Awww, so much nostalgia seeing Pearson. It's no longer the virus that deters me from travelling, but the pre-departure process (getting a negative test, the cost of said test, the line-ups and screening processes at airports, etc.). And then arrival processes are also tedious. I miss the days when travel was more straightforward. I know it's all for the greater good, though.
Paying for the test and lining up an hour longer than usual for US customs was pretty ass. Coming back was quite straight forward though and even though the airport was busy it didn't take long to pass through immigration.
@@JohnnyStrides I had heard of people being 3 hours getting through immigration here in Toronto. May have been referring to international arrivals, though.
Thanks for taking us along the last trip for me and my family was before covid the guy with the skate board that is such a good idea I would e- scotter through the air port my kids used to ride on the Carry ons some gates had a big gap in between to catch your next flight hopefully you had fun.
Thank you thank you thank you for this wonderfully informative video...relevant to the current happenings Johnny! I needed a refresh as I use to be a frequent traveller as of two years ago....sadly everything changed. I am ready however to get back on board and my gratitude for showing us reality and the fact that getting there three hours ahead is the best thing you can do now. Wow. Hi. I have been a subscriber for a long time but never commented. Thank you for this tour of going thru the airport!! I love the feeling when your getting ready for a trip and it’s more exciting when you finally get to the airport and see your airplane! I miss going away with my family…hopefully next year. Hope you have a safe trip!👍👍😊
Thank you for the pleasure to almost experience all that exciting trip stuff. Missed our airport as Covid keeps everything upside down and still I am not sure about my vacation next year. Thank you for your lovely video
I was in Toronto way back in 2007 for the Andre Rieu concert. Canadian customs was really great and we talked about Andre Rieu and how she and her husband wanted to go. Great experience. BUT American customs was completely different. Since it was near Christmas I said “I guess you’ll be getting quite busy with holiday travelers” and she replied “IT DOESN’T MAKE ANY DIFFERENCE, I STILL HAVE TO BE HERE”. I thought wow, so welcome to the USA.
It doesnt seem like alot to you but this video honestly helps alot because in a few weeks i fly out of pearson to seoul and its my first time ever flying on a non military plane and im nervous as heck
Hello guys I have international flight from Pearson airport , please let me know the steps to follow starting from check in baggage… What are the next steps
go to aisle 6 and the e gates are there clear security and walk the long path then find your gate otherwise if e gates are closed go to aisle 5 and clear domestic gate security once security is cleared connect to the e gates
I was in this airport back in March break of 2008 trying to catch a Westjet flight to go to Florida for my Disney wish trip. At the time there was a snowstorm hitting Toronto and I ended up with a five hour flight delay. I forget what terminal I was in but I do remember my gate number, my gate number was B13. While I was waiting to get onto the plane I went for a walk with my father because it got pretty boring sitting around in my wheelchair, and as we were about to go for walk someone came over and the PA system and said "Jordan Lowe please report to gate B13 Jordan Lowe to gate B13". Once I heard that announcement I never went so fast in my wheelchair down the hallway in my life, I even hoped onto a moving walkway to give myself an extra boost and a quick breather. After we got to the gate we spent an hour in de-icing and we were the last plane to leave the airport before they closed down because of the snowstorm, and I landed in Orlando International airport at 2:30 in the morning.
Thanks for showing that Johnny. That area by the escalator were under construction back in March of 2020, when I was coming back from Toronto. I was disappointed to see that Timmy's closed, It helped me many a morning on an early flight back. That Wahlburgers is new, I can't recall what was there before. Under "regular' conditions the wait to get through US customs was about an hour in that line. I was happy to see the passengers in the airport wearing masks, I know here in the States it's a battle.
Thank you Johnny for this awesome tour of the airport. I'm a fellow Torontonian but haven't flown since 2016. I miss travelling abroad. Hope I can travel one day again soon. Hope you enjoyed NYC! :)
That's my world. I'm an airline employee and yes the airport has become very busy as of July when many flights were added back to the schedule. Lot of people traveling these days but there are still many delays and cancelations due to lack of staff.
So happy to see life back to somewhat normal 💃💃 thanks for this tour Johnny your vlogs is always so pleasing 💕 can't wait to touch down in your beautiful country 🥰
If you checked in at home does that mean you don’t need to check in when you enter the airport on the kiosk? I don’t know if you just chose not to record it or if you just did not need to do it because you already went through the check in at home? and my apologies if that was an odd question haven’t travelled since I was quite young 😂 Canada really has been home to me and because I’ve been in school for so long it’s been some time since I travelled.
Hope you had a good trip! Pearson airport looks so clean! How were the planes themselves each way? Crowded? Also the skateboarder lmao, funny. Also at 7:12 the woman's shirt looks like a newspaper!
The airline checks before you board and then they check again on arrival at customs & immigration. I'd just have a printed copy, saves you from handing over your phone. Some tests have a QR code or provide you with a login to their website so they can be used to verify the test in case they suspect it's not legit.
@Johnny I was told there is a place in the airport that does the testing. Did you price shop? $169 is so expensive. I am looking to find a lab that will do my testing before I travel.
The one at the airport is just a little cheaper than that. The $169 includes tax, I didn't bother to price shop since they're all about the same. Fortunately I found a free test in NYC for the trip back.
Thank you for showing this. Good info. Thanks for sharing. I want to visit Toronto. At least I know what the iij side of the airport looks like. I've never been to Canada.

It’s hard to believe a process that used to take 20 or 30 minutes takes almost four times that now. Uggh! Is there a video of coming back and going through the process of re-entering the country?
Hope you had a great trip! When you mentioned about not filming security or immigration, any avgeek vloggers I have watched have also turned their cameras off at that point. I think if you had tried filming there, you may have gotten a good talking to!! Hope you are going to upload a video about your time in NY.
Hey Johnny, you mentioned negative COVID check before flying for $169. Can you please tell me where you got that done, we are traveling next week and all I can find is $250. Thanks for your help and I hope you enjoy your trip.
It was incredibly easy as there's free PCR mobile testing vans all over Manhattan and in Times Square. It took all of 10 minutes to get the free test and it was emailed to me about 16 hours or so after I got it. There's no need to go to a clinic and pay for it.

That’s interesting about going through US customs at Pearson instead of at LaGuardia.
There's a number of airports in Canada (and a few elsewhere) where you pre-clear US customs and essentially land as a domestic flight. I prefer it.

The airline checks when you check-in online (send it through the app). The airline and immigration checks for the PCR test upon return as well.
