of children in school and when they take the SAT tests… Handicap them !! either each kid takes the test on his birthday or you all take it at once and the people who are older are handicapped in someway. Couldn’t the trans athletes just acknowledge the fact that because of their. advantage by being born male, and then competing as female, they don’t have the same starting block so to speak… They get some amount of time added to their finished time or deducted from the finish time…
