I much prefer the 20th Cap this new one has a different torso the red line on the 20th is in the center and the secret wars is offset and the 20th is more bulky, the dark wash also makes a huge difference, and the head sculpts for the 20th are much better imo.
It is the exact same torso as the 20th. The difference in the red and white striping is just a paint difference not a sculpt difference. The Arms and legs are pinless but they are still the same sculpt, they just did them pinless now. Only new parts are the heads, the upper leg pieces and the crotch, or at least the ass part.
The original Mattel Captain America had the white line in the middle. I think that's why they went that way, just like they have done with the thin brown line in the upcoming SW Wolverine as a homage to the vintage toy, even if it's not accurate to the comics.
The 20th anniversary one is much better in my opinion. I was looking forward to a classic Cap with pinless joints, but the blue and red are both too light for my tastes. I wish the colors matched the 20th anniversary because I'd love to have that angry head, but it's just not worth it to me.
I got one ordered. I wish that gave us all 4 of the head sculpts. They sculpted them all for the toybiz 20th anniversary release. The happy and angry heads make him look bipolar. 😆
I had the Doctor Doom as a child. Only 5 points of articulation. But yeah they had the holograms. Funny thing was I had no idea who he was he just looked the coolest to me
These shields from the original series were pretty much the same when I was a kid, I had a Doctor Doom , he was the only one I've got, but I lost him with the time.
It looks as if this new Cap has the hips and backside of the 80yrs Cap, with the fabric wrinkles in them. That's good. They allow him to do more of a leg splits. The 20th Anniversary one uses the terrible Grim Reaper hips and arse. Legs barely kick out to the side at all. I wish legends had the articulation setup & poseability of the Jada Street Fighter figs.
Bobby, I ordered the Beyonder. He was never part of the OG hologram series. He is quintessential eighties 😁. Having Battleworld as an 😮accessory locked me in to get him. Being a comics geek I have the OG issues. I may get The rest of the line. The shattered shield is a draw. Thanks for the review. 🫡Veterans Day.✌️
Man, they are just determined to not make a good, larger comic shield, are they? Given this entire wave is like 90% reuse, you'd think they'd at least go all out on accessories, and not do the weird gimmick thing that the old toy line did. Like who seriously asked for the holographic pog shield things? I'd much rather get more accessories than that. Like this Cap would be perfect if we got everything, they gave us, minus the pog shield, and gave us the Stoic masked head from the 20th, and a normal full sized comic shield. And I'm only asking for this much from this figure because again this is like 90% reuse. The cost of the Pog Shield could have been spent on a better normal shield and an extra head. And similarly, everyone else in this wave could get more accessories for them as well. Well, the ones that COULD get them, I can't think of much you could give Titania but regardless.
I get the complaint but that's not what this wave was supposed to do, it only exists for that nostalgia purchase for the card back. I only got Titania because I have most of these characters in some form or fashion. I only got Titania.
@@scottroxford5715 Yeah but they've done this kind of Retro Cardback thing many, many times before and they didn't feel the need to throw in some dumb gimmick from the other retro nostalgia waves. The general cost of the Retro waves is already super low, yet they always cheap out on the accessory count. It's annoying there but its more egregious here because they spent money on the lame pog shields.
I think I prefer the paint of this cap over the 20th anniversary. Which is great because I somehow missed the 20th version. So this will be a better purchase. Got lucky and found the 20ths.shield and effect pieces for cheap on eBay, so those will look good with this secret wars cap.
I don't collect Marvel stuff, but I want the Wolverine or Spiderman from this series. I loved the Secret Wars line as a kid. I know it's sad, but that cheesy lenticular shield is the part I love most about these. Lol! I hate admitting this, because it always feels like I'm a turncoat, but I can't stand Captain America. I'm super patriotic in regards to everything else. Now, before anyone judges me too harshly... take a few minutes and watch a clip of the Captain America T.V. show from the late 70's. Once you've done that, consider that was the Cap from my childhood. I honestly envy you guys that grew up with the movies, untainted by that goofy, motorcycle rid'n, clear plastic shield throw'n, slow motion fight'n Captain America that haunts my childhood memories. Lol!
The hip pieces are different, look at the wrinkles. I think those are the hips from the 80 Years Alex Ross Cap. Love the broken shield and the angry head sculpt, definitely want to pick this up.
I love the baby blue Cap, but no stoic head bums me out.
no stoic head AND no complete shield, big bummer
The shield pieces were red circles for the heroes and silver squares for the villains in the 80's line.

Good rewiew, thanks
If you have Black suit Spiderman, can you make that review next !!
@@JoseGonzalez-yq4gw unfortunately I only picked up Cap from this wave
I hate to say it but the 20th version looks better. I’m hoping when I get it in hand it will change my mind. I love the darker blue on the 20th.
Great review I loved the Secret Wars comic series and figures from when I was a kid so I am all in on these and can’t wait to get them
A first-rate review of SW Captain America and his cool accessories!

Well its all there right one with the 20th Cap and this. So four heads still cheaper than buying Mafex
@dvw7665 they don't match.
@@Tyler_Lalonde- heads dont match or the colors
@dvw7665 the colors don't match
@@Tyler_Lalonde- I see, is it a drastic difference

All I see when I see Hasbro can do holograms is Visionaries lol.
Thanks for the review! Can the unmasked heads fit on a Classified figure for a lazy custom?
It would depend on the figure and the ball peg on the neck
if I order these on eBay will I still get them early on??
all of the good guys had the same shield and the same for the bad guys
Try using a ToyBiz shield, it’s not MCU but it has elastic to put on his back

Titania could have: more hand options, unmasked head, or different expressions, maybe a chunk of debris to hit She Hulk with.

@@The_Rage_Kage I get that but I can tell they wanted to go all out for the Secret Wars cardback because that line is so iconic.

The smiling head looks like the Captain America from the 1992 movie.

I ordered five I'll probably make it six. I hope Gridiron dose some loadouts for them like they did for the Alley-Vipers.
What????😭🙏
Sorry, but after getting the Mafex version this looks like a downgrade
NEEDS BUTTERFLY JOINTS! SHOULD HAVE BEEN ON THE RETRO JACK O LANTERN BODY!
